Have you, or anyone else, had experience with sharing an individual pizza there? I've seen the pics, and I know my mom and I could split one individual pizza and get dessert and be fine. But I've read elsewhere that some of the servers give you a hard time or don't "allow" you to split an individual. This would be a problem for us; the pizza for 2-3 people would be way too big for the 2 of us, and I know my dad wouldn't eat it. He likes meat of some kind on his pizza.
I can't imagine there's a hard and fast rule about sharing entrees. I don't recall what size pizzas we ordered, but everyone tried slices from each pie.

I can, however, imagine that the servers would give people a hard time. It's not a very complimentary thing to say, and it reflects badly on all of us with Italian heritage, but generally speaking, the CMs in the Italian pavilion aren't necessary the most polite or friendliest people around. That's not to cast a pall on all of them, but I've found that in a slight majority of interactions there, particularly with the food servers, there seems to be a lack of basic courtesy or an air of condescension that creeps into their attitudes. It's neither here nor there, just something I've noticed that seems to be mostly centralized in that area. So I can see people feeling discouraged in the restaurant.

If you're worried about sharing being an issue, I'd probably recommend just not telling them. Just order your food - there's really no reason to say, "we'd like such and such, and the two of us will be sharing." The only issue to me would be plates, and there will already be small plates on the table from the bread course. If you feel like you want a bigger plate, and they won't give it to you, there's still no reason to worry - the server stands are spread throughout the main floor, so it's easy to just walk up and take your own plate.

What? That's okay to do! Just be coy about it.

Thanks, Phylers. That's good advice, and I will file it away for my trip. I haven't eaten in the Italy pavilion since Tutto Italia was Alfredo's. I never had a problem at Alfredo's; our last waiter ever there was a total sweetheart who told us all about his hometown and even showed us pictures. But I have read some real horror stories about some of the staff at Tutto! We share meals elsewhere, and never had a problem since we pay OOP. Just a bizarre thought to me that they would say "No, you cannot share an individual pizza!" Particularly when we've even shared meals at places like California Grill!

It's funny you say that too, because the stand-offish/condescension complaints used to, in my experience, always be about the restaurant CMs over in France. Over there, I've only noticed an issue a couple times with rude hostesses. Otherwise, either I've never been that unlucky, or I simply don't notice it since I studied French (language and culture) for many, many years. My fave waiter in all of WDW works (worked?) at Chefs, actually.

We found Via Napoli to be a really cheap meal, so in terms of tips they will lose out slightly if you share. So this might impact on their behaviour.

I've heard that about the French CMs, too, but I haven't seen it as often or as blatant.

Is pizza that expensive in the UK these days?

$16/17 for the size of the "Individual" pie is pretty crazy, even for WDW, and almost $30 for the 8-slice large pie is highway robbery. I'm not saying it's a bad restaurant, but the biggest problem with it is the prices.

Our favorite two dishes to order is the Candelle pasta & the Quattro Formaggi pizza. The Individual can be shared by two non-starving people IMO, that way you have room to enjoy dessert, which we never are able to

^That should work out well, then. I ended up having to make that dinner on the day we eat at Le Cellier for lunch, so we will definitely need a light meal at night.

I think these days half of my enjoyment of WDW is thanks to the food. Restaurants in my neck of the wood are severely lacking.

I went to Via Napoli on Thursday (Had to switch parks for the day because of the Obama being at MK ) I had the Rigatoni with creme sauce & chicken (I don't recall the actual name) it was really, really good, desert looked better then it tasted & Godiva Martini was great for a Disneyworld drink. Will do it again next year for sure!

I went to Via Napoli in September, and it had to be our best dining experience of our trip. It was a very fun place to eat, and our waiter was unbelievably entertaining. The food was pretty good too.
