    "Disco Yeti"

For those who haven't been on Expedition Everest lately, you may have no idea what I am talking about. When the ride was built, the Yeti was boasted to be this awesome large animatronic that only Disney Imagineers could dream of. Yet, as of lately, Mr. Yeti has been broken. Instead of trying to repair the Yeti to it's formal glory, they simply put a bunch of strobe lights in front of it to seem like it is moving while you go through the ride.

Thus it has gained it's new nickname, Disco Yeti.

I just figured I would share that the Disco Yeti now has his own website/blog, where they even sell T-Shirts. I found it amusing, so I again, I shall share it with all of you. DiscoYeti.com

    Enjoy! (:

That whole situation is sad more than anything. The yeti, the original yeti, was indeed pretty awesome.

I do take issue with that blog author one point, though: Figment would never act with malicious intent. But if he did, it would be totally wicked!

I thought there was a thread about the broken yeti already. They really ought to just close Everest and fix the thing. I get that Animal Kingdom would have no marquee attraction without it, but come on!

I had no idea that the Yeti was even in the ride until my 3rd ride. I was disappointed to say the least.

Haha, Disco Yeti. I'm going in December with people who have never been, so I'm really hoping that he's fixed before then so they can get the full experience.

That is hilarious, that would be neat to see the disco yeti come out in the vinylmation series.

I wish I had seen this thread before my June trip! I would have loved to see Disco Yeti but I didn't really pay attention when I rode!

They should do a tongue-in-cheek vinyl of the Yeti in a leisure suit.
    I also collect ceramic unicorns.

They could, but the Disney brass isn't exactly embracing when it comes to that nickname.

I do kind of wish they'd just shut Everest down for 9 months or whatever it would take to fix it. The ride was drastically better when you got the full yeti reveal.

I haven't ever seen it working. I hadn't been since 2003 when I went in 2008 and he wasn't working then. He also wasn't working in nov 2010. It would be nice but I am beginning to wonder if I will ever get to see him working.
Like a grand and miraculous spaceship, our planet has sailed through the universe of time.

Unfortunately, as long as Animal Kingdom remains as is, with no new expansions or E-tickets, I fear it will go unfixed. If they shut EE down they'll have major capacity issues. I think that they're terrified of closing down their star attraction without being able to offer any real alternative in the park.

Every once in a while, a tarp will go up around Disco, but when it's dropped it seems that he was only slightly repositioned.
As a side note, how many other effects rarely work on this ride? The two waterfalls are almost always off, the steam rarely comes out of the trains, and they took the bird down. It's kind of sad that this is the shape of the park's star.
