    Oh wow, that's horrible.

On a side note - I got to go to the AllStar game this year and it was really cool to be there. Very exciting and I didn't mind the new format - the game was so close!
    Trade with me!

Very cool. What team are you a fan of and did you go to the Skills Competition?

NHL has always held a spot in my heart. We broke up briefly after the lockout, and they broke my heart when my beloved Bruins lost in a playoff collapse last year, but I have faith. Tyler Seguin is the future of our team, and we'll be celebrating sooner rather than later!

True... We haven't been a good playoff team for whatever reason the last few seasons, but the great news is we can change that. I hope we get another chance to see you guys in the playoffs this year. It's good for the NHL as well. Nice individual rivalry.

Did anyone catch the Bruins/Canadiens game last night? That had to be the best game I've ever been to - there was even a goalie fight! At one point there were 11 players in the penalty boxes!

That game was awesome. Maybe the best game they've played since opening up the new building.

Goalie fights seem to be contagious. I heard there were 192 penalty minutes or something like that.

Pens managed to win tonight v LA with no Malkin, no Crosby, no Cooke, no Kunitz, no Letestu among others. We literally called up four guys from the farm team who all played tonight. We already had three guys from the minors in the lineup.

Sorry but I think we put that to shame tonight, 307 combined penalty minutes. We finished the game with literally two players on the bench.

Where to start. Tavares full on slashed Letang on the foot. Martin tried to blindside Max Talbot but Talbot saw him at the last second before any punches were landed. Tangradi gets elbowed in the head, grabs his face and is defenseless, and Clark Gilles starts wailing on him. Some jobber for the Islanders fought somebody form the Pens and then he skated down and fought goalie Brent Johnson. Goddard came off the bench and came to Johnson's aid. There was literally a 15 min delay as they tried to sort out penalties. Some guy for the Islanders who had been ejected attempted to get back on the ice and fight Tangradi. The number of 5 minutes majors for fighting and 10 minute misconducts on the scoresheet is almost comical.

---------- Post added at 11:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:24 PM ----------

Correction, the final penalty minute count was 336 and they had to pull out some sort of iron-gate fence to ensure that no one would leave the locker room and start a post-game brawl.

---------- Post added at 11:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:13 PM ----------

    Corrected again 346 penalty minutes.

We only have 3 eligible guys who can be called up from the minor league team. Tangradi has passed a concussion test but he has symptoms, I don't know how that works exactly. Goddard is gonna be suspended, so wow, we are really getting down to the bare-bones.

Bunch of trades over the past couple of days. Kaberle to Bos, Ruutu to Ana, the Av's traded their goalie, etc.

The Devils are on a tear. They are within shouting distance of 8th and after their start it would be remarkable for them to make the playoffs.

The Devils have definitely been a nice surprise lately. I'm from NJ and had basically given up hope on this season, which was frustrating after knowing their potential. Even if they miss the playoffs its good to know that they have it in them to win.

In my opinion, there are too many teams ahead of the Devils and you have to think they'll cool down at some point. But you never know some of those teams may trade off parts and may phone it home down the stretch.

I definitely agree. It would take a miracle for them to slip into the playoffs. And it really would be slipping in. But hey miracles happen lol.

Pens made a trade yesterday bringing in James Neal and Matt Niskanen from the Stars for Alex Gologoski. Definitely a win for the Pens although the Stars needed a puck moving d-man as well.

I don't watch the West enough to know about Nashville's chances but I gotta assume that they are in the second tier behind the favorites (Van, SJ, Det.)

Pens traded a 7th rounder for Kovalev today. Nice to have him back. Low risk, high reward type of trade.

Always! we were in 4th for the longest time, but the race is so tight that we are currently in 10th. Right now there is only 4pts between 5th and 10th, so we'll see how it turns out!

Cooke suspended for the rest of the regular season and the first round of the playoffs.

How do you feel about that? It doesn't really help him that he was suspended last month

My boys have clinched a playoff spot, but that is normally a bad sign. I think I would rather have them playing meaningful games scratching and fighting to get there. Not take anything for granted. Come on CAPS, get it done this year!

The hit itself was pretty weak in my book. However he is a repeat offender so the suspension should have been big. The NHL should have been dishing out big suspensions for years now and we wouldn't be dealing with the head shots issue.
