Disney Acquires Marvel

I am just amazed at how much thought people have put into this. In a world of Business decisions are made. This is a Business decision and a good one on Disney's part. No one knows what anyone is going to do but I don't see Disney changing a working formula. I don't see Disney moving characters out of IOA and bringing them to Disney.

They might do some things that fanboys may not like but I guess maybe they should have had 4 billion dollars to spend.

HT said it perfectly. I'm certainly thinking about all the possibilities, because I'm a huge comic book fan. I'm not decrying this as a BAD move at all. But there's so much that could happen -- both positive and negative -- that it would be practically impossible not to think about it. And once you think, it's fun to talk it over with like-minded people.

And I still think seeing Mr. Fantastic hosting something in Tomorrowland or Futureworld would be cool.

Disney will not use Marvel in Orlando parks

Despite Disney's $4 billion purchase of Marvel Entertainment, the theme park behemoth will not use the recently procured queue of characters in any of the company's Orlando parks. A top Disney executive confirmed speculation that a pre-existing licensing deal exists between Marvel Entertainment and Universal allowing the park operator to use many of Marvel's most recognizable properties in any park east of the Mississippi River. Disney CFO Tom Staggs suggested that the company will instead focus on utilizing Marvel's characters in other theme parks around the world. [

There have also been rumors of a new park opening in WDW themed around the Marvel characters and the Disney villains.

In my opinion this was a great move for Disney. Disney is totally "princessed out", there is not enough for boys. It will bring it tons of money because Disney will appeal to both genders.

...and if this park opens, while the Marvel fans are at the Marvel themed attractions, I can be in line for my favorite Disney rides with shorter lines. It will benefit all of us. (:

A new park doesn't equate shorter lines for the other parks, it just means more people are drawn to WDW all together. Considering most guest typically stay at Disney resorts and like to spend time at each park, it probably will probably only mean longer lines for everywhere.

Not only that, but a couple of posts up Peaches posted a news clip stating that Disney would NOT be using Marvel characters in the Orlando parks due to a deal Marvel has with Universal. They're the only ones that can use Marvel characters east of the Mississippi River. So I would assume that also means no rumored Marvel/Disney park at WDW.

Being a huge Disney fan as well as a huge Marvel fan, I am shocked and embarrassed that I just found out about this yesterday!!! Where have I been?!? I was in my local Disney store and saw them selling Marvel merchandise; after some quick smartphone research, I saw the news story from last August. Ridiculous

ANYWAY - I would love some avengers or x-men vinylmations. That would be awesome. Iron man, spiderman, wolverine, beast....they'd all look great with Mickey ears. Old mold please...

X-Men vinyls would be amazing! I would love to get Phoenix and Rogue!!!!! I'd be happier if they bought DC, but I can settle for Marvel!!!! It would be great to have Marvel rides, but with Universal Studios having that might be hard! They should have tried to DC!!! lol!
