It took me a bit to get the saying to show up, but mine says I'm on a distinguished road. I got a laugh out of it since I'm working on my PhD right now.

I know, I didn't know about this for the longest time, and thought it was pretty neat, so now I check it all the time Yes, thank people whenever you feel their post is useful, peoples. You might make them famous soon enough, or their name known to all, or something else awesome

How did I miss this thread. I've been doing the "thanks" thing for people that post pics in the collections, mail day and Vinylmations all around threads, because I think those actions make the user stand out as a part of the community. Now I can just use the reputation button and not clog up the forum as much.

I read through the thread and I think giving thanks is the same as giving a positive rep. You can give a negative rep, though. My comment was that I can give the positive rep w/o adding the thanks bar below a post, as it takes up space within the thread.

I could be wrong, though. If so, I'm sure a mod will clarify how it works.

Oops, I meant the people who hijack a sale/trade thread with stuff that doesn't belong, more like you'll never get what you are asking for.

OK, thanks for clarifying. I learned all of this today, you can "disapprove" of what someone says using the "sheriff badge" next to the thanks button.

I've noticed it's been changing each time you get a new box, or reach a new level, which is based on how much rep you get (i.e. being thanked) Sledge explained it like this in post #2

You will get a new box at:

10
50
150
250
350
450
550
650
1000
1500
2000

These are points and are based off of rep power. The more points YOU have, the more points you give others when they give reputation. For example, the Staff has a Rep Power of 20. Any time we give reputation the member will receive 20 points. You have a lower Rep Power, so you will be giving considerably less points.

I've been a splendid one to behold for a while, so I suppose now I have much to be proud of!
