Hello everyone! Ive been on this forum for awhile but I mostly joined for the HHN community. Im here once again to bring you a scare by scare reveiw of Horror Nights 21. I base my review on Scaracting, Technology, Scare Tactics, Costuming, and Fun. Overall this year topped last year INCREDIBLY. From Icon, to Scarezones. I didnt really have a gravedigger house this year (gravedigger means overall bad), however, I had 2 Gravedigger zones. There definately needed to be more action on the streets. The scareszones were very tiny this year. They most definately need to be bigger. I think they focused alot more on Houses than they did Scarezones but thats just what I think. The reason I say there needs to be more action, is because from the entrance to H.R. Bloodengutz, to the entrance of the Foresaken, is a very big deadzone. It gets very dull going house to house. Because what you expect is a House, than a scarezone, house, scarezone, and so on. I mean even like a little area with like the Lady Luck minions like they did in the front of the park with the little photo op. Other than that, its been awesome! Heres my review. Begining with houses.

Winters Night: The Haunting Of Hawthorn Cemetery:

This house was supposed to be one of the most amazing houses this year, for me, I didnt get to experience alot of the effects, such as the Weeping Angel, because I would always get the crappiest place in line for that house. But nevertheless, it was a pretty scary house. Scares were good, but I got a crappy place in line every time, so its a 50-50 chance that house will be good for you.

The Thing: I think I would be able to appreciate this house ALOT more if had seen the new movie, but it didnt come out in time for me to be able to see it. But it was pretty good. It was mostly animatronics than scareactors, which was alright, cause the technology was insane. I do not want to give alot away, even thought theres only 2 nights left and most of you had probably been to HHN already, but I dont want to ruin it for the few who hadn't. It was a good house, but it was most definately not the best.

Nightingales: Blood Prey: The technology and scare tactics in this house were aboslutely INCREDIBLE. This I will give away cause I cant keep it to myself cause this was so cool, (SPOLIER!!!!!!!) There was a solider at a machine gun, and than all of a sudden, a Nightingale came out and ripped him in half and she came out at me and sprayed me with blood (water that was warm to simulate blood). The house was good cause you didn't know where the would come, and thats what makes a house so fantastic. This house DELIEVERED, though it also was not my favorite it was my 2nd favorite.

H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: Holidays Of Horror: This was this year's dark comedy house, which I always love. This house had lots of scares and defineatly alot of laughs. At the beginning you will meet H.R. Bloodengutz, and when you do, ask him to push the red button. The best scene was Presidents Day, because of the breif case with a black button that sets of a "bomb" that lights up the room and the curtains blow and a blast of air goes through the room. Unfortuneatly, the button is no longer there, it was supposed to be used by scareactors only. Which is interesting cause it was pretty obvious and it looked like a G.A.T. (Guest Activated Trigger). I pushed the button. . This house frightend me, and I will never ever look at holidays the same way again.

Saws'N'Steam: Into The Machine: This is the house I was actually SCARED of this year, because the Saws'n'Steam scarezone was interesting. So I figured, a house with steam power and saws, and masculine men out to kill you? Yeah, this oughta be interesting. This house was LOUD, which is what always scares me and drives me nuts. I LOVED this house though it was scary, the backstory was creepy, and it scared the living crap out of me. Effects were great, costume, makeup, and props were also incredible. Very well done. Especially the meat pounding scene.

Nevermore: The Madness Of Poe: This house to me was incredible, cause I am a giant EAP fan. The scenes followed the stories almost exactly (with the exception of the Pit And The Pendulum where the guy on the pendulum is chopped up when the man in the story survives). The house was crazy scary. It was really big for a sprung tent house. I never knew you could pack so much house into a sprung tent. This house is crazy scary and was one of the best houses this year, and I loved it.

The Inbetween: This house was my favorite this year. I didnt really notice the 3D effects that well, but the scares were insane. The costumes were outrageous!!! The scares were the best Ive ever seen. The room with the guy on the ceiling rolling in the net in that narrow hallway with the open areas where they'd rapidly scare you, was the best scene. The effects were aboslutely amazing and I dont think Ill ever experience a house like this ever again. It was nonstop screams from the time I got past the spinny tunnel thill the finale. This house was the best this year, AND overall.

The Forsaken: This house was amazing for the meer fact that the costumes were the best I have ever seen in my life, and the inclined walkway scene were I fell twice. This house had the feel that I was really in Spain in the middle of a war between Conquistadors and these damned creatures. You really feel immersed in this house, and you forget your in a haunted house and you feel like their really going to kill you. This house is really frightening and I loved everything about it.

Scarezones Starting With My 2 Gravediggers:

Grown Evil: This scarezone looked so cool when I looked at it from across the pond from the exit of H.R. Bloodengutz, So we headed over there and did it at least 5 times, and it was pretty much like walking through a pretty set, looking at people in animal costumes. They didnt look like they were making a huge effort to scare people. I even tried it with a different cast and got the same results. Not the greatest scarezone.
4/10

Canyon of Dark Souls: Just about the same thing, but at least a couple people on stilts came after us. But other than that, same thing as Grown Evil, walking through a pretty set looking at people in costumes. Kinda sucks, doesnt it?
5/10

Your Luck Has Run Out: This scarezone was fun for the meer fact that it was completely in sting alley and it was very condensed and narrow, so it was almost like a scarezone and a house combined, for it had some house elements in that zone. The only thing with this scarezone, and everyone can agree with me on this one, the Lady Luck masks, look like someone from Universal ran out to walmart and picked up some last minute masks for their kids or something. Yet, the Lady lucks still scared me, cause they came out of the corners from the thick fog. And the Lady Luck minions and The Inbetween demons, give me nightmares..

Acid Assault: I remember looking at the tweetup footage of the crumbling building effect, and just going to my knees in awe. It was about that times 20 when I finally got to see it in person. It was absolutely incredible. The scares were good too though, I liked how you were forced to go through that zone to get to The Thing.
9/10

Nightmaze: This scarezone was awesome! The wall changing effect really comes in handy when you wanna get a few extra scares from some skiddish people (at least from a scareactors point of veiw). Theres was 1 guy that would not stop chasing me and my uncle, he would change the walls so that we couldnt get out, and we were in there for a good 5 minutes trying to get out. It was a scary feeling, which works wonders.

7: This scarezone was the one I was looking forward to the least when I first read about it. I thought it was honestly gonna be some stupid kind of hoax that something Howl-O-Scream would make. Than I started to hear good things about it, and than I was kind of in a neutral state. Than I stepped into the zone, and it was scary. The first time there was really nobody there, but the second time, (at the end of the night since that was our route out of the park) it was nonstop scares in and out. Every minion corresponding to the 7 deadly sins, came after me, thats what makes a scarezone awesome, each kind of scareactor scaring you. Awesome zone, and Ive learned not to judge the zones till I try them.

Overall, I'd say this were was pretty sick!
