I just wanted everyone's opinion on this......we're selling off our extra sets on eBay and were wondering if you think we should put our Urban 1s up as a set or individually? I know I should be posting this in the selling or trading section but for some reason it won't let me go in there right now. Anyway I hope to hear from all of you on this.....thanks a bunch!

you can't goto selling or trading section unless you have 15 posts. and if you want to sell them on ebay, you are looking in the wrong place for advice. VINYLNATION Members rule, Ebayers Drool!!

Take a little bit of time and do some research. Look at some ebay auction for sets that have ended, and then individual pieces. Then take notes on the current auctions the same way. Continue to do this over a period of time and you should have a pretty good idea.
Also this has been discussed on these boards before. A member has even created a site. Check out the site: http://vinylmation.info

They weren't asking about a rough price guide, they want to know if they should sell a set separately or as a set. Plus the .info site hasn't been updated in almost 3 months so isn't accurate anymore.
For the older sets you may find selling as a set works with new collectors who want to get everything in one shot, however not everyone has that kind of money in one go plus you then lose the buyers who just want the odd figure like Drummer Brooks.
I'm in the same position, I have a few spare full sets that I need to shift and can't decide if I should split them up or not.

I say break them up and sell here first! You save on fees and you help members find the hard to find ones.

"this" refers to a rough price guide. bethan sorry u felt otherwise.
A rough price guide can certainly show a trend of prices from 3 months ago until now. Using that data along with ebay data can show you if it would be better to sell seperate or as a group. Bethan you may not use it as a guide because it is old, but there is value there.
For the older sets you may find selling as a set works with new collectors who want to get everything in one shot, however not everyone has that kind of money in one go plus you then lose the buyers who just want the odd figure like Drummer Brooks. There are older collectors who also need complete sets. New or old collectors consider being able to get everything at once as a plus. Also, when you split a set you can find yourself not being able to sell some of the less wanted pieces of the series.

dangel59 looks like you will have competition for your sale(s). So also consider timing. If bethan is selling her's at the same time as you, you may not achieve the same price you could when you are the only one selling.

I say break them up as individuals and sell on VN.

Alas no, I won't be selling anything for a while yet. I'm probably going to wait until November and bring them to WDW with me.

No lol that's not me........I'm sorry I'm new to this selling thing, we've always just bought them, I'm trying to get 15 posts so I can check out the selling and trading section and maybe I can help out some fellow vinyl collectors :-) Thanks everyone for giving me advice on what to do!

I agree with that for a couple of reasons. 1) You will be helping out your fellow VN member and 2) after Ebay & Paypal takes their fees you might as well sell them here for a reduced price. Ebay and Paypal fees can be at least 10% of the selling price.

Just depends on what you feel is more worthwhile monetarily and/or easiest for you in terms of time spent. Ex. If you're more comfortable dealing with one buyer than multiple buyers, sell them as a set. Otherwise, I'd also say it's probably better to break them up. Very few people have the kind of money needed to buy everything at once. But many people have enough to try and get one (or two) at a time.

I completely agree with peppermint. Selling as a set doesn't always work well. You're more likely to get them off your hands selling individually (and probably make more too, the only exception is Park 1s). And ebay and paypal fees hurt your pocket and profit.

I would definatly say if you are a true collector and want to help other collectors out you will sell them or trade them on here and not go straight to ebay.

:agree:When I'm trying to get the earlier ones, I always check here first to see if anyone is selling them. I tend to buy mine individually so I vote for breaking up the set.
