For me, there are two films I believe to be the most underrated sci-fis. The first is "Gattaca" staring Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawk, and Jude Law--directed by Andrew Niccol (The Truman Show). More recently, I came across the British indie film, "Moon," starring Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey (so to speak). Both films were absolutely fantastic. Great writing, great acting, and nothing over the top.
