Seeking Staff

As some of you know the past week has been very hectic for me. I had company in town the day of the (short notice) release of Urban 2 which delayed the major site update about half a week, and now I'm back in the hospital with kidney stones. I can still view the forum from my bed, but this is obviously preventing me from doing any site updates. Usually I have the What's To Come update the night of the Artist Signing but this one is going to be late. (Definitely check out Mouseman's thread for pictures and info.)

It has become obvious that the site has grown pretty rapidly and we need to add a few more Staff Members. Some of the duties include moderating the forum, taking pictures, occasional but rare phone calls to Disney stores and helping with site updates.

Preferably:

- Very active on the forum
-- Mod experience a plus
- A good knowledge of Vinylmation, including names, correct series, artist, etc.
- Photoshop, Dreamweaver & Filezilla a plus but not required
- Decent camera
- Access to a majority of the figures and willing to take pictures when needed
- Ability to act professional, even when provoked. You'd be surprised how malicious people can be with lies after a bad experience on the forum (being banned, etc.).

Most of these are just preferable traits and not required, so everyone can apply.

Also, we're looking for Moderators of specific forums. Overseeing Disneyland, Chit Chat, Games, etc. If you have an area of expertise and are interested in moderating that area of the forum, just let us know. It will be on a short trial basis to see if you're a good fit.

I'm looking for a few Staff members and several moderators. Don't miss your chance to get involved behind the scenes with one of the fastest growing Disney communities!

I love getting into the insdie scoop of Disney. I was a founding member of the Disney Enthusiast Club down in South Florida. I've done some photo shooting and video shooting for other events. Alright guys, finally got out of the hospital tonight so I can now give my full attention to getting the site up to expectations and then I'll be looking at picking some new staff. Just give me this week to talk things over with the current staff and come up with some decisions. Thanks guys!

Sledge, if you're the main creator of this site - excellent job! I don't mean because its all about vinylmation (which is cool in its own right), but more the way it is crafted and functions, the various tools, etc. It's obvious somebody who does this kind of stuff for a living made this site, and it's awesome that you did it without monetary gain. I'm sure this is repetitive stuff and if so I apologize, but bloody good show!

There is definitely a lot more interest in Staff positions than I thought there would be which makes it incredibly hard to choose. Obviously I'll only be able to go with a few of you guys, but what I would eventually like to do is have a special User Rank Bar for users that consistently send in pictures and updates. This would help you stand out as a top contributor to the site and as the site grows bigger and bigger may land you a Staff position.

One of the most important things with being Staff is keeping in close communication with the other staff through email, instant messengers and even text messages. From time to time (very rare) when you gather interesting pictures or important news you will throw them onto a template I'd provide you with to be uploaded onto the server. If you are interested in learning how to do that I can teach you, or you could also lay it out in a Word Document and I would then essentially copy and paste it into a VinylNation template. A majority of the time I can usually handle that work load pretty quickly, but then there are times like recently where something happens and I can't get to a computer for a few days.

That hardest part of VinylNation is when new Series come out. It's actually not very hard, it's just time consuming, so having a small Photoshop crew could be very helpful and time effective as well.

Just thought I'd go into a little more detail about the biggest areas I could use help in, but again, the skills aren't required to be a good Staff member.

I'd LOVE to do the photoshop help work. I may not have the money to do buy the actual figures and I doubt they would be provided to me to do the work, but if you need the help and have the photos of the figures and templates (logos you need to use, sizes/resolution of graphics that need to be made), then I can help you out in that aspect.

I am interested in learning how to put the important news on a template then upload it to the server, thanks for all that you do for this site! I also have photoshop but im still learning to use it.

i'm familiar with all of that, designing, graphic designing, photoshop, template building, editable content regions and all of that, etc. so if you need some assistance, just let me know whats up, but if you have found someone already, then that's cool.

I'd be willing to help out in any way, being a mod, etc. I've got a pretty decent camera and we're at WDW at least 2 times a year and on the cruise line at least once a year. We'll also be at next year's pin event. You've definitely got an excellent site here, there's no other site like it for vinylmation info.

P.S. glad you're feeling better!!!! My dad had the same thing yesterday. We spent all day at the ER.

This time we have decided to go with Mouseman. He has been a respected member of the forum since the beginning and is very knowledgeable of Vinylmation. We have some good things planned and he'll be helping out tremendously with D23 coverage!

As far as moderators go, we're still deciding how we're going to go about it. Everyone is still being considered and there may be several spots available. I think we definitely need a West Coaster to moderate the California category of the boards, since there is currently a huge Orlando representation (which may receive changes soon). I think it could breathe some extra life into that area of the forum by having someone that can give it their undivided attention and can post news, information and updates. It would be very important that this person be very familiar with Disneyland. Also, looking for a similar position for someone to moderate the Universal Orlando category.
