How to have a great VinylNation experience, have fun and make new friends.

I have a great time on the boards and I've made some really nice friends. I want everyone's experience to be the same, so here are my helpful tips:

1. Post, post and then post!- The more people see your posts the more familiar they will feel with you and the friendlier they become (assuming your posts are nice ). If you are new here post a little intro of yourself so people can get to know you. Welcome newbies when they post their intros.

Remember to make your posts meaninful, we won't learn anything new about you if you just say "I can't wait to get the new vinyls". We want more!!

2. Share your collection in the Collector's Showcase. - We all love to see what everyone has in their collection and how it is displayed. Take the time to leave a comment for others letting them know what you like.

3. Help others. - Answer questions whenever you can even if it's just to give them a link to the info they need. If you come across a helpful thread bookmark it so you can refer people to it in the future. Point them in the right direction if they are searching for a particular thread.

4. Be positive whenever possible.- We all have gripes, complaints, vents, etc. and one of the great things about VinylNation has always been the freedom to express ourselves, but before hitting the submit button it's always a good idea to re-read what we've written and evaluate whether or not the negative is really necessary. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Sometimes it is, but can be toned down or tempered. You don't have to agree with another member's opinion, but we ask that you respect that person enough to realize that it is THEIR opinion, which may differ greatly from your own.

VN is such an awesome community - truly my happy place. The creativity and caring and generosity of the people here just blows me away! No one is required to do any of the things I've listed above. They are just suggestions to try if you want to.

How about you - do you have any suggestions to add to the list? Please post any ideas you have about how to make friends and feel really "in" around here. Or tell us a little story about a friendship you've cultivated here and how it started!

I meant to say this earlier, but thank you so much for taking the time to create this thread and the other ones added to the welcome section, Qsk50! Each one is such an asset for any newcomer looking to enjoy Vinylnation and share the fun of collecting with other members here.


I agree with everything you posted above. I remember first starting out here, I was kind of nervous to post. But I guess I kind of got the hang of it (and now I don't know how to stop not that I would want to ) These tips will really help newcomers to enjoy posting and really enjyoy themselves here


I think the one thing I appreciated was how kind and informative all the members were when I was starting out. And it was fun to be able to share my opinion, and hear from members who agreed, and those who didn't- in fact I even appreciated that sometimes when those who didn't agree shared what they had to say, I saw some points that I didn't even think about!

I guess what I'm trying to say is please feel free to post your opinion and build on what others say- it helps build conversation, and will not only help others get to know you better but also might help them see a different point of view they didn't think about

Expanding on #1 (post, post, and POST!) - please make sure to put some thought into your posts. Too many people come to the boards and write two- or three-word "sentences" that really have nothing to do with the discussion that's going on, just so they can up their post count quickly. The mods are awesome at catching this and deleting the irrelevent posts, but if you're on the boards posting and see this, it can be extremely frustrating!

It doesn't take long to reach 50 posts. Patience, understanding, and reading through threads are a great way to get familiar with how to contribute to a discussion!

I'm super ecstatic to be a part of this site. As I live in Sacramento, I am not really close to a park so it is great to have tons of people near the parks that can update those of us in the middle of nowhere what's going on with Vinylmation. I was really unaware of how popular this had gotten since I bought 2 Urban 1 vinyls in 2009 and then kinda forgot about them as they sat on a shelf. I am back now and ready to keep on collecting. Hope to meet some fun people here. And I can't wait because me and my hubby are going to DLR in July!! YAY!!!

This site has been a lot of fun so far. I enjoy the community as well as all the great opinions everybody has.
I've already made a few purchases from other members and it is so much better than ebay or anywhere else as most members understand that we are all collectors and don't spike prices.

Hello, my name is Tasha. I was introduced to Vinylmations through my Aunt and can't stop buying these cute little guys! I don't have that many, but am excited to expand my collection. I am grateful for this forum and the people who set it up. I live in Southern Utah so I am not near any Disney Park. I want to make a lot of friends through Vinylmation and help people out with their collections too!

I think something else that can be added is to go to all and any meets/releases/events as possible. Most of us (excluding myself) go to such things and it's a great way to get the face to the name. I've had the pleasure of meeting 2 members here (one by accident, haha) and it's great.
