    D23 Fall Events Announced

    Hello Folks!
This thread is mainly informative to D23 members since these events are limited to them only, but everyone is invited to participate in the discussion

    So here goes:
October 7: Lion King on Stage (Alaska)
    October 7: Mary Poppins (Dallas)
    November 17: Studio Tour
November 18: Mary Poppins (Los Angeles)
    November 20: Lion King (Washington)
November 25: Princess and the Frog screening (Studios)

    Coming soon events:
October 18: Sip & Stroll event at Epcot
December 10: Disney and Dickens event at El Capitan
    December 12 & 13: Magic & Merriment @ Walt Disney World

    For full detail, visit: http://d23.disney.go.com/expo.html
    ----------------------------
    Now for my discussion part.
I plan on attending the Princess & the Frog screening, but need clarification on ticket pricing. I called in for my tickets and they gave me a different set of info than what d23 listed. They don't mention anything about pricing on their site (yet) and when taking my tickets, they're asking $50 per ticket.

The mary poppins event is also a tempting thing to do, but at $135, I need to think about it.

Also, Disney and Dickens on 12/10 sounds like fun for me to attend.

I would LOVE to do the studio tour this time around but its a shame as to how the tickets are beign distributed at a time where I will be in class. I don't know if i can handle a lecture while d23 refreshing through class!

So tell us, what events are you guys and gals interested on attending.
    -------------------------
To avoid confusion, I missed to add this info which I posted later on:

I should probably share this link also: http://d23.disney.go.com/articles/09...%20Events.html

It's the "press release' Disney posted for these events.

    ADDITIONAL EVENTS: SAVE THE DATES
Complementing the above spectacular experiences are three extraordinary events.

Sip & Stroll will offer a host of exclusive, delicious opportunities during the Epcot ® International Food & Wine Festival on Sunday, October 18.

D23 will celebrate the season with Disney and Dickens on Thursday, December 10, featuring VIP seating for Disney's A Christmas Carol at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, followed by a private dinner at the legendary Tam O'Shanter restaurant in Los Angeles — a frequent hangout of Walt Disney and his animators.

On December 12 and 13, D23 will bring Magic & Merriment to Walt Disney World with out-of-this-world holiday magic.

It's not an exclusive member event as I have recently learned. Disney is hosting special screenings open to the general public from November 25 to December 13.

The benefits of doing it as a D23 member is a free popcorn tub and soda along with the treats which the Royal Package will include and some unique D23 surprises.

Thanks for the heads up, ryanvalle. I definitely will try to get tickets to this round of the studio tour. Though it would be cool to see a movie at the Disney Studios, I don't think I can justify $100 for my wife and me to see it (+ the travel to Burbank from OC). But at the same time, I'm not ruling it out. Hmmm...

There is a third post Ryanvalle posted, which is a press release about the WDW events coming up. The first post contains a link for pretty much all the fall events coming, but doesn't contain both WDW events, go to the third post on this thread and you will find the link there. Its very general right now and they don't have anything like buying tickets, what it will be, etc.

Thanks for posting the information, Ryan! These events are seriously tempting me to join D23. But,it really sucks that they are primarily CA-exclusive events, with the exception being the Magic & Merriment thing. Maybe next year will be Orlando's turn.

Updated my original post (sometimes i forget I can do that) to avoid further confusion later, but thank you for clarifying it for others

Just a heads up before you join, D23 seems to be stepping away from doing free events. It looks like the only free one around here is the studio tour, but it also looks like its the only one that D23 is really hosting. The others are public events other can attend, but they've just secured tickets for its members interested in attending.

Just wanted to let people know that the Epcot: Sip and Stroll event registration has now opened. Not cheap, but it's an event for those d23 members that are interested.

    Here's a link: http://d23.disney.go.com/expo/091809...andStroll.html

And here's the down and dirty details:
    Date: Sunday, October 18, 2009
Location: Epcot, Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida
    Time: 9 a.m. Check In, 10 a.m. first presentation
    Cost: $240 per person

Short copy & paste which sums it all up:
Attendees will be able to stroll through the Festival for lunch before enjoying one of two sessions that are part of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival — a mouth-watering culinary demonstration or a wonderful wine tasting.

Personally, I won't be there just because $240 is too much for me to spend on one event. Plus, Epcot is too far from california.

The UP premiere, studio tour, and the museum were all Free to members. It seems that the other events are regularly held public events that they throw a package together for D23 members.

I looked into the Mary Poppins, and orchestra seats are normally $135. So if you were planning on going and getting orchestra seats anyways, as a D23 member you get a DVD, back stage access and other goodies.

I'm waiting for the other exclusive events such as maybe a Toy Story premiere!

The D23 events are a completely good deal and really a steal if you're really interested in the event itself. I have no complaint about them asking for a ticket price for them as I would happily pay to attend, but really, my wallet would scream and scold me if I did since at the moment and as a student, my money should go towards other things first...

I agree! $240 is crazy to ask, IMO. I hope they have some cheaper or free events soon!

I was definitely interested in Sip & Stroll, especially since D23 keeps sending emails to me about it. (Somehow, they know that my trip coincides with it, so I keep getting emails saying, "Tickets for Sip and Stroll still available! Don't Miss Out!) However, I'm definitely NOT interested after the $240 price tag. Ridiculous.

I'll also be in the 'World on both Dec. 11th and 12th, but unless Disney's got some FREE tricks up their sleeves, I doubt I'll be taking place in the Magic and Merriment. It just so happens that those dates coincide with the gathering of Disney fans all over at WDW in a celebration that used to be called MouseFest, but, since that's defunct this year, most other message boards/groups have their own names for it. Coincidence? I definitely think NOT.

I'm attending a lot of different events sponsored by message boards and blogs (including a totally awesome one sponsored by the DIS that takes place at Toy Story Midway Mania after hours), so this Magic and Merriment would have to be pretty amazing to make me skip some of the other things I've got planned. (And I wonder how much they'll be charging for that? )

I guess this is new news included in the cost of the Sip & Stroll ticket...

NEW: Park admission — for two days at Walt Disney World!
NEW: Two tickets per guest to Disney Quest in Downtown Disney (Orlando)

D23 is a bit pricey for a membership then you add the price of the events and that is a lot of money. IMO

I think for Californians the $80 has been well worth it. I got to see the UP Premiere and got discounts for the D23 Expo. We also had two other free events: the museum preview and the Burbank studious behind the scenes tour.

I wonder and hope for you guys when that stuff will come out in Florida.

I don't think this actually goes here, but I can't find the generic D 23 thead that I'm pretty sure exists and I didn't want to start a new one just for this.

D23 Membership has been discounted: http://www.disneystore.com/d23/buy-a...rship/c/66520/
I'm sure this is just for the "Charter" membership that ends tomorrow (I think). So if you wanted to be a charter member, there's still time and for slightly cheaper. I'm sure it'll be back up to $75 on the 1st.

The Sip & Stroll sounds very interesting since I really want to go to the Food & Wine Festival. Maybe it's some sort of discounted price or something where you'll pay one price and you get to sample a beverage and food item from every or a certain number of food stands.
