Has anyone seen any cards that have been manipulated ( hand cut corners ) and are being promoted as beta's ? I feel like this was inevidable but I hope that people aren't faking these cards too!

May the trades & blind boxing be ever in your favor!

The original cards did have squared edges. By original in this case, I mean the ones that were handed out primarily to CMs during the very first soft open phase. Some of those were given to very early guest players, as well. Beyond that, guests have been given two types of cards - the originals, which were a thicker card stock and had much more rounded corners, and the current cards, which are kind of a mix of a squared/curved corner and a very thin card stock. In that sense, I think it's hard for anyone to really say what is and isn't authentic unless you have some of those cards to compare to.
Granted, as it stands now, these are very easy to reproduce on your own. I've seen plenty of folks playing with 61-70, but when you ask, they admit they just printed out images at home and glued them to index cards in order to play them. Give somebody with the time and the desire a chance, and they could produce near-perfect replicas.
The fakes I've seen are quite obvious not even the same type of paper. Haven't seen any good fakes yet.
I just looked at my cards (all obtainted directly at the park) and the cards with less rounded corners - the newer ones - the copyright is placed differently. You really wouldn't be able to intentional make the corners "more round" to pass as a beta without chopping off some of that copyright text.

That's kind of a relief.I mean, I'd like to think most of us who have played for a while could tell by touch; it's just such a glaring difference in the sturdiness. I kind of miss the more durable cards, to be honest.

The copyright find is good for newer players or folks away from the parks, though.
It's only a matter of time, but since the cards are free, hopefully it will deter the more determined forgers.![]()
I'm hoping since 61-70 are supposed to be re-released no one will try to make a good fake of them. Cause when they are more common we will see the fakes go away. A couple months ago I saw someone trading their fakes for star cards I felt the need to say they were fake and the person didn't care they just wanted to use the Ariel card.![]()

I mean honestly - a fake in this sense really isn't going to hurt anyone. It *will* work as long as the picture is on the card - and a lot of people just want to see the different spells. Being free, I think it's a lot less offensive than the talk of fake Vinyls that's been making the rounds lately. It's not really *hurting* anyone - but I still wouldn't partake in it. Honestly it has me wondering if that's part of why my #62 Dumbo card I've had on eBay hasn't sold in a month now! I didn't even realize there was paranoia about fake Sorcerers cards making the rounds until seeing talk of it tonight.

I knew the possibility was out there for fakes to turn up, especially since ripping off trading cards has been around since, well, since trading cards probably, but I never really thought anybody would bother with Sorcerers cards.
For what it's worth, I wouldn't question your Dumbo.![]()
I just wish the people who bought the last ones on eBay for crazy cash were still in the market ;o) Lovvvvve the idea of $200 for a free trading card!
BTW Phylers - TOTALLY right about knowing the cards just by feeling their weight. Part of why I'm selling my Dumbo is because I'd rather just have all of them uniform. I'd personally go crazy having one original mixed in.![]()
