More Changes coming to the Disneyland Resort

Today, the Disneyland Resort is seeing a lot of change, and I thought it couldn't get any busier, but I was wrong.

First of all starts with the Disneyland Hotel. Though this has been announced for quite some time now, it kind of passed over my head and I didn't see it posted on these forums.

The classic hotel will receive a complete renovation complete with a new interior and also a new looking exterior. However, the hotel will not close at any time. They will do the renovations in sections, allowing it to remain open for business while allowing workers to revamp the classic building.

Renovation is slated to begin next week on August 24, 2009 with the first rooms set to be ready in January.

As far as the exact changes to come, I will let the pictures do the talking:

Notice the new headboard designed inspired by the iconic sleeping beauty castle

Fiber optics are wired into the headboard to create a fireworks looking type of effect.

In addition, we should be all aware of the major renovations in DCA. Cars land, a new land to come to the park, is planned to take up the old timon & pumba parking lot area. To fix this mess, I've also heard a news report that Disney is looking to turn an old strawberry field into a new parking lot area. They will be going into talks with the Anaheim City Council to discuss/obtain the proper permits to make a parking location possible for the growing resort.

That looks nice. How much do the rooms typically go for?

It would vary by the season, but doing a quick search for a stay tonight, it would be $355 for 2 adults for 1 night. Of course, I am sure that if you go through an agent or book a head of time, you can get a better price.

The new rooms look nice! I have always wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel but I only live 20 minutes away so it would be a waste of money. The outside of the hotel is definitely ready for a makeover.

Wow! I looks awesome! I want a head board like that!

Never been to DLR, but I really want to and those rooms are making it very tempting.

I just stayed at DLR Hotel before summer, I was able to get a rate of $199. Wasn't too impressed with the room decore. With this new change I would definitely back go again. I have stayed at all 3 hotels. My favorite of course is Grand California, only able to stay at that hotel in the off seasons (Feb). Using my passholder discounts I get in there for about $225 before all the taxes and resort fees. It is so worth it!
Last time I stayed at the Paradise Pier for my daughter's birthday in August the DLR agent that booked my room said the room rates would be going up at the beginning of the year. I was surprise to get a good rate for being in the middle of summer (passholder rate of course) at this hotel. We can never afford the summber rates at the DLR Hotels so this was a nice treat for my daughter to stay on her Birthday. The other thing that was great that when we checked into the Paradise Pier we where picked the Kahuna Family of the day, which gave us a a room upgrade (room with a view $50 value)family photo, bouquet of balloons, and crispy treats in the evening.
DLR room rates this year have been lower making a bit more affordable than past years. Hopefully next year we can get in on those lower rates for passholders.

Disneyland Hotel was really needing this facelift. Stay there before the summer and was disappointed with the rooms. Good thing for the passholder rate that made it a reasonable rate. Since them I have stayed at the Paradise Pier twice and like those room much better, better views and lower price helps Of course nothing is like staying at the Grand California. That is my once a year treat (off season passholder rate makes it possible).

Are ALL of the rooms going to look like the one on the original post or is that just one of the nicer rooms?

From my understanding, that is what the standard room will be looking like. I don't know if they have larger suites and if they do have then, how they will look like after the rennovation

Definitely. I would totally feel like it was worth the price if they all looked that nice.

Yeah... we decided that we wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel when we go, but then I looked up pictures of what the rooms looked/look like and I was like, um... we might as well be staying at the Days Inn. I think this renovation will definitely give the rooms a little bit of that Disney magic.

I love the light fixtures in the bathroom. Wish I had those in my bathroom. It would be nice to stay at the hotel sometime, but since I live really close (5 minutes) it would be a waste of money. Maybe when I win the Lotto.

I think it's worth it. Just a great way to get away from home and what not. If I win the lottery, I'd rather go spend my money on a disney vacation club membership . A great value when wanting to stay in the hotels.
