    Favorite Hollywood Studios Dining!

    So, like the other 3 WDW parks, I'm setting up a poll to help myself, and hopefully others who have little experience (or it's been a while since their last trip) with the restaurants at Disney! I'm trying to figure out everyone's favorite Table service, Quick service, and Snack option so I can plan accordingly with my reservations and dining plan! Thanks so much and hopefully this comes in handy with a poll instead of having to go through and read lots of long forum thread!

    I love Prime Time. Their onion rings, chicken soup and fried chicken are amazing. We used to love Hollywood and Vine and only ate there because of the fantasmic package but its lost its touch over the years. Idk, not a fan of it anymore but we eat at prime time at least 2 dinners and 1 lunch

    No question: Sci-Fi Dine-In. I mean.. what else is there?

    Seriously though - their food isn't ALL that spectacular, but I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the atmosphere. Oh, and they have AWESOME milkshakes

    A toss up between Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time. The food isn't all that great either place (Prime Time a little better than Sci-Fi but you can't beat the atmosphere. Besides, shouldn't that be part of the Disney dining experience too?

    Blasphemous. The only table-service restaurant that serves good food in Studios is also the only one that's never been a disappointment - The Brown Derby. Get the Cobb Salad (it's ginormous!) and the legendary grapefruit cake. The atmosphere is quiet and the lighting is dim but friendly; it's the perfect respite from the sun and humidity.

    Sci Fi is okay, but you're basically paying top dollar to sit in a car-shaped table and eat burgers. And if there are more than two in your party, one set will eat whilst staring at the backs of the other set's heads.

    50's Prime Time is well regarded, but the portions are unimpressive. And maybe it's just me, but I'm not crazy about the schtick. It's fun that your server is pushy and over-familiar for about the first five minutes, and then it becomes cloying.

    Hollywood and Vine has indeed changed from it's heyday, but it's still okay if you're looking for a buffet. I've not eaten at Mama Melrose's, but I have cancelled reservations there no less than three times.

    To be honest, I rarely eat in any of the table service restaurants in Studios, as the quick serve places are all fantastic. The Backlot Express serves the best sandwich on property (not counting the Earl) - turkey, swiss, roasted red peppers, and arugula on whole grain bread, grilled and pressed. I have had dreams about that sandwich. As of late last year, it's also available at the Studio Catering Company.

    Oh, and the Studio Catering Company has an adjacent full bar that offers beer on tap, mixed drinks, limited call service, and sangria. The sangria is the same you can get bottled, but it can certainly help to make your day more magical.

    As for Starring Rolls Bakery, I'll share one thing and one thing only:

    The one on the right? Chocolate cupcake, vanilla icing, rolled in Butterfingers.

    Heaven; I'm in heaven....

    Personally, I don't like the food in DHS all that much. ABC commissary is usually where I'd eat for quick service, but they changed it and it's not as good (aka food I don't eat).

    I Sci-fi Diner mostly for the atmosphere and my food fits right in (I normally get chicken tenders. Don't judge )

    Mama Melrose is okay. But when we went we had great service. I know I've told this story before, but oh well, not everyone has heard it My dad had a restricted diet so he wanted wheat pasta and the only kind they had was for the kids meal (go figure) so instead of saying "oh that's all we have it in" the chef came out and asked what he'd like made with the pasta and they made it.

    Hollywood and Vine: Don't go during lunch. That's all I have to say. Just don't Unless you have little little kids of course

    Mmmm, I the Cobb Salad at Brown Derby. It was one of my favorite meals at WDW.

    The cupcake pics are making me hungry! But if I go to WDW anytime soon, I definitely want to try this

    My votes, although I messed up voting:

    snack: Writers stop for cookies;
    counter: don't really eat counter here for some reason but the sandwich mentioned above sounds good;
    table: Sci-fi for atmosphere (get the Reuben or chicken fingers and a shake/dessert..share if you can, it really is about the atmosphere); Brown Derby for the before mentioned Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake (which I've suggested before here, so I'm not being a copy cat ;)). We've had a good meal at Mama Melrose also.

    Ohhh, yeah, them too.

    Maybe we just got a bad day for the napkin thing. It seemed to be constant. The music would stop, you'd go back to eating, meeting characters, and then fifteen minutes later the music would start all over again.

    Hands down my vote is for Mama Melrose they have the best 5 cheese pesto pizza along with the other numerous dishes I've eaten there. Sci Fi is fun and love the feel of eating out doors but not big fan of the menu.

    I have never been all that impressed with the dining options in the studios. I love the Sci Fi Dine In because of the atmosphere. I think the food is OK, but it is sure a lot of fun to eat there.

    sci-fi is fun, but the food is not very good. The best food in the park is the Hollywood Brown Derby, followed closely behind Mama Melsose.

    I haven't had the pleasure of dining at Brown Derby yet, but I did eat at Sci-Fi yesterday for the first time and it was fantastic! I had the butcher steak and paired with the unique setting it made for a great dinner.

    On an opposite note, I tried the pretzel hot dog from Bill & Min's and it was HORRIBLE!

    1.) It was cold

    2.) The hot dog was crunchy

    3.) The hot dog was practically white

    DISGUSTING.

    I just wanted to chime in since our last trip, and we had a fantastic time at Sci-Fi Dine In (of course) and at the Hollywood Brown Derby! This is our first time at the Brown Derby, and it was amazing. We rushed inside when it started pouring, and everyone was leaving the park, so my boyfriend and I ended up having a romantic dinner in an uncrowded space! I got the steak, which was AMAZING, and he got the fish in a lobster sauce which was excellent. I got the grapefruit cake for desert, and I was disappointed. It was SO tart that it almost tasted like vomit, but he got a chocolate trio or something like that and it was divine! I would definitely go back there again, the atmosphere was wonderful!
