I have mentioned in a few previous post I'm a new guy to the site , but I think the 50 post 14 day policy is great as it hopefully encourages people to interact with everyone ( u do see some other new people posting one word replys) clearly upping there post counts . I have no idea how many I'm up too as I use taptalk and don't think it gives u a count but I know I mainly post in areas that don't count towards lol as I like interacting with other new collectors and I for one want to thank all that have been nice polite and helpful in my short time and look fwd to becoming more involved

I'm on my way to graduate to 50. I do a lot of browsing and post here and there, but it does allow me to enjoy this community. It makes me excited every time my post count goes. I can't wait to be able to enjoy the forum to its fullest.

Good info but its hard to wait when your so excited.... its like telling kids to go check out candy at candy store but you can't buy it...

I guess the one thing that I think of is that this rule sets it apart from ebay or craiglist- sure, you can go to a site that immediately lets you post your stuff, but what sort of results can you expect? Sometimes people will work with you and it ends up well, but you usually don't keep in touch with them. Sometimes people don't trust you, and sometimes you don't trust the people you come across.

I didn't start trading and selling until I was on this site for about 3 months and had 300 posts- mainly because I was nervous about working with people I didn't even know. And to this day, the people I most enjoy trading/selling with are the people I talk with outside of the trade/sell section. It helps you make friends along the way, and while it may not make you impervious to bad experiences, it definitely helps you to have more good ones than bad.

The staff team observes a lot in moderating the trade/sell section, and we all agree that the members who are patient in getting to know the community before trading and selling have far more enjoyable experiences than those who rush to it and decide to spend the majority of their time there.

Hopefully this helps a bit, and trust me, this site is a lot more enjoyable when your focus isn't trading and selling.

The trading/selling is icing on the cake :-) I am loving the community so far and have just started trading and buying. It's a very nice service and helps to further my love of vinyls, but its definitely not the reason I'm here. I actually didn't even know about the trading and selling forums until after I had hit 50 posts!

Also very helpful because I tend to be very trusting; I usually assume the best of people. I just realized I have entered into 4 transactions without gathering any background info!!! I recognized the users from forums, but still it gave me a little scare! It makes me a little sick to think that people would intentionally take advantage of people on here (or anywhere for that matte), everyone I've "met" has been so genuine and helpful. I will definitely check feedback and posting before finalizing any transactions now, thanks again Story!

It does take some time, especially if you just hit 50, or if you just passed the 14 day mark. I would give it some time, and if it doesn't show up in a day then contact the administrator. A lot of people experience a bit of a delay so it's completely normal

At first glance I thought 50 posts was just way to many to be honest, but now that I'm closing in on it I think I can say it did give me some time to hang out, meet some people and sort of get up to speed on the different threads and what not. I'm excited as I close in on the mini-landmark of being able to buy/sell/trade

I must say that I am glad you make people wait. I have really gotten to know some great people on this site already and I have learned so much. I definitely spend more time reading forums then visiting the trade/sell area. While I have made a few transactions since I hit my two weeks I did pay attention to who the people were and how active they were on the site. I am honestly looking to connect with people who share my love of Disney (especially Vinylmation) and I thoroughly enjoy this site. The wealth of information and the willingness to help one another is one of the most amazing things I have seen. Thank you!

Yes, it is a great rule. good to have some non-trade interaction and learn about the hobby. I am in Canada and actually surprised at the amount of Canadians on the website.

Do your posts have to be a certain length in order for them to count? I go to my profile and it says that I have well over 50 posts but the ticker in my box under my name says that I have half that. It's really not that big of a deal I would like to be able to trade eventually, just want to know what's going on.

I'm torn on the 50 posts rule. I can see the value in it, but I'm anxious to get started trading. Because I can't I find myself spending less time here and browsing other boards and ebay. It would be nice to be able to see what folks are offering, what they are asking etc. Maybe I'm just impatient or overly excited! ;)

No, VIP doesn't give you instant trading/selling access (though it does give a few extended privileges once you meet the requirement). It's free to trade and sell here, and the 50 post rule really does benefit members. I know it might seem like a long wait, but believe me, it's worth it. If you just enjoy talking with the other members, you may find you'll have 50 posts or more sooner than you realize

Something important to remember is that once you do reach 50 posts and earn the privilege of entering the trading forum, you cannot just stop posting everywhere else. The trading forum is for contributing members, not just any members who have reached 50 posts. If you're finding it hard to want to stick around here just because you can't trade, I think you're missing the point of this website. VinylNation.net is a community for Vinylmation fanatics to share their Vinylmation love with each other. The trading forum is just a bonus - it is not the purpose of this site. All fair points. I'm just interested in specific vinyls to get started and blind boxing some of them isn't an option.

The greatest part of this website is the fact that it is a community. You get out of this website what you put into it- information, friends, comrades in vinylmation collecting, great trades, great sales and best of all, unlike just blindly buying from an unknown seller, you get a chance to actually know who you're purchasing from or selling to. All of that is due to the community setting.

Like mshalloween said the buying, selling & trading is just a bonus part of this site. I think the true greatness of the forum comes from the people who contribute to the discussions and interact with other members

I finally got through all 5 pages and it was such great information, thank you! I found this site because I was looking at other places to be able to buy and maybe start to trade. I've been having a lot of fun, learning different things and i think I have annoyed my boyfriend by telling him everything I have read from the site. The one thing I will mention is that I feel that this group is very welcoming to new folks. I've been on sites before and it felt like I was an outsider trying to barge in.

This made me laugh because I did the same thing to my husband when I first started. Now he is into vinyls almost as much as me. He remembers the things I tell him and knows when he goes on ebay to look for vinyls what to watch for.

BTW - I love that you have your location as Racoon City! Best VG/Movie series ever!

So I am new to the site and was able to get my 50 posts within a week just by looking around and commenting on a lot of great post and talking with people. I know I still have another week until I can trade and it really isn't a big deal to me because I've learned a lot in the week that I have been on here. Thank you guys for setting this site up and running it very well

Hi mods - would it be possible to put this thread as a sticky thread so that it is always at the top of the list for people trying to get to know the rules etc on the site as well as the suggestions on how to trade/buy.

It never hurts to keep some reminders current - ie don't send paypal payments as a gift unless you know the person very well and trust them implicitly.
