    Price hike? Wow... steep.

This was just posted a few hours ago...

    http://www.ocregister.com/news/pass-...isneyland.html

I am a Premium passholder and have been for many years now, but wow. Steep increase.

Is the OC Register usually pretty accurate regarding these things? It says it goes into effect Sunday if I am reading it correctly.

$150 more for a Premium AP? Getting really hard to swallow being a Passholder in San Diego. Either they need to start adding some additional perks, or they might be losing a customer.

Same for us. Our passes are up June 24th. I'm tempted to either renew them ahead of time and lose a month or just skip a renewal.

Mine is in August. I think I'll save what I can to put however much I can to put down to help cut the monthly cost, but if next year this trend continues, I will seriously be looking at cutting ties with Disney.

I just feel for my sister and her family. For the three of them, it'll cost an extra $450 a year now. That's practically a whole other pass for someone at today's price. Ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure...you can renew before your passes expires. If you renew before you passes expire...they give you a $20 discount for deluxe or premium passes.

They sent us a card for a discount with early renewal like they do every year. This is just a bummer for future ones... plus I was iffy about renewing because we've been traveling less to DL lately. Decisions. Decisions.

at this rate, a premium pass will be over $1000 in three years.

I think I read though since they're raising prices, they are having extended hours to both parks. I think this was on the Disney Parks blog.

Yeah, that's about right. We definitely get a better deal here in Florida. If it went up here, I would question it. Right now, the price for the value and experience we get are on par. The new pricing for Disneyland just doesn't seem worth it.

It still doesn't seem worth it to me either. Florida gets a way better deal with two extra parks and two extra water parks. All we have in CA is two theme parks and that's it. They're trying to rip us off really badly now.

Ugh, I just found out about this the day before the change went into place...

$125 for a 1-day Park Hopper? That is freaking CRAZY!

I just bought an annual pass for the first time last year in July for $499 -- then I upgraded to the Premier for I think $250 more so I could visit WDW for the first time ever. I was thinking about renewing this year but the $150 increase in price is pretty much going to make me not renew. And again with the increase in regular tickets... it's just going to make it even worse as I will most definitely NOT visit the park more than once. I am only 1 meager customer to them but from what I've read here on this thread, it seems like they will be losing MANY customers and not gain many new ones. The $499 was hard enough to swallow.

Anyway, as much as I love Disney, I have to say that they are getting incredibly greedy.

The Walt Disney Company in 2011 had a NET Income of 4.8 BILLION Dollars! It is because of people like US that allow them to make their stupid money. And now they want to reward us with a significant hike in ticket prices? Unbelievable.

Disneyland Park (not incl Cal Adv) averages 16,000,000 visitors per year. Lemme take a totally non-scientific guess at the difference the hike will make for them...
lets say that all those tickets (2011 pricing) using average between 1-day Non Hopper ($80) and 1-day Hopper ($105) = $92.5
    $92.50 x 16,000,000 = $1,480,000,000
    2012 pricing: 1-day non-Hopper ($87) and 1-day Hopper ($125) = $106.00
    $106.00 x 16,000,000 = $1,696,000,000

A difference of $216,000,000!!! Huge margin of error here due to many factors not taken in, but still--- they stand to make a HUGE profit from this. Let's not forget the profits they make from overpriced food and souvies!

Honestly, I hope this backfires on them. 1-visit per year boycott anyone? LOL.

Last year I got a Disney pass for the first time ever. I got the So cal one and was planning on upgrading to premium for extra days and perks but this is way too much money. I agree with the person who said they should at least add an extra perk, maybe more extra hours for only passholders, extra discounts or something to try and appease the increase. At this point I am not sure if I will renew since my pass expires today. I am going to try and get it renewal at old price if not I'm not sure what I will do.

We just got our first Deluxe APs this past March but we were thinking about upgrading to Premium so we could go without restrictions and get a bigger discount on merchandise, but when we saw this price increase, that went straight out the window...plus that puts the likeliness of renewing next year when it will probably be even higher at slim to none.

Hey everyone, like many we are very much turned off by the recent price hike for DLR/DCA. In search of news about it, we came across this Change.org petition.

    http://www.change.org/petitions/the-...r-prices-back#

It is NOT originated by us but we just thought we'd share for anyone interested.

If you and tell them your situation they might still let you without going to the new price. I bought the So cal last year which expired on May 22nd and saw the news of it being increased right about the time I am trying to make decision about renewing. I decided if I could get the Premium at older price I would. so I went on the 23rd and explained how Disney sent me materials using the old price and wanting to upgrade to premium if I could do it at the old price, and read somewhere you just need to do it before June 15th. And the person let me get it at old price with monthly plan. But I will sign the petition for next year when I will have to make decision about renewing again.

In light of the price hike and not renewing we decided to make a last minute (sorta) trip down right after Cars Land opens. That way we can send our passes off in style.

Bummer but I guess it prompted a visit so we win in the long run. Even more return on our current passes. They've paid for themselves hand over fist now.

i guess i am the only one okay with the price hike. for all those not renewing their passes, a big thank you from me. you are just shortening the wait times for me. if this is the trend, disney please raise the price another 30% next year.

and this is a very smart strategic move by disney. if they lose 23% of pass holders they will still make the same revenue from pass holders, lessen the amount of people crowding the park and allowing the tourist more time to enjoy the park and spend their money. disney makes their money on tourist because they pay for parking, food, lodging etc. pass holders on the other hand hardly spend the type of money at the parks like tourist do.

and disneyland has over a million pass holders, so a decline in the number of holders will always be welcomed by me. ever since they went to the monthly payment thing, it has made disneyland more affordable, especially for locals. however, it also put annual passes in the hands of people who would have otherwise only bought a one day or two day ticket.

Surely the biggest idea with the annual pass isn't so much how much you spend on park tickets but how much per year you end up spending on food, drink, parking and other stuff. another thing is don't you all get 20% off your purchases at dstreet? So depending on how much you spend at dstreet (and how often), you still could be quids in... its a good job i'm not near a park...I'd spend a fortune...
