I have no idea if a thread is up about this anywhere. I am a hardcore gamer. We online gamers use these FREE VOIP services to stay connected with each other during league, fun, or noob matches. Now with that pointless intro.

I was wondering if anyone uses Ventrilo, Teamspeax, Steam, Mumble, Cool guy chat, or Xfire.

I am asking this cuz Vent is a VOIP that is absolutely free, all you need to know is how to use your computer mike, or buy a headset.

Perhaps Sledge or any of us members can set up a vinylnation room where all members can log on and basically chat all day with each other while still living off this site. Saves your phone battery and saves your minutes. We can use to it for just about anything.

Idk, this is just a thought. I am on vent with league members most of the time while I am at home and while I play MW, MW2, and many other games.

I think this service is offered to all smartphones, for iPhone, we only have 1, Phonespeex.

Also, this is not skype, or anything similar, this is absolutely free.

I think this is an awesome idea. The only problem I see is profanity and the language others use. The admins will not be able to monitor this all day long.

I have heard people watching some adult rated things that might not be appropiate for the community as well LOL

Still a great idea if you can just invite people to make small rooms of people you know or want to just chat with.

i know the services your speaking of. i think its a valid idea. but as stated language would be a factor. and the admins would not be able to do anything about it.

well i really like this idea and i dont think language will be a factor as no one if forced to go into the chat knowin its like open bar up in there. its just gonna be a way to communicate with ur other VN buddies

love the idea, there could be a system where if someone is not following chat rules the members in the chat area could vote/flag that users for a violation. and wth a ceratain amount of votes/violations they could be timed out from the chat area. just a suggestion.

You are right for the most part. This is totally different. You can ban people if you are an admin. If you have ever used these services, you would know that they have a ton of options to control who logs on and who would be allowed to join the room. For my rooms, I set a standard PING, usually from 20-80, so depending on a users connection speed, where the server host lives, only people within that standard PING can join. I basically have mine setup to only allow the tri state area to join. I can't join an east coast site if they a have the same standard PING. Also, we are given the option to vote to kick anyone and possibly ban them from the room. So, not to get into a lecture, an admin, whoever creates the room and allows people to have admin options can enforce the rules. Naturally, we should be respectful toward each other as we all fluctuate in generation, style, and age range. My buddies and I are horrible with our mouths, but in admin rooms, we know to control our mouths. If it does get out of hand, we can ban them permanently. I have a software similar to rCon that sniffs out what is similar to a GUID and they will never be allowed to join our room again. They would have to create their own room and ask others to join. So I am sure that we wouldn't to blow our bridges cuz it would inflict our ability to trade, sell, and buy with one another. Our personality would reflect upon us. So I was thinking of another idea. Since People create groups on this site and invite people to join, as that is the only way to join, we could the same. Set up a room for topics, trades, and so forth. Special rooms that would need a password to log on should be the only rooms that are clean. Rooms with no password, well that's another thing. Those are usually filthy. The only thing I wouldn't want, is people to feel alienated. Perhaps users would want to be part of a group and the creator says no and the next thing we know we start clans against each other.

Love the chatting idea, don't really mind the profanity, I can get vulgar myself, it's nothing to me. But shrugs, I work 6 days a week, so I can't really see how I'd take advantage of this, other than using the chat already thru PSN or during the games. Oh wells.

I've used Vent and TS in the past. It's nice when you need to communicate to more than one person at a time, or are too lazy to type, it's more efficient. Not sure how much traffic we could get from VN members because everyone is on a different time zone and all, but it could be interesting.
