I showed them casually to my wife and WARNED her before hand "Aren't these cool? I could totally see myself getting addicted to these!" So what did she do for our Anniversary 2 weeks later? Bought me 5 VM's!!! She kinda knows she's partly to blame so now that I've been collecting for just about a month and have over 40, anytime she complains I just look at her and smile and say "Hey! I warned you!"
My wife and i were never into Vinyls. When they first came out we thought they were silly. Then they released the DVC Member Vinyl and we decided we had to have one since we are DVC members and we like anything DVC. So on our last trip to WDW in April we tried to get a DVC Member Vinyl and were unable. During our time searching for the DVC Vinyl, I found myself looking at the other Vinyls more and more. I then Decided I had to have the Runaway Brain Mickey and a Young Kevin Flynn Tron. My wife was shocked that I wanted anything to do with Vinylmation since I had been so against them in the past. She was very accepting of my new addiction since it had to do with Disney and she loves anything Disney. Whats great is that she has gotten into it along with me, but not to the extent I have.
Get this... I'm the one who didn't like vinylmations. My friend got my husband into them and I was constantly telling him only a couple and only if we agree... Well now I'm the one on the forums every day stalking DS.com waiting for LEs to pop up for a few seconds so I can try to get my hands on them. Lol
My girlfriend was once puzzled that I was getting into these, and that I was spending $$$ at a time. She was used to me buying so many sneakers (imagine 7 pairs in less than a period of a month), and she understand that with sneakers, I could wear them. She didn't understand with VMs because they only stayed on my desk shelf. But I guess she is more understanding and respects that I'm passionate about it. She's calls them my toys (even though i've told her that they're collectible art!!). She's trying to change that though eheh
How my parents feel about this is another story, hahaIt's a great thing that I go to school 6 hours away.
My boyfriend has a few collections going himself (stuff from his sports teams and a toy story collection), and I support him with those so he doesn't really care about my VM collecting. He buys me them for holidays now and buys me one or two when we go to the mall. My family overall is fairly supportive. My dad calls them my "little mickey men" lol. My mom and sister think some of them are cute and my mom has bought me a few. My parents think they're a good investment (little do they know I probably won't ever sell them so that doesn't really matter)
I started with 1 vinyl and my boyfriend wouldn't let me buy another because he said I would get addicted. A few weeks later he caught the bug and now we have over 100
Sometimes I think he is worse then me....at least I can blame him!
My hubby is pretty into in to it. He likes the fun of the blind box more than the figures itself. But he did decide he was going to collect the 9" himself. I'm glad he's onboad because with the amount of $ ive spent in 2 weeks...phew I would be in big, big trouble if he wasnt into it.

With my family, I am split down the middle. One half is totally into this hobby and enjoys buying/opening them up. The other half rather see them sold on eBay, while also saying things like "It's a waste of money" and "I can't believe you're into this crap" - It's the only reason why I don't display them all around my home.

At least he doesn't quip about it all the time. I'm slowly beginning to believe he's fine with it, though he has yet to admit it... He was asking the other day why he just can't open up bloxes until finding the figure he would like to have.
My gf & I started collecting together, win win situation.
My significant other is supportive of my collection, as long as I keep it at bay, and don't go too crazy! I told her I would keep around 30 vinyls, and now have well over 80 of them :P She would like to see some of them on ebay! I also was a former collector of Video Games, and had an
entire room dedicated to my collection, so I can see why she'd be a bit worried! I can also see how anyone collecting these can get out of control - there are too many choices!
My girlfriend often tells me I spend more time and money on vinylmation than I do on her but I found letting her open some blind boxes now and again stops her from leaving me haha
I'm justifying my vinyl spending with "once you stop wasting money on cigarettes I'll stop wasting spending money on vinyls" and he cringes
The boyfriend and I started together. We've only been collecting for a few months, so I've been hunting down his favorites from previously released series as weekly surprises. =)

I actually bought the condiments series specifically for the Honey figure to give to my mom for her birthday. Together we used the rest for traders at the parks (stupid stupid stupid. I wish I still had them !!!)..... but we enjoy the trading because we trade pins and Vinyls are sometimes more fun.
My boyfriend initially did not like them, but now he has a few that he designated as his own and they sit on his shelf
My father is really the glue that holds my collecting together. Without his support, I would have never gotten such amazing things, like Pant Drip Mickey, Message Hearts, the Monorail Series, and not to mention all the Christmas Vinyl presents he gave me! Without him, I might have never been able to expand my collection to what it is today.
