Poll & Discussion - For or Against Accessories For the Muppets??

So Sledge and I were discussing things we would like to have seen or would like to see. Sledge was for a tampo on Fozzie of his hat on one of the ears. I thought it would be great if they made an accessory of his hat and a rubber chicken to go with the vinyl. Then I proceeded to name off other items I think would be great to display with the other Muppets or to display them in - a balcony for Statler and Waldorf, Pots and Pans for the Swedish Chef, a Piano for Rowlf, etc.. Sledge was concerned that would make them more like toys and stuff to play with them. I really didn't see any harm in that.

Keeping in mind I am not saying full blown playsets, just items to go with them based on what they are missing - i.e. their major props, let's hear what you all think!

Iunno. I was thinking about the props just in general for VM. And I think I'd have to say no to the smaller type. But things like hats would be okay.

I know with the Dunny props, most, if not all are sitting in the box in the plastic. It's harder to keep track of them.

I think small accessories would be awesome. Not just for Muppets, though they fit in perfectly, but imagine light sabers for the Star Wars set as well. There are endless possibilities.

Rubber chickens, hats, glasses, and other things that they can hold, wear or stand on = GOOD

Chairs, pianos, sets or anything that is bigger than the actual figure = BAD

When they do decide to do props I hope they are included in the figure because I highly doubt I would buy anything that came separately.

Ok, I'll accept a bust of Mozart for Rowlf instead of a piano. But a little balcony for Statler and Waldorf would be great!! They need to be able to heckle from their balcony!!

I would have to agree with hauntedcollector once you start making accesories for them they become more like action figures and barbies in my opinion and lose their collectible appeal. I did hear though they are going to making kinda do it yourself vinyls though that will come with paint and stencils so you can make your own vinyls so you can paint your accesories on. Just my opinion though, not saying its wrong to want them, I personally wouldnt.

Almost all of the props listed I have from the Muppet figures. The VM's can use what the figures are not. Id still like stuff like Fozzie's hat and the Electric Mayhems instruments though.

If you add accessories the VM's become toys instead of collectables.

Even though I like the idea of the accessories, I would end up loosing them
or just leaving them in the box.
I still think Star Wars should have some.

I voted that we don't need accessories. I'd prefer the artists use their imaginations than create props, so if we need a balcony, paint a vinyl like a balcony. If we need a Gonzo with chickens or Fozzie with a hat and mic, there will be other series where they can produce those versions. Off topic, but for Buzz I'd rather him have a smaller head and a painted bubble, but it seems like that won't happen. The only series that may be good with accessories is Star Wars with light sabers and blasters, but even for those I think I'd prefer they paint them on.

I'm not too keen on props for the Muppet series, then again I'm not fanatical about the Muppets either (sorry ). The only series I would say really should have props would be the Star Wars series. I mean what is Star Wars without light sabers?? I have a Lisa Simpson Kid Robot holding a saxophone which I think is really neat. I wouldn't go as far as hats though, because some of the fun in VMs is seeing how creative the artists get. For example, as much as I would love to see Woody from Toy Story with his cowboy hat, I think it would be neat to see what the artists can come up with.

If VM does go with props, they shouldn't be big, and definitely no play sets/stages. Although I could see Disney release special display cases made especially for series like the Muppets or Toy Story that contains some of the art seen on the boxes. (All for a low price of $50 of course )

I think I would like a hat for fozzie, a banana for monkey, a little flag for stars and stripes and Easter basket for the bunny, maybe a pencil for animation, some trash for Push haha but I think a prop for every vinyl is too much!

I voted against accessories, but I'm kind of with Sledge on this one - if they actually came with the figures, then I'd just be meh. I certainly wouldn't throw them away. But I do remember as a kid, having hundreds of Barbies, and all the "accessories" that came with each one - high-heeled shoes, hairbrushes, microphones, belts, earrings...well, you get the picture. Long story short - they always managed to either get lost or get sucked up in the vacuum cleaner. Or thrown away when my mom stepped on something after she'd told me to put it away a jillion times. Not saying that I still leave my toys laying around the house...wait. Yes I do.

I'm all for accessories that attach to the figure in some way so they are not easily lost or falling off... I wouldn't want anything bigger than the figure, or anything that would prevent 12 from still fitting nicely into one of those Container Store cases

For a specialty series like this, I'm all for accessories. It's one thing that makes the Simpsons and Futurama kidrobot sets so fun. I like seeing what they'll come up with, sometimes obvious, like Lisa's Sax, and sometimes a total in joke for the fans, like Marge's hair dye. And they are all small enough to look great in the Container Store displays. Even some of the more specialty Dunnie, Like the Ol' England set, have some great accessories. But the normal park/urban series, I believe don't need accessories.

Count me as one of those against accessories. Part of the draw (pardon the pun) of vinylmations to me is to see all the different designs made on the same canvas of the vinylmation figure. I think accessories detract from that.

Strangely I missed this thread until now! Voted before I even realized how old the poll was, haha.

Yeah, I'm all for small props, and don't really care for items like hats that just get painted on.
