Robert Patrick was okay once they moved Doggett past the "find Mulder" storyline (even though they kind of never did; MOTW Doggett worked, though), and the Doggett/Reyes partnership wasn't bad. Gillian Anderson did wind up in a grey zone, though. I think they didn't know what to do with Scully without Mulder.
