I just have a very good memory. That, and I watched it practically every day of my life from Toddler years through Elementary School.

Yeah, I think all of us were at one point ... I also I liked the henchmen that never spoke (not the same way as tom ) - I am completely blanking on his name, but he always made me smile when they read "Tom's letter" to Mary
Haha now I really want to watch it! I remember it played on disney at night a bunch...or maybe I'm just imagining things. I didnt have disney channel in NY (you'd get it for about 3 days around Halloween and maybe one other time during the year...maybe christmas then...)

I also loved the tv version with Drew Barrymore. cheesy as it was, i still loved it.

Ah... I remember: "Slowly, slowly he sank into the sea. With no life preserver, he sank into the sea!"
Ohhh I think we've all been in love with a fictional character at one time or another

I always thought that was where the concept for the Toy Soldiers in the Christmas parade came from. There are some slight differences but they are very similar in design.

I really like this vinyl. One of the reasons is that it is like the toy soldiers they sold around Christmastime in VMK. It brings back fond memories of nostalgia.

JEP posted this in the Very Merry Gingerbread topic from last year:

I finally got around to buying one of these today. Anyone else notice on the receit it rings up as "VNY NUTCRACKER 3"? How's that look like a Nut Cracker?
I think this design was actually held off from releasing last year. Maybe because they didn't establish accessories yet at the time?

I think I'll be passing on this one. I'd rather save the money for the Spectacle of Lights for this year.

Disney Channel used to play Babes in Toyland Christmas Eve night. I don't remember how many years in a row they played it but it was a few. I remember being disappointed the year they decided to stop this mini tradition. It had to be somewhere around the early or mid nineties.

I also used to watch a show taped off the disney channel that had the characters skating and singing carols and there were a bunch of the toy soldiers. Scrooge McDuck sang a song about how Dec. 26th was the greatest day of the year. There was a show and dinner at one of the hotels on property that was almost identical to the disney channel program that I went to in '94.

I remember those dinners!!! We used to go to those every year until they stopped them. Those were fun.

I was looking at the vinylmation website and on the blog page is says that the toy soldier will be released on Nov 8th, but on the events page it has it being released on Nov 12th. I am confused. I thought that it was being released in California on the 12th but in Florida on the 8th. Someone is picking this up for me and I would hate to have them go on the wrong date! Does anyone know if that is an error? Are they going to be released at D-Street in Florida? Thanks for any help!

You're right, the date is confusing! However I don't think that the vinyls will be released at D-street in WDW, as it's not mentioned either on the blog or the events page.

That's what I thought too. There was no mention. I would think that it would be released on the 8th since that is when the Christmas party starts, but you never know!! Disney has been known to change their minds.... Ha ha!!!
