Star Wars Series 1 and Star Wars Weekends 2011

    Hey all-

We're planning on making it "home" to see our "family" in Florida during Star Wars weekends and have held off so far in trading for or buying a set of Star Wars Series 1 because I'd prefer to buy them blind boxed in person at WDW when we're scheduled to be there in June.

What's the consensus? Will there still be Series 1 around and plentiful then, or do you think they'll be gone? Will there be a Series 2 by then (meaning I should buy or trade for a set now)?

Any and ALL opinions are appreciated!

We've actually discussed this a little bit in the Star Wars Series General Discussion Thread, most recently here.

I'm assuming they will still be available in May/June. Especially when so many people are coming to see Star Tours 2 for the first time, I would expect Disney to want to make as many Star Wars collectibles available as possible. I'm actually hoping for the same thing, because I have not purchased any yet and I'm a HUGE star wars fan who will be there in June.

Yeah, check the link that Phylers posted to read more about the previous discussion regarding this topic, but rest assured that the consensus is that Disney will make absolutely certain that the Star Wars #1 series will be available at least through Star Wars Weekends. My guess is they'll sell out of them periodically during that time, but more shipments will steadily come in through the middle of June, in order to sell as many of them as possible to the out-of-towners coming down for that event.

My guess is that Star Wars will be like Muppets, Cutesters, etc. and have an annual release. I would expect that each series will be available for one year of SWW.

I think you are in luck with perfect timing. I read the following on **********************.com: There have been rumors floating around that they might be waiting to re-release the Star Wars series. Those rumors seem to be true as a cast member at D-Street said they were waiting for Star Wars Weekends. So be sure to look for them on May 20th, or there abouts. As always we will be keeping up with this story.

I'm glad to hear they might be back for SWW. My wife and I are going to visit WDW and hopefully I can find them. Does anyone know if they are exclusive to the parks or not? I spoke to several people working at a Disney store in Memphis, Tennessee today and they were not sure if they would have the SW vinylmations. So far they have not gotten any. They did have have a laugh, Urban series 6, and Toy Story ones.

Yes, the Star Wars Series is exclusive to the Parks. Due to Disney's licensing agreement with Lucas, they will not be offered in Disney Stores. They also will not be available from the Disney Parks online store, but you can order whole trays from Disney's Merchandise phone line.

But if you're here for SWW, you should be good. Maybe you'll run into some fellow forum members, too!

Since Phylers linked you to the correct area to discuss this, I'm going to close this thread.
