Thought i'd start this thread, help users and give ratings and suggestions when planning on dining in Epcot.
Japan - Kaki-Gori Shaved Ice Stand (good for a hot day or any day!)
Yakitori House (Shogun for the win)
Germany - Biergarten (Buffet style, oh so good, I love that place!)
Mexico - Cantina de San Angel (Love the Cantina nachos there!)
Morocco - Marrakesh (Went with some friends for a birthday celebration, belly dancer performance with musicians as well, got the Seafood Bastilla & Roast Lamb Meshoui, also the Watermelon Delight beverage, very good!)
France - Boulangerie Patisserie Great pastries!
UK - Yorkshire County Fish Shop featuring Harry Ramsden's
i know i've eaten at a few more, but here's what i remembered. :)
 Let the recommendations begin!

Great idea. I haven't eaten at very many places around the world sadly, so I'm anxious to hear everyone's recommendations.
Mexico - Cantina de San Angel (http://allears.net/menu/men_cant.htm) - this counter service eatery is MUCH better than the place inside.
Germany - Sommerfest (http://allears.net/menu/men_gerc.htm) - the counter service doesn't compare with the Biergarten (or so I'm told). The smell of the kraut isn't the best thing in the world, but it makes up for it in taste. A good place to get a snack in the afternoon. The bratwurst was excellent.
China - Lotus Blossom Cafe (http://allears.net/menu/men_lbc.htm) - this was just OK. Reminded me of typical Chinese food you can get in the local mall.
American Adventure - Funnel Cake Kiosk (http://allears.net/menu/men_fun.htm) - Mmmmmmmmmmm. :yum:
France - Boulangerie Patisserie (http://allears.net/menu/men_bps.htm) - again, another good snack for the afternoon. Pair it up with a Grey Goose or Grand Marnier Slush. Just don't drink too much :puke:

also, one place that never goes wrong for me that i have listed is the Yakitori House. A nice cold one (Ichibahn) goes good with it, also, if u have the time, make your way to the gift store where they sell Sake, have a shot of Himizen, it goes down very smooth and tastes very good. It's pricey (highest on the list), but you get what you pay for!

Le Cellier-yes, a bit on the pricey side, but I think the food is excellent.
Somerfest-I definitely agree, excellent bratwurst. We ate there several times on our last trip.
Teppan-Edo-Good food, good experience, just wished they took the Tables in Wonderland card.

Haven't eaten at many places here, but I really need to.
The Mexico counter service is pretty good.
LOVE the Kaki-gori in Japan...(but don't eat this over the Nikon D80 that's around your neck. It's a pain to try to clean off the lens) don't ask me how I know this....it's not important.
got to agree with BigAl_PT on Germany and China.
France - DEFINITELY get a Grey Goose slush! :yum:
I really need to make an ADR somewhere in the WS next time I go.....I feel so ignorant (Shut up BigAL_PT...and BlakeMP)

Also a good rule of thumb: BEWARE OF SEAGULLS when eating the funnel cake. When we were there in January, we saw one attack a woman from behind and fly away with the rest of her funnel cake. She was walking right in front of us and the thing just swooped down out of nowhere. She never saw it comming....hehe....it was pretty funny...well, for us... :look:

hah yeah, i've seen that too, my brother an i are very protective with our funnel cake, mwahahaha! i have seen squirrels before, one time in epcot, there was a squirrel and we had cashews, so we gave him some, he kept coming back and my brother and i were like, wow he eats a lot, so i figured after about the 20th cashew, i wanted to follow him so i did , this little squirrel, was hiding all of the cashews we gave him, he spun around and saw me, and he left. lol. pretty slick squirrel!

The World Showcase has a special place in my heart...for many reasons! ...food is one of them!
Here are some of my favorite things to eat/munch/slurp around the lagoon:
Mexico - lime margaritas from the Margarita Stand
Norway - School Bread from Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe
China - fried rice from the Lotus Blossom Cafe
Germany - mmmm, the Biergarten of course!
Italy - Italian margaritas from the stand
American Adventure - funnel cakes when there isn't a line
Japan - tempura vegetables from Tokyo Dining
Morocco - the sampler platter at the Tangerine Cafe complimented by a Tangerine cocktail
France - Chefs de France is my favorite restaurant in Epcot. I love the onion soup and the vegetarian lasagne. Also for lunch they have a great three course meal for $20!
United Kingdom - the potato leek soup and the sticky toffee pudding at the Rose and Crown are to die for!
Canada - I think I am the only person who thinks the cheese soup is not very good....but the duck three ways appetizer and the maple creme brulee make up for the overrated soup in my book! :)
Cheers,
Matt

The only place in World Showcase that I haven't liked so far is the restaurant in Mexico. The atmosphere is awesome, but the food just isn't very good considering the price.
My favorite is Germany's Biergarten. The beers are huge and the food is very tasty! Both restaurants in Japan are good too. We tried the Hibachi grill on our last trip and it was a lot of fun. The restaurant portion has very good sushi plates too.

I want to try Biergarten, but I'm kind of afraid because I don't really know what anything is!

Yep, that's a pretty fair assessment of the Mexican food at the restaurant.
The only person I wouldn't recommend Biergaten to is a vegetarian. They have a lot of different types of meats and sausages. They also have a musical/dancing show for entertainment. My only warning though is that your group will probably end up sitting next to a bunch of strangers at your table because that's how they do it in Germany and Austria. It's definitely a unique experience.

Love the Living Seas, very nice inside and fun to watch the people scuba diving. Food is great.
I've eaten at every country fast food and inside dining.
Love them all except Germany and Morocco, not fond of their food. But belly dancing was nice to watch in Morocco.
We ate in Canada once, we try to make reservations everytime we go, 90 days ahead, it is by far the hardest to get into. My favorite in there was the creamed spinach.:yum:

I really enjoyed the Mexican restaurant, although since I am a veggie, they have a separate menu. It onlly consists of two items! They need to have a bigger variety. I also enjoyed the Italian restaurant, the bread with the garlic butter is awesome.

Overall I've eaten at just about every eatery in World Showcase. Usually things turn out very good and the only problem we ever had was 3 years ago in Italy. We waited until 8 for a 7:15 reservation, the food came out cold, We told them we had a wheelchair user in our party and then they tried to seat us where she couldn't access. Overall it was horrible. I understand that since that time it has changed hands and I sincerely hope that it is a better place to eat.

Ehh, I've eaten there since the change. And I dont really remember the food, but I remember feeling EXTREMELY rushed and that our waiter was annoyed to have to deal with us (it's not like we're that difficult...there's only 3 of us) It definitely wasnt the best experience.

They actually sell it during Food & Wine at the little stand in front of Canada.
Its just REALLY good cheese soup. Not too thin, not too thick. Just the right amount of cheesiness.
OMG I'm getting so hungry just thinking about it!

We were in Epcot in December and was trying for attempt #2 at drinking around the world. We started in Mexico and didn't make it any farther. They have a little tequila bar inside the pavilion that is a lot of fun! They serve appetizers there too...they were really yummy! Highly recommend it!

Oh gosh. That's such a hard question.
Cítricos is definitely at the top. Veal Shank :yum: (Although the tiny fork they give you for the bone marrow :puke:...not so much)
Jiko is another good one. (Bread Basket = 4 different great breads)
Marrakesh in Morocco is great (one, you can always get in there. two, the food is great too)
Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (Norway), I had some strange green pasta thing, but I remember really liking it
Chefs de France: Two Words: Cheese Plate (I love cheese so I always get the cheese platter whenever there's one on the menu)
There are so many that are good. I could be here all day.

My husband is really picky too! And has a seafood allergy. We did eat at Nine Dragons (China) this past December...he really liked it...he got the honey sesame chicken. It was a bit pricy, but at that point we were happy to be off of our feet for a bit.

That's not a bad idea actually. He does like Chinese. We both LOVE the Yak & Yeti in AK and even the quick service that's right there too. (Cheaper and good food) :yum: We both like Mexican too, but I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about the sit-down there.
Growing up around the city, we both really like spicey food. So, I don't know if I'd be willing to try France or UK. I've heard the food's bland (No offense to anyone in those countries. I'm talking about the Pavillion food, not the actual country)

Ahh speaking if eating in epcot mexico (San Angel Inn Restaurant *inside )is giving me heart burn again :puke: , I came to analogy that the lighting in there is dark for a reason. They don't want you to see what you are eating. I had it once and that was enough. My stomach felt violated. The outside food wasn't that bad, we will share something from there as a snack.
France (Chefs de France) wasn't bad and they seemed to push you out. Could have just been our waiter, but that's the feeling we got from him. But there cream brulee was tasty. If i can't in to other places I would easily go back. One place we did not get to go to is the France bakery shop (Boulangerie Patisserie). Every time we went back there is was so packed  So maybe next time
My favorite place in epcot is in Canada, Le Cellier, I just love their cheese soup & breadsticks. The wife likes the breadsticks but thinks the soup is a tad acidic * heads up. And I haven't had a bad steak there the 8+ times we have been there. For their desserts i love the maple cream brulee. The Chocolate Whiskey Cake is good also, used to be better they changed up the whiskey they use for this.
Well that's enough food talk for now, I'll write some more a bit later, plus I have tons of pictures of the food so I'll have to post those also. I ust have to find what computer i put them on
But i agree 100% with HitchHikingGhostFangirl, Each country is definitely worth trying at least once, even mexico :look:
Also everyone needs to do drink around the world once, bit pricey but still fun. :drunk:

I actually agree with you! They serve some really weird things in the Rose and Crown. It's pretty much pie, pie, pie and fish and chips. Pie is very much a northern UK thing, like english chips and gravy :puke:. If you served that menu over here you'd close down very quickly because no-one would eat there!
Personally I think the only thing keeping the Rose and Crown popular is the view for Illuminations.

Feel like sharing the recipe???? :cross:
Ingredients:
˝ Pound applewood smoked Bacon (cut into ˝” pieces)
4 Tablespoons butter
1 Diced red onion (about 1 cup)
3 Diced celery stalks (about 1 cup)
1 Cup all purpose flour
3 Cups chicken stock
4 Cups whole milk
1 Pound aged white Cheddar cheese (shaved or grated)
1 Tablespoon salt (to taste)
1 Tablespoon pepper
1 Tablespoon worchester sauce
1 Tablespoon tobasco sauce
1 cup warm beer
Method of preparation:
The number one rule in Cheddar cheese soup is “Low and slow”. This recipe takes about an hour to make, and if you try to turn the heat up and rush it, you will only ruin your work
The number two rule is “Keep stirring”. This is a soup that can burn, and takes a lot of tender loving care. When in doubt, “Keep stirring".
1. In a large Soup pot (At least 1 ˝ Gallon) render down the bacon. All you are looking to do here is to liquefy the fat in the bacon, you are not trying to brown it.
2. Add the Butter and melt it.
3. Add the Onion and Celery and sauté until onions to start to get translucent.
4. Dust this with flour and mix to form a roux. Keep stirring until all of the flour has been incorporated.
5. Add chicken stock, slowly, while constantly stirring. You are looking for something resembling a gravy at this point. It's going to be very thick.
6. Next add milk, again slowly, while constantly stirring. This should significantly lighten up your soup at this point.
7. Turn heat up slightly, it's time to melt the cheese. Add cheese very slowly in small amounts, while stirring constantly. Allow each portion of cheese to melt away before adding the next. Keep stirring.
8. Now add salt and pepper. Be very careful with your salt. There is a lot of salt in your bacon, and possibly even in your chicken stock.
9. Next add worchester, tobasco, and beer. Keep stirring.
10. Turn down the heat slightly and let simmer or serve. You can garnish each bowl with some finely chopped bacon and chives.
When you are reheating this soup (especially in a microwave) you need to remember the 2 rules. “Low and slow” and “Keep stirring” you want to be constantly stirring this to ensure it blends evenly.

Feel like sharing the recipe???? :cross:
Le Cellier is very open about the Cheddar Soup Recipe , I asked the waiter one year, and actually gave me a card with the recipe on it, printed and everything. So next time you stop in ask away, they might still have cards to give out. That way you can put it with your other recipes.
So last night I used Le Cellier's recipe to make the cheddar cheese soup again and this time it turned out AWESOME! It tasted just how I remember it at F&W. I made a huge pot of it so that's what I'll be eating probably today and tomorrow.
:yum::yum::yum:
I think i know what i'm making for the super bowl party, I completely forgot about making that. I did it once and boy it was on huge pot. Lasted a couple of days. I might have to make a couple different batches with different beers

Yeah... there are actually a couple of cookbooks with a compilation of different recipes from all over WDW that you can buy. Allearsnet pretty much has them all posted though, and then some.

That's true - I bought one at the Food & Wine Festival a few years back and it's got some good ones in it. I bought it for the Beer Cheese soup and the Chimichurri beef from Argentina :) Yum!

Probably slim to none... considering it took me 3 months to even GET a reservation.
You may be able to put your name on the list in hopes that someone doesn't show... but then you could be there for hours.

Doesnt hurt to try. With the new online reservation system ALOT of people are booking in multiple places for the same time. I'd say get there 30mins to an hour before they open for dinner. And try on an odd night.
Good luck!

Oh....they're open for lunch? I haven't tried booking a lunch. Is the menu the same for lunch?
I think I'll go ahead and try to book a dinner for at least one place in the WS. That way, even if I can't get into Le Cellier, I can maybe get in somewhere else. The hubby will just have to deal with it! :tap:

I'd possibly avoid extra magic hours nights too. One of the benefits to staying on Disney for 14 nights is we could book 90 days in advance of day 1 for day 14 so managed to get le cellier on our last trip.

Well that's good to hear, it's really a hit or miss with Le Cellier. Looks like you made a direct hit.:yum:
I recommend the New York Strip Steak (if you like that kind of steak, there filet is good but kind of small for the price imo), but get the cream cheese mashed potatoes instead of the potatoes they have with it. It's so yummy putting the juicy steak in those potatoes. Then finish it off with the Maple Creme Brulee.
Again congrats on getting in:thumbsup:. You'll have to tell us how you like it.

I love to take pictures of the food we eat and then take notes on what we like and don't like. So that way next time we go we know exactly what we liked. Plus it really helps if we go with the DDP. That way we have a set up of restaurants we like and don't like. So that way if we can't get a reservation we can easily make another reservation right away. We try making 1 or 2 new places each time, so that way we can keep changing it up. We love our food so when it comes to food we don't mess around. :yum::yum::yum:

The boyfriend and I were going to get pictures of all of our food that when we ate our way around the "world" on our last visit...but after the first three places we totally forgot. x.x
Still, it was a blast trying at least one thing from counter service in every single EPCOT country! I was certainly never hungry all day long @.@ Here's a rundown of what I personally tried:
Mexico: giant plate of awesome nachos... sadly don't recall the official name!
Norway: ham and apple sandwich, my favorite thing at Norway, I never miss it!
China: mango tea, not a food item but definitely delicious.
Germany: bratwurst and sauerkraut with plenty of mustard. My German heritage makes me love this stuff, so this was my favorite food of the day! :3
Italy: pistachio-flavored gelato which I ate in the very chilly rain but was still tasty.
America: the most gigantic and chocolate-covered funnel cake I've ever experienced.
Japan: ginger salad, another EPCOT food I never miss.
Morocco: mint tea, as I was feeling very very full by this point!
France: strawberry tart. Some girl who walked past the bench where I was eating it shouted, "Looking good! The dessert, not you!" o.O
United Kingdom: fish and chips, of course! With plenty of malt vinegar!
Canada: a nice cup of coffee since there's no official counter service. ;)

The best reason to get a Park Hopper pass at WDW - Epcot restaurants! Spend the day at other parks and go to Epcot for dinner ;)
Last time we went to WDW we checked in at the hotel and went straight to lunch at Teppan Edo in Japan. That night we went to Les Chef de France for dinner - amazing creme brulee! Both are really good especially if you like steak :)
Have not been to the Italy restaurant on a very long time but it used to suck, I have heard that it is much better now. There are so many restaurants that I have not given it another try. Le Cellier is a big favorite, used to go there alot as a CM - best to try at odd times or you will never get in! My all-time favorite is Restaurant Marrakesh - and their take out place is awesome too.
Not a big fan of the US, German or Norway pavillion foods. All the others are good but I would have to spend my entire stay just at Epcot!

We've only eaten in a few of the Epcot restaurant, and we were shocked at the results. We had a ressie for Coral Reef (a dream of mine), but weren't impressed with the food at all. Thank goodness the atmosphere was amazing! MIL was dying to try the Rose and Crown, but the family wasn't nuts about the food there either. I liked it, but that might be because I was the only one drinking around the world! Imagine our surprise when we stopped in at Nine Dragons to get out of a storm. It was fabulous-a must do for us on all future trips. Don't be put off by the poor reviews; this one is a hidden gem.

My favorite sit down restaurant hands down is Teppan Edo in Japan, it is a wonderful dining experience, the waitresses are the sweetest. I also don't leave Epcot without eating Fish & Chips at the Rose & Crown at least a few times during my visit. DELICIOUS!!! I am hungry now...
Oh I thought of another must eat... the curry udon soup is beyond scrumptious. I enjoy it more in the colder months but I still indulge in the summer.

So, I tried Teppen Edo again over the weekend. The show is good, you get a good amount of meat. But you don't get any salad or soup (have to pay extra) and the veggies are blah (zucchini, onions, noodles and mushrooms) None of which I like.
For the price, it's really not worth it. Just go to a similar restaurant at home. You'll get more food for the price. Definitely wouldn't be worth the 2 credits.

I love the Mexico restaurant indoors and out. Does anyone know if you have the Full Dining plan if you can still use those credits at a Quick Service place? I only ask because we have gotten the QS the last two years and we like to hit a restaurant now and again. I guess the prices might even out with the more you pay to upgrade the plan versus paying out of pocket for a few meals.
