    2011 Marathon vinyls

Pictures from TC event on VN.net

Look around and only saw a dedicated thread for last year's vinyls, so with less than a month away from the event thought I would start the discussion on them.

My opinion is these are much better designs than last year, what do you think?

My boyfriend liked last years for some reason, but I didn't really like how they turned out. We both saw the 2011's and we both really like them a lot more. I hope to get these for his collection!

    Credit belongs to Dozy- Thanks!

I know I'm getting the Goofy for my mom. I'm going to be putting her times on it since she's running the event!

Hopefully I'll be getting a Donald for myself!

I agree. I love that they actually have faces to them. Much nicer than last years.

I think they look great. I'm guessing they'll be more popular than last year's.

I wish they did these for some of their other races! Guess I'll just have to run the 2012 to get a vinyl (I know I don't have to run the race to get a vinyl but I don't really want a race vinyl from a race I didn't run--just a personal thing!)

Your Mom is my new hero.

I told a buddy about the Goofy Challenge, and we both laughed uproariously at the thought of ever entering (naturally, we both then started wondering, "hmm, well, maybe by 2013...." ).

Does the Donald mean you'll be tackling the half?

Right? I'd have totally bought a Wine and Dine vinyl. And I'm right with you on not wanting one from a race I didn't run. It's just like medals and race shirts; you have to earn them!

They do look much better than last years set. Personally, one of the other reasons why they didn't sell well was because they got to the event late. Many runners know that the merch sells out quickly, so lots of people check in as early as possible to get the good stuff. The vinyls didn't get there until the expo was almost over on Thursday, thus missing a huge portion of the crowd. I had to go back Friday just to get them.

She's my hero too And a friend of ours has done the Goofy since it was just a joke between the people crazy enough to sigh up for both races

And yep, I'm doing the Donald. After my back gave out during the Wine and Dine, I have to try again! Are you?

Though I agree about not wanting stuff that I didn't earn. They still gave everyone the Wine and Dine medal, even if you didn't finish. It's buried in my closest instead of with my other medals because I don't feel like I earned it.

If there a general race thread on here yet? I want to know if anybody is doing the ESPN 5k and the Everest too!

I really want to do the Wine & Dine again next year. I absolutely loved that race!

I was thinking about the ESPN 5K but it almost seems silly for me to get up early and drive over to Orlando for only a 5K. There's a half marathon in Tampa the same weekend that I've ran before--I think I might do that one instead. Granted, I need to get back into training before I can even consider signing up for it!

I don't know about a general race thread, but we sure could start one in the chit chat area!!

Good luck with the Donald Half!

I really did think about signing up for the Donald Half, but I guess I wasn't ready to commit to keep training right after the Wine and Dine. I'll almost certainly be out for the ESPN 5k, though. I love the whole ESPN the Weekend event, and the accompanying 5k might be the most economical of all the Disney races.

Have you done the Everest adventure race before? I was intrigued last year, but I missed the registration. Sounds like it could be fun.

I'm right there with you - it's not even a question in my mind; I'm doing the Wine and Dine again next year! I think it'll feel just as special being a returning runner. Now if on;y they'd give us some sort of "inaugural participants" discount!

Similarly, I also hit that "more training" wall. With no goal, I find it harder to get up for any kind of tempo work. Guess I'm one of those "race to train" people.

I've heard good things about some of the races out in Tampa.

I'm guessing they'll be released at the Expo, and any that remain after race weekend will end up in D-Street. I expect Disney will be more on-the-ball this time around, so fewer of them will likely be left over compared to last year. Ergo, unless you're running that weekend or heading to the Expo, I'd check the Out-of-Towners Thread.

They did a great job with these, they are just BEAUTIFUL. Such a great improvement over last year's. The boxes are awesome, too. I like the facts on the back of the head on the 9".

So cool. I might get one of the 3".
