    How many is too many?

I'm quickly realizing that these little vinyls are incredibly addicting.. I've already filled two shelves in my bookcase and obviously will be getting more.

I was thinking putting a cap on the collection... like no more than 250.. and if I "must" get one more, I must give one up?

Does anyone practice this? How successful have you been

To me, "too many" is when I have spent money on ones that don't fit into my collection, or don't need. In other words, if I find myself buying just because a new one is out, regardless of what the design is, than I've bought too many.

This has already happened, and I'm in the process of slimming down my collection to only include certain ones. I've done well to stick with this plan, and it's made me really appreciate my collection.

For me to many is over 1000. It's getting hard for me to find certain vinyl's when I'm looking for them at this point.
    Go big or go home.

bloxing = blind boxing. when you buy a box that you dont know the contents of. this is kind of like gambling.

it all starts with a handful of vinyls that take up a couple of shelves on a single display case in a single room...that turns into several dozen vinyls that require a couple of display cases in a different room...that turns into several hundred vinyls that require multiple rooms.

maybe i should re-evaluate my priorities

I'm at about 500-600 vinyls now. I figured I can't really collect everything lol so I mostly just try to complete all of the park series :p.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this "too many" concept you speak of. My wife, on the other hand, may.

    Seconded.
There can never be "too many"...however, restraint can be put into practice. Go after what you like regardless of what number your collection is at. Like I am addicted to them and as much as I want to go out and blox somethings, I don't. There is nothing out at the Disney stores around me that I want...so I wait and be patient - well...I did buy the 9" Roger Rabbit and a 9" Fantasyland Trashcan...but I didn't blox anything. See, that is restraint in action.

I have been a pez collector since around 94-95 and still collecting, so vinylmation and the fact they are Disney related makes me believe that I will be collecting them for many years to come. So me at this moment I don't have a number where I can say "Ok that's enough" at this time.

I think that a three step process is helpful when trying to answer you "how many is too many?" question.
1 - Can I pay the rent this month?
2 - Have the children been fed?
3 - Is there any room left to display another vinyl?
If you can answer yes to all of these, then proceed with a clear conscience. Unfortunately, #3 is starting be be a challenge for me and Mickey's Circus is only a month away.

Space constraints may force me into focusing my collection on the Jr's.

No worries, archie! You can always send some of those my way! /Problem solved!

For me, I always have to start re-evaluating my collection when I began searching for somewhere else to display them in my room, or when I start to debate building another shelf. I look through and have to decide "is it worth it, or can I let some of these find a new home?" More often than not recently though, I've just accepted that it's worth it

I have no idea what number We're ( by "we're," I mean I, to subconsciously justify it's a family collection instead of my) at now. Im not going to count, though I should to trim down the sheer number of them. I also limited to collecting the park series, specific urbans and randoms at this time. Ive, I mean we've started collecting Park Starz more now. I can't wait for star wars 2 though! Oh and "we've" made it a point to trade more instead of blind boxing and buying specific ones.
