Aw, I love the Great Movie Ride just the way it is. I think I'd be really sad if they changed anything, except I guess they could always add clips from newer films in the montage at the end without really affecting the ride too much.

I would love to see them update it with some other classic movies! I think a scene from some modern classics would be good, like Titanic maybe? I think the scene with Jack and Rose standing at the front of the ship would be great with the animatronics!

I think that this should be updated. There are several movies in there that people just don't relate with anymore. I think that Footlight Parade, Alien, and Tarzan should be changed out. I am kind of blanking on movies to add in right now. I would have to put some thought into that. It would be great if they could add North by Northwest. It would be awesome to see Cary Grant hanging from Mt. Rushmore while he is fighting with Martin Landau. How about Slim Pickens riding the bomb down from Dr. Strangelove?

I think it would be nice if you could get stopped in the western section a little more often. My kids know what cowboys are. They have no idea what a 1930's gangster is.
Like a grand and miraculous spaceship, our planet has sailed through the universe of time.

Footlight Parade DEFINITELY. Alien? Yes or no. I'm good with either. But if they did replace it, I would want to see another sci-fi flick in its place. I personally wouldn't change out Tarzan...there are still a lot of people that know the name.

I don't understand the dislike of "Footlight Parade." It comes from an extremely important era in filmmaking. If there's going to be a ride that centers on the history of film, how can one leave out the old spectacle pieces by Berekely? I mean, they're kind of iconic in American cinema. "Alien" can stay as long as they restore the effects.

I wish it were possible to restore Footlight Parade to how it was when the ride first opened. I agree that it is very important, and it could be really amazing looking if they could get everything to work properly. A lot of the ride scenes could benefit from some updated animatronics. Some of them have started to look like they were borrowed from wax museums and they just happen to occasionally move.

It might be good to research what movies they have the rights too. It's called the great movie ride, what great movies are not included that Disney CAN put on the ride? There's my 2cents

i agree, and actually going on GMR inspired me to go see footlight parade to better understand this. i love GMR as it is I just wish they would at the very least upkeep the cars, too many times i can barely understand what the CM is saying on their speaker. also some of the CMs are questionable at times, one time my female gangster sounded like she was a phone sex operator at nights, as she asked us to pass up our jewelry etc. others talk way too fast and if i dindt know the script i wouldn't understand them. i think these basic things need to be updated before the animatronics. as great as it would be to see updated animatronics, as seeing from pirates how good they COULD be, i'd rather see the other stuff updated first about the ride.

The one thing I don't like is that I NEVER get the Cowboy scene. That is still in existence right? Off-topic I know. A small update is warranted I think.

Yeah, it's still in existence - and it's honestly even worse than the gangster one

Can't imagine it'd be better! Honestly though, can they at least put a few more trailers up in the queue area? I can only watch the Mary Poppins trailer so many times...

Yes. And I'd add the following movies:

Have Lion King or King Kong replace Tarzan.

Have Toy Story in there, somewhere.

Replace horror section with Frankenstein/Rocky Horror Picture Show

Replace Alien with... STAR WARS! So obvious, it would fit perfect with the opening scene of Episode 4.

Replace musicals with Chicago, Sound of Music. Keep Singin' in the Rain.

    That's my dream list.

And when the cowboy/gangster commandeers the vehicle they should speak a little more about the movies rather than leave pockets of silence which I've experienced on multiple occasions. I mean, if they are going for cheesy they should ham it up and be as campy with the tour guides as possible, think jungle cruise.

...which offers you this chilling challenge...to find...a way OUT!!!

I definitely think the Wizard of Oz segment should stay but only leave one of the segments (either Munchkin land or the "Off to Meet the Wizard"), get rid of Tarzan, Casablanca, Footlight Parade, Singin' in the Rain, and that "gangster movie" whatever it's called. I think there should be movies that all generations have seen in the ride. Alien is DEFINITELY a boring movie and I agree with Sledge throw in Star Wars instead (why they didn't do this in the first place is beyond me). Leave Mary Poppins because that is a classic and of course Indiana Jones. I'm leaning towards adding movies that are quite well known by all generations young and old. Personally I would LOVE to see the following movies in the ride but I know most of these won't happen because they are already used over at Universal:

    1) Jurassic Park
    2) Titanic
    3) Star Wars
    4) Spider-Man
    5) The Lord of the Rings
    6) E.T.
    7) Jaws
    8) a classic James Bond movie (Goldfinger maybe?)
    9) Sister Act
    10) Independance Day

And again yes I realize some of these movies are owned by Universal but I can dream can't I?

This could defiantly use an update, if nothing else at least in the trailers area. There have been so many great movies recently it would just take the money and time to do it, plenty of ideas out there.

I think the whole thing needs to be gutted and redone. It's just so old, outdated and corny.

Actually went on it for the fiesta time in July. Definitely needs an update. It's a classic ride, so maybe not a total gutting/redo; but at least update some of the animatronics and maybe add some movies

The only update there should be is occasionally updating the video at the end to add new movies. I enjoy the rest and dont see much need for change.
