Is anyone NOT trying for 100% complete series sets??

I'm mulling over how much I will be able to invest in this new hobby of mine. I think all of the Mickeys are super cool, but I am definitely drawn to some designs/series more than others. At this point I'm just going to start collecting/ seeking the ones I really like. They are all across the board. About 5 from each series. The way I like to display things, I like to tell a story. I like certain color/design groupings as opposed to massive amounts and complete sets.

I know these will all go up in value, so having more (or complete sets) will be more worth my while, but alas, It will be a slow process.....(sigh)

    Anyone else??

I've got no intention of trying to get any complete sets (with the possible exception of the Muppet set, because... c'mon... MUPPETS!). Money is the main factor here. I'm just going to pick and choose.

Yeah, I'll probably get all the Muppets and the Cutesters....but I doubt I'll go back and get all the Parks , Urbans, and Holiday (except for a handful of each)

I'm contemplating whether or not to get all of the pins or not. (I'm more of a pin trader) As for the figures I will just pick and choose.

I don't WANT complete sets of many of the series. Things like Monkey, Aquaramouse, and the Gear Bears just don't appeal to me. Money is tight enough that I can't afford to buy things I don't like just to say I have a "complete set".

I have no desire/intention of getting every single figure. The thing that annoys me most is how they're blind-boxed. While I like a lot of the figurines there are some I like a lot more than others and would rather be able to choose which ones I buy. Maybe that kind of defeats the whole purpose of vinylmation but oh well. I just bought Little Green Men and the FOTLK figures on ebay. I'd rather pay a couple extra bucks for ones I want than waste money on ones I don't like.

I don't see myself buying more than 2-3 blind boxes in a given series unless I really really like them all.

yeah at first i had my mind set of collecting all of the sets, but then i realized how many different series and numbers of a certain series were comin out so i decided i was only going to collect the park series vinyls. and i would collect the 9" figures that i really liked and the exclusives of course. money is an issue right now )=

I bought a case of Park 1 and Urban 1. Now Holiday 1. But I skipped Park 2 because I wasn't that excited about the designs (I think they rushed that series). I didn't buy all the 9" and didn't think I would buy very many but then when I saw them at d23, it was an impulse buy.

    I skipped clear.

Now I think I'll try to just get what I love, and the exclusives (CMs, etc.). They're just putting these out too fast now.

The pins seem more manageable to me, and they're smaller, so I will try to get all of them, even though I'm not really a pin collector.

Have you considered taking them out of the box <gasp>
If you have no plans on selling these and collect them for your
enjoyment, I say take them out of the box =)

I was going to be a completist on the 3" ones, but Clear, Cutesters, and some of the Urban designs starting with Urban 2 put a stop to that. I'll probably try and be a completist on Park, Holiday, Muppets, Star Wars, and Pixar. Pick and choose on the rest.

When Vinylmations first came out I really didn't care that much for them. Sure there were a few good designs in that first set, but at the time they really didn't interest me. Then the castmember exclusive came out and I bought apparently on the day it was released. I just happened to be in the Company D store and saw it. It was cute so I bought one and decided that I'd at least collect the cast exclusives.

Several months went by and new series came out, Urban 1, 2, Park 2, Clear and I started to get interested. I bought a few of the Park 2 and got hooked. I then joined this board and really got hooked. When I saw all the new series coming out, I realized I am going to have to limit my collecting. There are just too many coming too fast and with the holidays.

After looking at the designs, I chose to stick mainly with the park series, I'll try to finish the park 2 series, but at this point it's late in the game and I only need 4 so I might be able to do it. The holiday set came out and I bought a tray. I will probably use the rest of the case as gifts or for trading. I like some of the urban designs, but really enough to want to tray and get a whole set. If I buy some urbans and get the ones I like then I will be happy with that.

For future releases I will concentrate on the the park series, special editions, cast exclusives, and then any other sets might be interested in, which right now looks like Muppets, and possibly the Pixar, and Star Wars sets if they are released.

The Clear, Cutesters, and Pool Ball series mean nothing to me so I doubt I will get them. Also at tis point I think I might stick with just the 3" versions. If there is a 9" that comes ut that I truley like and must have, then I will get it.

At first i was set to collect them all, but with a new series coming out every month, it's becoming to costly. I skipped the clear series only getting one, and am skipping collecting the entire holiday collection. So far the only complete series i have are Park #1 and Park #2.I have half or Urban #1 and all of Urban #2 except the chaser. I think from now on i will only stick to collecting the entire Park series just because they are all based 100% on Disney and i have to say so far the Park series just look better and better. I also like collecting the Exclusive one's such as cast member, D23,candy corn etc.

Off the bat I know for sure that I wont be collecting all of the vinyls mainly because I dont have any 9¨ figures aside from the NOAH figure. Also I know I'll be skipping certain series' such as Cutesters which will help with saving up for a more desireable series.

So far I have a complete set of Park 2, Urban 2, and Clear 1. Working on Holiday and will eventually (when funds permit) collect Park 1 and possibly Urban 1. I guess if worst came to worst I would strictly limit my buying to only the Park series and Specials.

Boy I fell fast and hard for these Mickey's to. Park series is for sure my favorite. Only have 8 of the 9" but I suppose that won't last long, have to have the DCL coming out and pin trading one. I hope the DCL ones are there when we go in Dec. otherwise it's ebay I quess. Also not real crazy for the urbans either but I do have a couple 3" from 1st series. I think I will just stick to parks and some 9". I to am running out of room with all my other collections which are mainly Disney. More shelves and cabinets coming soon!

We collected Park Series 1 and Urban Series 1 (with chasers) - then realizedwe do not have the space or the money to keep with all the series being released. So now we buy the ones we like - both 3 inch and 9 inch. They really are a cool collectible - but there are several that I can pass on in all the series.

I swear I wasn't going to... but lately I seem to like the entire sets, and once you buy them all individually on ebay - it ends up being more than you wanted to pay for them! I've done full sets on Urban 1 (minus the chaser), Urban 2 and Park 2. I'm missing 4 from Park 1.

I don't plan to get all of Park 3 but I do want Cutesters and Holiday. I like having the first sets of these, just in case they have more down the road!

I am not a completeist at all. I get most of the Park series and probably all of the Muppets, but other than that I pick and choose the ones I want.

I wanted to collect them all but due to the fact that any Series 1 other than Holiday are pretty expensive I have focused all my attention on the park Series and Holiday 1, Urbans are nice but the Park Series is why i fell in love with them in the first place.

I fell instanlty for these the moment I recieved an email from disney talking about them! I was so excited since I just happen to be coming down from NorCal a couple days later I figured i'd make a stop and picka few up. Tomy dismay they were already sold out. So I missed out on Park #1 and didn't even know about Urban #1 at all.

As for my collections, I didn't intend on completing sets but when you're 3 or 4 away, you might as well... so that's what I did with Park #2 and Urban #2. I decided to pick up a case of the Holidays while at D23. I have a couple clears but those just didn't interest me with the exception of the pure clear but unfortunately is the chaser... bleh.

With the upcoming series', I'm on the fence for the muppets but Park #3 is a must along with the DCL 9" and the 10 Year Anniversary of Pin Trading 9".

This is definitely an expensive hobby/addiction and I wish everyone the best!
