    Urban 1 Cards not Matching

This week I acquired 7 figures from urban 1, and I had noticed this before but didn't realize it was so prevalent until getting the figures in hand...can anyone explain why the cards for urban 1 do not match the figures for most of them? It really is pretty funny looking. I was not collecting when these came out and I have never heard it be discussed before.

It was discussed longtime ago but basically the reason why they don't match is because they were unable to transfers the full design from the artist card concept to the mold I think

Hopefully someone who knows more can shed some light on it

I hope so lol, I am pretty curious now. Most of them make sense, but there are a couple that are really off.

    Glow- fine
    Cheese- fine
    Oopsy- fine
    Monster- fine
    Checkered- fine
    Furr- fine
    Raton- fine
    Who's there- fine
Gold Chaser- they used a funny gradient instead of just a flat color
Pirate- they used the back of the figure instead of the front
Grafiti- artist card has added/different features (really a hideous design IMO just wanted to say..and they took "urban" too literally)
Pinball- doesn't match the figure at all

It almost looks to me like that decided to change the figures after they already printed the cards and just went with it.

I'm pretty sure the same goes with a few of the artist cards for the park series. Such as Balloon Chaser's artist card- instead of showing the silhouette of the castle on the foot, it shows a picture of the dlr castle in full color at the foot of the design, sort of like it was copied and pasted on. Fireworks also looks a bit more detailed than the actual figure. I think it's for the reasons phos brought out, that the art didn't always translate the same way on the figure as the artists had planned in the design process.

Personally I actually kind of like it as I think it shows a bit more character and gives us a glimpse of the artist process for some of these figures. It's part of the reason I was sad to see cards go- just made the figures seem more like a collectible

I still think they might have just wanted to make changes after seeing prototypes or something, but I'm not sure why they wouldn't change the cards too. The pirate one could have been deliberate, or perhaps the artist wanted to flip his design around. It is kind of funny to look at now because it was the beginning and they were still unsure about what they were doing. I do miss the artist cards also, it's a shame they're gone. It still just feels like something is missing when you open up a new vinyl and there is nothing else in there. The cards just brought something special to the collection.
Oh, and surprisingly my glow still glows a bit. My holiday 1 bat doesn't glow at all, so I was surprised the urban glow does.

In Graffiti's defense, I would take that design over most of the newer Urbans. I also love how it says Mickey on the back.

Man, that pinball card art looks sweet! Wish the figure matched.

Just coming back to the vm fold - didn't know they had done away with the cards. That makes me sad. I really liked those cards...
