Turns out that the lids were sliced to either get a peek or feel of what was inside. I was really disgusted...

This could have meant they did it in store or they bought them, took them home, performed their surgery and came back to return them. The biggest part that bugs me is that a CM took them back in this condition. Those boxes are pretty much ruined and is just offensive to see on the shelf.

Anyone else seen this kind of thing?
I have seen some boxes in stores that had clearly been damaged by someone trying to find a specific figure. I don't think a cast member would have accepted those back as a return. There are no returns allowed on vinylmations, even if the boxes are unopened.

That is so sad and yet so disturbing at the same time. Whoever did it should be ashamed of themselves and why oh why wouldn't the store take those off the shelf immediately?

yea, i hope they take these off the shelves or something. from what i heard, they usually just toss it into the trade box or something. not sure what their proper protocol is.

That's true and I had a HUGE arguement about that with some managers at one of my local stores. The lesson I learned from that is NEVER EVER buy any boxes that have already been opened but have since been taped up and sealed by the store

Often, blind boxes get a little roughed up by people who have no idea what they are and don't really get the concept; they think they might be able to see inside so they try. It sounds silly to us, because we're used to the idea, but a lot of people just don't get it. However, the way those boxes are cut really look like someone knew what they were doing. It's really unfortunate, and does take some of the fun away when people decide to resort to cheating.

In happier news, Solomon Pond Mall Disney Store is open again! It randomly closed for a couple of weeks for renovations, but it's back, and I was able to find a Yzma (V2) in the trade box!

I've seen that plenty of times in stores overhere too... I think because the stores here don't have any information on what vinylmation is (either a poster nor a display) people might be tempted to see what they are...but also it could just be someone feeling around to see if there is a neck piece in there to get the chaser

Congrats BrittLee! I would hate if my local stores closed for renovations. How do you go that long without a store?!

When I was at DTD and as at D-street I seen a buncha boxes with the tops ripped open, pretty sad that people have to go that route and ruin the boxes for people. And it must be people new to it, thinking there is no Foil.

I see a lot of boxes in that condition here as well. There are three different stores by me and all of them have some degree of tampering. Some stores are worse than others. What kills me is that the boxes are usually right by the cashier and the CM's don't say anything to the culprits.

I'd like to believe that and maybe that is the case. Just naive people who don't know what vinylmation blind boxes are. Unfortunately, there are some people out there who fish boxes with their fingers to try and locate the chaser. In this case, the Urban 9 Mickey, which has an obvious attachment, can be easily located this way. (Never tried myself but it's pretty obvious).

When I buy blind boxes, I make sure now to inspect the boxes individually. I look for dents, openings, or anything that I may believe the box was tampered with.

That is so unfortunate to me and really takes the fun out of the "chase." I hope CM's start to catch these guys/gals and put a stop to it because it really isn't fair to everyone else. And I'm surprised that stores would even accept returns on opened boxes that they would then need to tape up seriously?!

Northpark had Rocky, Gears, and Tatoo Businessman. I felt like doing a good deed, and left my Audio-Sonic Bot and took Rocky. But she's going right back in today if anything's changed up.

I'm going to be at Northpark tomorrow to see The Advengers... hopefully I can stop by DS and trade. Hopefully something good'll be there.

2 1/2 weeks. It was worse because it closed seriously randomly; there was no announcement that it was going down and I just went one day and there was a tarp up over the store. I called the mall, though, and they said they were just doing renovations. I was so happy I nearly kissed the floor.

Sill had the gears and tattoo face businessman and some CLY (pinkish), so I passed.

I was surprised to see that they had 25th anniversary (not light up one) ones and the Brave set, about 20 of each. Almost got a Brave one, but passed for now. Saving money for May 28 and the light up ones.

Picked up the sno-cone stand CATB at the KoP mall. Was going to trade for the other CATB in the box, but it is severely marked up (to the point where magic eraser will probably just take the paint off). I commented on it to the worker, but she said she was keeping it in there

St. Augustine outlet had yellow 40th WDW, Celebrations Confetti and U3 Little Dragon. I would've traded from their 24 mystery box but a nagging feeling was telling me that, after that rash of P6/U5 cases being sold at alarming rates (in which wiped out the outlet's blind boxes completely and probably for a while), the only things in that box will be the clearance open box vinyls.

Clear purple is a great find!

Northpark has their mystery trade box out. We put in the purple monster from Park 8, Audio-Sonic Bot, and urban Snakes. We got Cutesters 2 kid, CLY Hippie, and a Gorilla. We traded a couple in the store for the Sheep from the latest urban series, and put the cutesters 2 kid in the clear trade box for the power button.

I really must have overlooked the trade box. Is it near the clear box? That store is a little crowded for me, but fun to see a different DS. Jealous of the sheep and power up button. The only two I like of that series. Can we fast forward to next Monday? This boy needs some new vinyls.
