Hello from Germany!

Hello, I am a 23 years old brazilian female that lives in Germany with her 25 year old german husband.

I always loved disney movies, and april this year I went to Disneyland Paris for the second time in my life. I knew I wanted some Star Wars souvenirs and when I found the vinylmations I fell in love. I bought 4 and got c3-po, r2d2 and a stormtrooper. I also got an extra c3-po that i decided to keep to give to one of my best friends.

For years now I wanted to start a toy art collection, and now I found vinylmation I know this is it! but I don't want a HUGE collection. less than a 100 for sure. 100 tops. I want to be able to display them nicely and chose only vinylmations that really speak to me, not just because they are cute.

My husband will make a reformation to two shelves we have to make just one, only for vinylmations. there will be space for 5 rows, and 12 or 13 will fit in each row. the middle row I will leave for bear bricks, the others will be for vinylmations only.

Yesterday I just ordered the complete nightmare before christmas set, that will take one of those five rows. I plan to slowly complete the star wars collection (including, if I'm lucky, both chasers), so that will take another row.

I also ordered yesterday the spooky mickey and minnie, and another of those shelves will be just for mickey and minnie couples. Others i want to add to this row are the geeky ones, the sparkly ones from anniversary and... no idea so far, so a list of mickey and minnie of the same collections would be greatly appreciated! in the middle of those i want to get one custom made with the date me and my husband got married.

i have no idea what will be the theme for the fifth row, but that is the fun of it, isn't it? i have plenty to buy for now to keep myself busy until i figure this out.

I also will collect vinylmations of countries I have been to. So far only 7 countries, so not too many, but will be adding to that collection over time when i visit new places, but for the ones that will be in the shelf.. once that is full, that is that. the flag vinylmations will be kept with all the souvenirs my husband and I buy from trips (miniatures from landmarks). I am searching a french armoire to keep this collection, but no luck finding the one I want so far.

Anyway, I am happy to have found this forum and be able to talk about this new found obsession with people that will understand.

I think I rambled a little bit, so if anything is confusing, please ask, I have no problem to answer!

Well, my family lives in Brazil, I live in Germany, a really close friend of mine in the Netherlands, my best friend in England (London), a good friend in France (Paris), I have family in Switzerland. So I will only be in trouble if the one for Spain is exclusive to the country. lol

Sounds like you have a chance to get some really cool vinyls that us Us peeps can't get easily! Get ready for bombardment haha! Italy, France, Dublin are the ones I can think of off the top of my head that have exclusives, I'm probably missing a few but I'm sure someone will add to your thread and fill in the blanks! ;)

Some of them were on sale on ds.com, from what I understand the availability of the us ds.com site is different than other international sites, but I could be wrong again I am sure someone will correct me as there are many members from different countries here on the forums that know more than I do about that. The flags were available at the parks ( I saw them in Epcot when I was there in April) and I am sure you can trade for them ( use the forum to trade with members once you meet the guidelines and rules for trade) and there is always ebay

I have never ben in the USA, but my brother will go there in july, I might give him a list of the flag vinylmations I want so he can buy them for me. do you know how much one costs and in which park can he find it? the boy doesn't work without specific directions!

try ebay and when your brother goes to the usa he may even try the outlet stores as some will sell vinylmation but all depends on what they have on the day

i am sure our members from the usa will be able to point him in the right direction

Thank you for the reply! it is his third time in the USA and he has been to the parks before, so at least he won't be as lost as he usually is... How nice is it that london has special ones! i will go to london myself in some months, so i might buy them myself!

I believe the flags were in the 9-12 us $ range, but some were on sale for around 40% off on us ds.com site, haven't seen them in a bit though- at the parks they will be full price. I am not sure if d street would be a good place to get all of them at once, hopefully a local can post what d street has in stock otherwise he would have to visit the shops at each country's pavilion at Epcot

what is the ds.com website? and do they ship outside the US? if not, I have a couple of friends that might help me get it (from a trollbeads forum, my other collection. I made great friends there that help me get beads that can't be shipped to Germany! luckily beads don't take up much space, and i bought a HUGE bead "villa". seriously, my bead box will be able to hold my collection forever, no matter how much it grows.)

There is plenty of fellow europeans on here from the UK, Ireland, netherlands, Finland, Italy and France.

There are a number of ways for you to get vinyls, since you;ll have the same problem as us across the channel.

Disneystore.com - A great choice of vinyls but shipping is very expensive to Europe...
disneystore.co.uk - while .de has a limited selection of vinyls, disneystore.co.uk (which is run by the same company as .de) has over 20 vinyls (wow never thought i would say that), which ship to the the rest of europe for less than .com
DLP mail order - while shipping is a little expensive (less than .com) you can get vinyls sent straight from Disneyland Paris's mail order service but you have to pay the euro rate (which your used to anyway) or just take a drive down there (depending how far you are away)
forums/facebook groupss - and you can buy/trade with people on here and facebook groups..(like the UK one which other european's also use)

take a look around the site and search, you;ll find plenty of info.

What an amazing and informative post, thank you for that! I didn't even know about those disney stores, which is silly, because i should have known! thank you so much for pointing me to the right direction!
As I said, for now i have 3 star wars characters, have the spooky mickey and minnie on my way and the whole nightmare before christmas set on my way as well. the next one i will buy will most likely be the whole set of torn legacy, so i don't have anything to trade, really

I am checking disneystore .co.uk right now, and I see 5 VM that I want to buy (the geek mickey and minnie , the great britain flag and the paris mickey and minnie)! As soon as I have more money I will buy the complete torn series and after it I will start to buy those 5 from disneystore! I am really excited!

Totally jealous that your in Germany and that you went to the Paris Disney..I went there once when I wwas a teenager and it was amazing..very unique and different from mine

Anywho..it looks like you have a nice start and plan to your collection.
I'm like you..I don't plan on having a huge collection..just a small collection of the ones that have a special theme to me

I really want only vinyls that hold special childhood memories, so i will mostly collect VMs with disney movie themes i guess, as i never went to WDW i don't need to collect the parks VMs as they don't hold any special meaning or memories for me. How long is it that you are collecting?

I got some vinyls stuck at customs and my husband and I will pick it up monday! i hope it won't be too expensive in customs fees :/

Yeah I am pretty much the same way..for the most part I'm wanting ones that are special to me somehow and most are childhood things...like the potc dog used to be my favorite part of riding POTC when I was little..so now I want it. I also love the animal characters like Meeko,Nala,Marie,etc..those are my favorite kinds of Disney characters.
I def. also want to get one that is special to DisneyLand and one for DisneyLand Paris since those are 2 i've been to once...but finding one for each is a little difficult hehe.

Oh lol..only a few weeks...I've been wanting to get into them but never did and then finally I just decided to. I've been doing it since like June and i'm having fun picking up cheap ones and trying trading them at the parks and stores...it's a lot of trading for ugly silly ones..but it's fun to see what you'll get and the hope of finding one you like lol.

Oh no hope they weren't too much in customs! Can't wait to hear what they were!
