    Disney rain

Headed to DLR next Saturday for a 5 day stay. Looks like we've got rain in our forecast for the first couple days. Anybody have any tricks for staying dry(ish)? Trying to come up with dry day rides versus wet day rides. Maybe shows on wet days? Anybody have any other ideas?

I've never been to DL but I've been in WDW when it rained almost every day. I think ponchos are really important in keeping dry. Also, if you use a backpack or anything of the sort, I think it's important to put things that would be ruined by rain (cell phones, cash, etc.) in ziplock bags. You might find that some shows or parades are cancelled if the rain is really heavy.

Best of luck and have a great time!

I am a huge fan of Disneyland in the rain. The more rain the better. Rain keeps the local crowds away so you can walk on almost anything. If you are not a fan of getting wet I would recommend Aladdin, Tough to Be A Bug, Muppetvision, and the Animation Building in DCA. They are all pretty close together and the Animation Building has a couple shows and the Sorcerer's Workshop to go through.

Over in Disneyland there are not a lot of shows. You have Captain EO and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. My mind is blank on remembering anything else. You can always go on Pirates and Haunted Mansion to stay out of the water for a while. I personally love riding Big Thunder in the rain. It is just fun.

Personally, I love the rain. I'm hoping to make sure our entire party has a great time. Thanks for the suggestion. I thought about ponchos but not keeping other stuff dry. Luckily, my backpack has a waterproof cover. YAY!!

Totally agree with you there! big thunder is awesome in the rain!

There is also the Innovations place... I haven't been in there since I was really little but that's worth a shot if it gets heavy. Also, if it rains hard enough and the lines are not too crazy, then waiting 20 or so minutes for space mountain is a good one.

Also, the Golden Horseshoe has random shows on different given days. check online to see what they have going. Their chili bread bowls are pretty dang good when it comes to warming up.

If i think of anything else, I'll be sure to let you know.

Rain boots. Nothing can interrupt Disney magic like soggy socks.

Otherwise, I love Disney in the rain! Have lots of fun!

You might as well go on Splash Mountain a few times since you'll already be wet :P

If you need to take cover go to the Carnation Pavilion. It's right next to the Castle, and there's lots of chairs.

We were wondering if the water rides operated as usual. I really like the rapids at DCA.

When I was up there on Sunday (3/11/12), I overheard a Cast Member saying that the Grizzy river run was still closed. That is one of the few rides they close at the beginning of the year for a couple months so they can do renovations.

Mattahorn was also closed and has been since Jan. If you can, Let me know if either is open when you go up.

Will do. I think the Matterhorn is supposed to be closed for another month or two. Kinda disappointed about grizzly river.

Rain and Disneyland is like pulling a chaser in your first 4 blind boxes...it's amazing. The *most* fun I've had at D-land has been in the rain...and it's so rare in So-Cal you have to savor it. The crowds vanish. The experiences become unique. Pray for Lots of rain, and drop $6 on a couple PVC parkas..then ride Splash Mountain, and Grizzly River with impunity!

    Pray for rain!!11!

Well, all of our rain was forecast for this morning. Seems it didn't happen. Rained last night. Even better, seems nobody else got the message. We hit up 7-8 rides in the first 2 hours. Seems like we've hit up almost every ride today. And we've still got 3 days left. :-) Bloxed quite a bit of park 8 and POTC. Having a great day.
