Going to Disneyland on 20th-22nd...Bucket list. What vinyls are available?

Hey all,

We've been to WDW a few times, but are treking to Disneyland for our first visit. What should be on our "bucket list" of things to do?

We've got dining reservations at DCA for World of Color, we're definitely in on Indiana Jones and the classic Disney rides (the Mountains and Matterhorn). I've heard to skip Mulholland Madness and the Maliboomer, but good things about the Alladin show.

I'm also trying to get a read on what vinyls they'll have in the stores when we get there. It sounds like Toy Story WON'T be out yet, and the 55th Anniversary sets will be long gone (probably are gone right now). Will the Have a Laugh's be out and plentiful?

We're not really into the Jr's and haven't pursued Urban 3 or 4. Will they have Park 4???

Park 4 will be available probably without a problem...if you are going to DCA definitely hit up Soarin over California it is an awesome ride

Hi. Welcome to LA!! Definitely do Matterhorn since it's not at WDW. Also I would recommend going first thing when you get into the Park since there's no fast pass for those. Then visit Dumbo, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Mr. Toad, and Snow White if you want to go on those. Basically anything in Fantasyland because they don't have fast passes. When going to California Adventure make a run for Toy Story because that line gets long early and no fast pass there either. Other than Toy Story, new Silly Symphony Swings and Mickey's Fun Wheel, anything good at CA has fast passes (Grizzly, Soarin', Tower of Terror, California Screamin etc). I would recommend check out Alladin cause it's a cute show.

All of the 3" that are out are available throughout both Parks. We don't have many 9" other than CYOs and a few Speech Bubbles.

You'll have a great time at Disneyland!

As Steph said, as far as Vinyls go, Urban 2, Urban 3, Urban 4, Park 3, Park 4, Cutesters, Holidays, HAL are available all over the parks. The only 9"s I have seen are the CYO and Speech Bubbles.

For me, one thing that is a must do is see Billy Hill and the Hillbillies at the Golden Horseshoe. They don't perform on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, so you should definitely check out their show on Thursday. They are an awesome band and their show is hilarious. You can even get food/desserts (like ice cream sundaes) before the show and eat while watching them. You should probably get there 15 minutes before the show starts to get a table. Another thing, make sure you see Fantasmic. Even though WDW has the show, it is much better at Disneyland than Disney World, IMO

If you will be here for more than one dinner, I suggest eating at Blue Bayou. It is the restaurant housed inside the same building as Pirates of the Caribbean. It is expensive but the experience is great and so is the food. I get the surf and turf. Must make reservations.

I highly recommend the Toy Story Midway mania ride at DCA. It's a ton of fun! I also love the tower of terror. It's not as good as the one at WDW, but it'll still get your heart pounding.

Hope you enjoy your trip to Disneyland! I recommend you ride all the rides WDW doesn't have to offer. Just to name a few: Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and Indiana Jones in Disneyland. While in DCA there is Monsters Inc., Grizzily River Rapids (great way to cool off in the California sun), and Screamin California.

AWESOME! We have reservations there, and I think Trattoria or some place like that. We're going once so I guess we're going big. It's a shame we're going to miss the Toy Story Vinyls and the 55th Anniversary sets.

Thank you ALL for your recommendations (HUGE hat tip to Garet for the PM). We're getting so excited about the trip and will DEFINITELY take in as much as we possibly can that Disneyland has to offer. Looking forward to World of Color, California Screamin', Indy, the Matterhorn, the Submarine voyage (I THINK I vaguely recall a similar ride there from about THIRTY years ago when I last went as a child), and Mr. Toad.

We have a couple of dups to try and trade in the trading stations while we're there (Miss Piggy, Blue Monorail, & Two Toontowns we got from Disneystore.com), so that'll be a new experience as well as we try and complete our Park 3 set.

Hello All-

Thanks for all your suggestions. We're back. There were a lot of differences between Disneyland and Disney World. It's definitely a "local's park", so nice that everything is so compacted and right there for you. The highlights: Indiana Jones, Big Thunder Railroad (my 7 year old insisted we ride it as much as possible), Pirates (SO much better than at Disney World), the fast passes we got from the "Give a Day, Get a Day" volunteer opportunity, California Screamin', and the World of Color. We really enjoyed dining at the Trattoria, and Blue Bayou (the Jambalaya was the best I'd ever had), and the Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza at Goofy's kitchen got high marks from ALL FOUR of us. I think I O'Ded on Pineapple Dole Whips and shared two Mickey Ice Cream bars with my kids on separate occasions.

Special thanks to Barbara of Chicago, IL who works at the "World of Disney" at Downtown Disney. She was a huge help with the Vinyls and my wife's new purse. We REALLY enjoyed trading vinyls at the different stores. Got incredibly lucky on two blind box selections, and I think we finally completed Park 3. We have to go through everything, but we'll have quite a few vinyls to trade if any are interested.
