Great writing as always, mamawantsvinyls and Phylers, and welcome to the blog, rogpalmeruk!

I seem to be in the minority in that I'm excited for the Disneyland Paris set. I've just always felt such a fascination and admiration towards that park. I mean, their Haunted Mansion is totally different and there's a giant dragon under their castle! I do think it's weird that the Phantom is making an appearance in P9 if the Paris theme is for P10 and I hope they maybe move him back, if at all possible (probably not. )

Big thanks for inviting me in to throw in my two pence ! Really enjoyed doing it.
It does seem strange that the phantom is in park 9 instead of 10.

Great read as always mama and Phylers. And congrats on your blog debut rogpalmeruk. Always interesting to see a non-US perspective on things.

Great job guys! Not a popular bunch of vinyls talked about this week and i have to agree except for one thing.

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in the US reception for Park #10. It's the Park series, not US Park series. And it's featured vinyls from over seas parks before. If you like Disney and you like the art, what does it matter what Park it's from? Paris deserves the attention in it's anniversary year, just like Disneyland and WDW did. I'm sure I'm biased because I have actually been to Paris but I haven't been to Tokyo and I know I'd be excited for a set dedicated to them! The Japanese vinyls are always so bright and beautiful, can you imagine what a whole Park series would look like?

No, it might not be the most popular Park series but anything has to be better then Park #3 or #6, right?

Just to clarify, I don't take issue with Paris getting a commemorative Park Series. Just bummed that if Disney was doling out Anniversary sets to each Disney Park, then DLR was definitely snubbed during the 55th. Maybe they're just focusing on 10s, so I'll give them that. Baby steps to 60 years, Disneyland...

However, I equally have no problem with other people voicing the opinions they have on all sides. Some are disappointed, some are indifferent, some are excited. I appreciated reading Phylers' and rogpalmeruk's comments on the series and love the variety this article provides. All sorts of collectors make up this happy growing site.

A Tokyo Park Series would be exciting to see, indeed!

I'm actually holding judgement till I actually see the designs. While I have no connection to DLP, if I like the designs I'll still buy it

There can be little doubt that making Park 10 themed around the paris parks is going to stir up collectors, as someone who has visited both US parks as well as those in Paris and Japan, means I'm not so connected to a single park as I feel while they are all different, there are similar. I also think since both 7 & 8 were based on the 40th WDW one, then park 10 is DLP themed, I get that DLR fans feel they are getting left out, but that could very easily be Park 11 & 12. Disney is a global company and thinks globally (most of the time), they are trying to grow the vinylmation brand to be worldwide but some collectors do think the park vinylmations are special and should almost be purely based on the US parks as that's in general, since many associate Parks with just DLR/WDW.

Nothing wrong with that, the US is the biggest buyer of Vinylmation, but below are some figures for 2010
WDW Magic Kingdom- nearly 17 million
    Disneyland- nearly 16 million
    Tokyo disneyland - 14 1/2 million
    DLP - 10 Million
Hong Kong 2010, with 5.2 million visitors

    * numbers were from a couple of sources and aren't 100%

Looking at those numbers, it makes sense for Disney to grow the Vinylmation brand worldwide, while the US might buy more vinyls now, to not go after the Asia and European market would be silly..
Yes they could have made the Paris themed blind box series not a park, but in reality why not?

I think we all have our views, some will love it, some will hate it, we each decide what we buy, if the Paris Park 10 doesn't sell, it will go to the outlets and they won't make that mistake again..
Vinylmation is a worldwide collectable and I love that people from across the globe come together to talk about their love for these little bits of plasic, that's why i'm here.

Great Job as always mwv and Phylers. Welcome to the DYST Blog Team rogpalmeruk

I enjoyed all the perspectives especially with this being a bit of a slow week.

But I may be very selective, as I thought the P6 Space Mountain Paris was a great design. But since I had no connection to it I decided not to keep it in my collection.

Fantastic job to all! I'm glad Rogpalmeruk wrote this week, I love his opinions around the boards.

"Does it not bother you that an earthquake can come any day now and sink California and your original park into the Pacific Ocean? All the surfing, SUV-driving, tofu-eating blondies with rock-hard abs and tans might go their entire lives never knowing what the special packaging might look like for a DLR commemorative Park Series." mamawantsvinyls

"It might cause some US collectors to have a heart attack at the thought they can’t have everything instantly, but let us European’s have a special for a while, as I’m sure Park Series #10 will get released in the States at some point just as the other Paris exclusives." Rogpalmeruk
I'd actually support this set to be released over seas first, then a lag on US release. It certainly would make me more apt to seeking out any designs I like! I think I may have to separate this series from its title and just collect what designs I enjoy based on their theme and art.

"What do you get when your ice cream eats a clown? The Vinylmation So Tasty Series answers that question for us!" Mamawantsvinyls
    So funny!

    Collecting since September 2010

Park 3 was a great set. It only ran into trouble thanks to the massive overproduction. Park 6 ... yeah.

I'm fine with inclusions in a broader Park Series - Park 6 had Space Mountain Paris, which was neat, and Park 9 has the Phantom Manor guy. I might be mistaken, as I don't have the figure, but I think Park 4 was Tokyo's Astro Orbiter. I question dedicated series, though. Likewise, though I Park 7 and 8 as a WDW homer, I did wonder how Park 8 would play around the world (Park 7 is amazing from top to bottom, no matter where you're from). At least Buddy Boil and the Nautilus make/made appearances at DLR. The rest is pretty specific to WDW.
