    Mass Effect Trilogy

Since we have a separate thread for some other games I figured I'd start one for this much anticipated, much talked about, much controversial game of the year so far. I know the game came out over a month ago, and having said that I'm sure a lot of you have played it or are in the process. This is a thread for all things Mass Effect since IMO (and many others) is one of the best gaming trilogies of all time. Feel free to discuss everything and everything, but let's try to keep away from the spoilers in case there is someone who hasn't yet experienced the greatness that is Mass Effect.

I never played Mass Effect when it was released back in 2005 because I didn't have an Xbox 360 but in the recent past I have bought a computer powerful enough to run the game without any lag or graphics issues. I bought both ME and ME2 on Steam for $20 and played all of last summer playing both games and I was totally blown away. The graphics, the overall story, the storytelling and the individual stories of each characters made me love this game instantly. I also loved the fact that you can import your saved games from 1-2-3 (only ME being included on PC and 360) and the choices, for the most part, drastically effect dialog and attitude from different characters in the following games. I feel there is a tremendous amount of reply value as you can make a different decision in each game and see how it impacts the following game. I played through Mass Effect in about 25 hours and thought they needed some upgrades in the second game as some of the exploration and battle mechanics needed some tweaking and boy did I love what they did. I like how they made the ME2 weapons thermal clips instead of energy based and therefore didn't have to wait a fe seconds while your gun cooled down from overheating. I also liked how they redid the inventory system because now I didn't have to break down weapons all the time from being overloaded in my inventory among many many other things. I played through ME2 in about 25-30 hours but had to replay it a second time because of something that happened in the last mission (those of you who have played will understand) that would greatly effect ME3. Ever since I finished the second installment I eagerly awaited March 6th, 2012 when I could wait outside gamestop at midnight and get this potential Game Of The Year. The days followed and I played it for hours (not having a job does that to you :-/) and I was not disappointed.... that is until I started reading about the "famous ending" and started to search for videos of this. I agree with everyone in that the ending is complete garbage though I won't go into spoilers. I haven't finished story mode even though I'm 1 mission away from the end because I messed up royally and I'm very mad that I just don't want to finish. To those of you who have not played, or are in the process I give you this very very important tip: IF THERE ARE PRIORTY MISSIONS ON A PLANET ALONG WITH OTHER NON PRIORITY MISSIONS... DO THE PRIORITY MISSIONS LAST!!!! That's where I messed up and I'm not happy, but alas one day I'll finish it.

I've currently been playing multiplayer on PC and I think it's pretty awesome but I have to go about it a different way than my character in story mode. In single player I'm a soldier and I go in guns blazing and shooting everything in sight, but in multiplayer I'm finding that being a soldier isn't as easy as it is in single player. I'm having more success with biotic powers such as with the Adept or Vanguard classes and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I like how you can buy the weapons and accessories and power ups in a store that you get from using credits you earn in multiplayer.

Overall I love the Mass Effect trilogy and I'm so happy I chose to buy the first 2 last year. I strongly urge all gamers to check out this awesome trilogy because you will definitely love it. Everything about it is great.

I definitely agree with you. The Mass Effect games are just awesome. ME1 and ME2 have become my favorite games ever but my favorite is ME2. I liked ME3 but there were just so many things that were lacking (like the ending) that made it my least favorite. What was done to some characters made it my least favorite also. I haven't played singleplayer since I finished my one playthrough. I know it's a good game but I was just so disappointed by so many things about it that I don't really feel the urge to play it anymore. But I will always love my Shepard and that world no matter what happens. I hope the DLC they are coming out with fixes some things.

As for mulitplayer, I really liked it and played it alot when the demo came out but I haven't played since the day the game came out. But I actually miss it and I think I will play again soon. Playing as a soldier is definitely challenging. I found it kind of hard to play as a Drell vanguard also since I kept dying probably since the drell doesn't have much armor to protect it. But my favorite one has so far been the Asari Adept. Going up close with a shotgun and using stasis is very helpful.
The Reaper enemies are pretty hard for me. I wasn't even able to complete one bronze wave because everyone died I haven't downloaded the Resurgence DLC but I'm looking forward to playig as a Geth. Not as a Batarian since they are very ugly

But yeah like Scott said, if you haven't played these games, definitely give them a try. But I would definitely start with Mass Effect 1 eventhough it's old. It's too good of a story to start in the second or third game.

I usually always complete my multiplayer missions and I find that I'm best with vanguards and adepts both being human. I agree with you about the Drell vanguard class. I started a game and quickly quit as it wasn't very good. I'm waiting and hoping I'll get the Geth in my packs so I can play as that. I should try the Asari adapt. I have 1 1/2 levels left until I reach 20 on that class so maybe next time I'll switch and see how that works. I think Pull and Biotic Charge are my 2 favorite biotic powers as I use them nonstop and especially when I'm in a jam. I was looking at a walkthrough and tips and stuff about the game and I didn't realize how little your options are for weapons in multiplayer. There's probably only about 15-20 options for guns combined in all types and most of them only go up to the second powerup which annoys me a little.
