    Dinosaur

Just wondering, me and my boyfriend went for the first time this past June, and we rode it, it seemed really cool. The only thing was that at the very end everything went black for a what seemed like at least a couple of minutes and we were just sitting there, then it started up again. Just wondering if it was normal?

No, haha. There must have been stopped due to a system malfunction or assistance for a handicapped guest.

Besides being very jerky the ride was fine for my boyfriend and me, but we had a similar problem on Pirates, it stopped for a full 15 minutes right at the end! It was a bummer.

Haha. Consider yourself lucky. You broke down at the best part. You may remember right before the darkness (which normally only goes dark for 3 seconds or so) the dialogue says "You're not going to make it! You're not going to make it! *pitch black* *lights turn on* You made it!"

But from the sound of things you got:

"You're not going to make it! You're not going to make it! *extended pitch black*"
"Uh, did we not make it?"

Always cracks me up when we break down at that part.

HaHaHa Sledge, that seems like it would be the best part to break down at. We only broke down once within the ride itself, by the Pterodactyl, which was ok.

I have been stopped on Dinosaur twice now in the same spot (where you are getting chased). The funny thing is is that the car still shakes but doesn't move forward.

I rode this ride once back in 2000. I haven't been back to AK since then but back to the world. I'm going in March and can't wait to ride it again. I thought it was a great ride and when I went to Universal, I was disappointed that JP wasn't as good. I thought it would be better but was not.

This quite possibly could be my favorite ride in AK. And i must say, the irony of when it broke down just as we were supposed to escape made me laugh. Much to the dismay of the other riders with me.

Didn't the Dinosaur ride open about the same time as the Jurassic park ride at IOA? When comparing them I think the one at IOA is much better..of course, then again, I just like water rides

The dinosaurs at DAK look a whole lot better. I like the drop at IOA but I value more the dark, scary feel of Dinosaur better. JP just isn't that thrilling when it comes tot he dinos.

    Agreed.

JPRA would be so much better if they actually TRIED with their dinosaurs. Half the time when I go on that the skin from the stegosaurus is hanging off and looks really bad. I also love how the first dinosaur (can't remember what its called) lifts its head and long neck up only to come right back down and look fake before the guests' boat passes by.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen machinery peeking out behind the skin of the dinos at IoA last time I went.

I think JP was a response to Splash Mountain. The one in CA. opened ealier I believe and the one in FL opened in '99. With all the water rides at IOA I think its pretty clear they were trying to build some similar to Splash Mountain.

Dinosaur opened in '98 not sure if it opened with the park or was a bit delayed. Its just made so much sense to build a dinosaur ride from a synergy stand point and from the fact that Disney was building an animal park. I do feel that Dinosaur is a much better ride. I think the JP ride is a microcosm of the park. Very good idea, poor execution.

Anyone know whats up with the photo part on Dinosaur. Usually the pic is on the right with a full body carnotaurus. Last week when we rode Dinosaur the pic was in the same spot but on the left with the head and upper body of what looked like a different dinosaur just sitting out a window. Alsothe ride seemed slower and not as rough. Is this a permanent change? Definitly didnt feel like the same ride.

I read about this on a disney news and rumors site. Although I not exactly sure what the difference is b/c I'm not sure where the take your picture at. Apparently there are two dinos there but people only ever focus on the bigger one. I guess they are refurbishing that dino at the moment.

This ride is a whiplash fest. All it does is jerk you around and show you some animatronics. If you combined this ride with Juarrasic Park at IOA then it would be an awesome ride.

Not normal but funny!!! This is our favorite ride!!! We have tried each row of the car and found that you get the best ride in the last row.

my wife and i went for our honeymoon last year and we had such a blast at all the parks especially on dinosaur. every car that had a kid on it was crying and we had no idea why. when we went on it my eyes got big. dinosaurs eating other ones a giant one chasing us and then at the end when they take your picture and it looks like you crapped yourself. we definitely had to go on that one numerous times and it sure beats indiana jones we have at disneyland

I didn't even know this ride existed until our last trip! We always thought it was a kiddie ride until we made time for it this year. It's by far the best scare at a disney park! Those pictures are always great!
