This sixteen (yes you read that right, 16!) figure set will be released on July 23 at D-Street at both the Walt Disney World® Resort and the Disneyland® Resort. The set has an edition size of 1000 and a retail price of $255.95.

Even though I am not a billiards fan, the set looks really well done and the packaging is awesome. I like that they included a pool cue vinyl with chalk as well! :happy::happy:

This set will be around for a long time. I like the idea but billiard balls are boring looking. So I am sure many collectors who are completists will get this but that price is not doing anything for me.

I like the box and the set is cool but overall seems simple. $255 just seems way to expensive for that edition size and the simplicity of the designs.

The smaller the edition size the higher the price will go. The cost to create smaller edition sizes with limited runs cost way more then when the edition size is larger. Think in terms of why "buying in bulk is cheaper" then when you buy a single item. Also, the packaging can cause the cost to go up. This is a pretty nice display box that this set comes in.

I know one member on here will be really happy. She has been waiting for this set. The price is kind of high. I tell myself I am not going to buy a certain set, but I always end up getting it anyway. So hopefully I can resist buying this set. I like it, but dont love it.

I agree with webster (above) there is just too much being released. Even though this set was mentioned long ago to be produced, I wish they held out a little longer and slowed down.

I really like this set but at $255, i'm not sure i could do that. Disney is pumping these out way too fast for me to be able to keep up.... i give up :cry:. It's officially come to the point where i don't know what to do with these anymore lol. I have tried to keep up but with trade city around the corner,trying to save money to get married and something being released almost every week for the past 5 to 6 weeks or so, i can't keep going at the rate i'm going lol. I think with that price they will be around for a long whilw. I also love the design of the box as well as the 3' vinyl that has the pool stick and cue chalk. The rest of them not so much and I love pool and play alot of it. One of the reasons that I collect vinyls is because of the creativity that goes into the vinyl. Seems like Vinylmation is releasing more and more vinyls with very little creativity in it. People will argue how can you put more creativity into a vinyl that is suppose to look like a pool ball, you can't but I think there are alot of people who will pass due to price and lack of creativity in the Vinyls. The box looks great

I agree that's how the pricing SHOULD break down. But given the way they priced condiments I'm not really surprised.

Condiments were 6 @ $85, breaks down to $14.17 each. At similar pricing, that would make the Figures in Billiards priced at $226.67, with less than $30 on the packaging.

This is also one of the reasons I've so far passed on Condiments. I'm rather hoping we'll see it discounted on Disneystore.com.

Good idea holding off. Everything is supply and demand, if they don't sell they will be forced to lower the price. As I see it, im 99% sure the price will drop either at release or down the road.

the Cue ball and three other numbers
and then release the other 12 as a blind box
with the 8 ball as chaser of course

This series is the latest example of, in my opinion, Disney being lazy. This series lacks any and all creativity, imagination, or originality. And they have the nerve to significantly overcharge for them.

You can add this Billiards series to the Condiment series, the Toy Story chaser, Sports, Clear and Big Eyes as all vinymations that I have ZERO interest in buying because there is nothing creative about them.

Give me the Park series, Urbans, Cutester/Muppet/Holiday over those boring vinyls any day of the week.

Whew...with Trade City in Florida, at least the DLR sets won't sell out. :)

I am also in the camp that the likelihood of a fast sellout is slim. Considering that Trade City will be in August when several other sets may also be out for sale (star wars, possibly park 5, etc...), I think these might be on the shelves for a while, especially with the steep price. If the price were say $160 ($10 per vinyl), then I would think a fast sellout as you proposed when people are there for trade city, will be more likely. With price at $255 , even with an annual pass discount, it might just sit for a while... Just my 2 cents...

Clearly Disney is experimenting with moving the price point per vinyl. I think if they want to do that, they need to do something to vinyl itself (say bigger like a 5" vinyl, bedazzled, or something physical to the vinyl...sell accessories)...(kinda like they did with making bigger pins), not just the packaging.

I have been interested in this set ever since I first saw them on here in the upcoming section, but like everyone else has said I don't like the price. Regardless this is still a set that I want, yes the design is simple but I still love how they look and if they are still available for sale when I go down for Trade City I will be getting me a set

I can appreciate Disney trying to upscale a set or two, but HOLY OVERSATURATION, BAT MAN! You must be rich if you're buying all of the inventory I just mentioned and still considering this one. For the first time in a long time, I will take a pass. Not good timing on Disney's part here.

As much as I love a lot of the new releases out, it's all just too much. I knew you were really looking forward to this set. Maybe with a passholder discount it would cut down on the cost and make it more manageable. The set is kind of cool, but I am also going to watch ebay and maybe someone will have it listed for less than retail. It would be a very nice set to keep in the box.

I will not be getting the set. Like many others here, the price point is higher than I would pay considering all of the other releases. That said, I think the edition size is reasonable and Disney will either sell out over time, maybe with the help of eventually discounting them. I'd rather them be an LE of 1000 than 100 or 250 that people feel like they need to buy them to have the low LE, but that is just my preference. Also, compared to the Cinderella tin, the closest LE 3" release, they are a "bargain," although the design isn't nearly as nice.

I actually like the way these look overall, and I like that packaging. That said, when I saw the news on the blog a little bit ago with the price, I needed to pick my jaw back up off of the floor. I think Disney's in "Let's see how far we can push the price point and still get people to buy these things" territory.

My attitude is, they can keep them for that price! Heck no am I spending all that on a special vinyl set! As much as I find them cute, I only love a couple of them and will eventually go the eBay route, maybe. There comes a point where you just say "No." :-X

This has been my worry going back to roughly last Fall (I don't exactly remember when). They're cranking out so much so fast, and with prices like this, I'm just seeing a big "Crash and Burn" warning sign in the not so distant future. Saturating the market with way too much stuff, and some way too expensively priced stuff, is the exact same mistake they or their licensed companies have made with other collectibles and nearly killed certain lines in the process. I think the DS issue is good from a business standpoint because it will draw more people into the line and expand the fanbase, but the sheer amount of items and some of these prices are not, imo.

Couple of thoughts come to mind;
1. Like most here like the box and wanted the series but am troubled about the price.
2. I am remembering when it was announced sometime last year that all these sets were going to be released and my thought at that time was OMG overload. Now I am living the nightmare. lol
3. No longer a completist so my mind rests somewhat easier...Yeah, right.
4. The addition of vinyls to the Disney Store makes sense from a business pov, but I think will suck from a collectors pov. Meaning, Disney is going to continue to pump out product they have the resources now to sell it on multiple platforms.
5. Ultimately, I am still going to collect vinyls as much as our wallet allows and not get to peeved when we can't get a set for whatever reason(this is getting easier with time) Still a Vinylmation Fan!!!

So I have four receipts, two of which were paid for by my son (who's 7 :lol: ). It took us two trips--first before lunch so we could get the first four sets. Then another trip after lunch when the manager wasn't around to get the last four sets. :)

We bought a set for a member here and were going to leave without getting one ourselves(especially after my mini-rant on this page a week ago, lol). Well... hubby had to have the set. Can't say no so we are a proud owner of a set. I do have to say the packaging is awesome but I still don't think worth the cost but must keep hubby happy. My poor checkbook(weeping silently).

I went to D-Street to check the billiards set out and after looking at it, I caved and bought one! They are very cool and I can justify the price based on the added packaging that they use to showcase this set! :happy:

While the packaging is quite nice as everyone has mentioned, I was more impressed with the rich colors and the glossy shine. If I decide to keep set #8, I will not be displaying it in the packaging. :lol:

At D Street they initially had them piled behind the registers when they were released. With the Urban 4 9" ones being released this last Friday, they moved them into the stockroom and you have to ask for a set (which is nice so the boxes don't get damaged) so it is hard to say how many they have on hand.

good to know that, if I didn't know that I would've assumed that they were sold out, I hope this makes some people think they are sold out and wil give me a chance to get one in a few weeks :pray:

it was quite tempting for me to see them on display at DCA at off the page? I talked to one of the CM and they said they had quite a bit left in the back still. I think the price is steering alot of people away as well as me. I bet you once there gone or not available, people will be looking for them !

When I went yesterday to get my set at WDW D-Street, the cast member went into the back and came back empty handed. She pulled one from behind the register which looked like they had less than 10 back there so I am assuming that is all D-Street has left.

I like my billiard set. It displays very well. It made me think of instead of them doing a 9" urban 2 bowling pin that maybe they should have done a bowling set with a short little runway between the pins and the ball. I know I'm wacked! lol

I've been hoping that they're having troubles selling this one, which is a good bet based on how long its been on DS.com. So I'm hoping to see a price reduction at some point, then I might just bite the bullet and get this set.
