    Castaway Cay and DCL

I saw in pictures from D23 and also on this site that there will be a Castaway Cay 9in/3in set and a DCL Wonder and Magic Vinylmation. I did not see a release date for these, although I may have missed it. Does anyone know when they will be released? Also will they be released in the parks or on Disney Cruise Line?

    Thanks!

They are exclusive to Disney Cruise Lines, so you can only get them onboard the ships. Just note there is a Disney Magic exclusive and a Disney Wonder exclusive, as well as the Castaway Cay 9"/3" set. To get them both you either have to sail on both ships or know someone who will be sailing on them. Good luck!!

I am assuming that Castaway Cay will be sold on the ships, or will it only be sold on the island? Also is there a set limited number for each?

    Thanks!

I'm thinking it's gonna be an island exclusive. Especially since they have regular merchandise that you can only get on the island.

most likely since the 9"s are always limited.

It's hard to say if the Castaway Cay set will be island only or also sold on the ships. In the past they have offered a small selection of Castaway Cay merchandise on the ships and since vinylmation is sold on the ships, I don't see why they would miss the chance to sell them onboard where as they might be overlooked on the island.

As to the edition sizes, yes they are limited, but the numbers have not been revealed yet. The last DCL exclusive was an LE of 300. So maybe around that number again??

I would think since each ship has it's own exclusive that the Castaway would be on the island not the ship, since then that might seems like a bit much. But that's just my idea

Who knows, we'll have to wait and see. lets hope theyre out in early November so I can report back after my cruise on nov.12th

lets hope it's at least 300 and not something like 150 (since the last one was split between both ships)

I think I remember hearing at the pin event that the Castaway Cay one would only be available on the island.

It probably is. I know most of the merchandise sold on the Island is only ever sold on the Island and since it's a Castaway Cay Exclusive...it kinda makes sense.

Yea, the cruise ones are hard especially since they're smaller releases plus you actually have to be ON the ship to get them at the right time of year.

And since most people dont go on DCL that often, I can imagine how hard it is. I just happened to get really lucky for the first one.

Yep and even if you know people who are cruising around that time they will be released you need the exact cruise(s) they are released on.

I still am trying to get the 1st one.

For these if I can get the Magic and CC set I will be happy.

Not necessarily. I know the first one was released in Nov-ish and I didnt cruise until March, but I think they were definitely starting to run out of them. I had a hard time getting one with a box that wasnt all beat up.

Then again, this all depends on the release size

such stress! lol but it is an awesome vinyl so it's worth it.

Even though these will be exclusive, I really only have interest in the things I have seen or been a part of at Disney - Happy Hunting!!

    I can respect that however...

Personally, I think these are just as much part of the Disney as anything else - Just in a different way. DCL, is definitely a new way to experience the Disney "Magic" (no pun intended), one that is truly worthwhile and is still one of my favorite life experiences!

I think whether its Disney Hong Kong, Paris, DLR, the future Hawaiian resort or etc... it's still part of the fun and I'm glad that Disney has been able to expand the idea of Disney outside of the normal themepark...

Exclusive or not, they're great VM's and represent more than just being a vinyl, I think the memory that comes with them is just as important and special.

I really like this particular design, the Castaway Cay but like a lot of others I probably won't have much of a chance of actually picking one up. Hopefully I'll be able to trade for one on here.

Cruise knowledge is not useless, LOL. I have spent more time on DCL the past few years then in a park.

    nice!

I only say it's useless because of the way I acquired it. Majority of what I know, I learned from my friend who likes to ramble on about DCL, and somehow I retain most of it Which is saying alot, because most of the time I'm in my own little world and dont listen most of the time (terrible I know, but it's true)

I would love to own the DCL vinyls but as fast as these are being released the idea of trying to buy everything is nuts for me. I already need another job to support the vinyl habit. Ebay is usually not an option for me but never say never..

that's one way to put it. 'the vinyl habit' when we all need to join a 12step vinyl program, that's what we'll call it.
