When staying on Disney Property, which resort is your favorite? I am leaving Villas/DVC off of the poll since they are technically in a different category.

My favorite resort is the Polynesian. I just love the tropical atmosphere, not to mention the best restaurant at Disney is located there! Ohana! :yum:

:agree: It's also the first resort I ever stayed in on property (that I remember; I was a year old on my very first trip and have no clue where we stayed for that one), so there's some good memories there.

I also have to give props to Pop Century and Port Orleans Riverside. I thought it was pretty stupid to leave to go on vacation and then stay in Port Olreans, but since it was where the group was staying (my husband had to go for work. oh darn), I had to stay there. I was pleasantly surprised and would definitley stay there again.

There are a bunch I've never stayed at, but hope to eventually hit them all...my goal in life. :look: Is that sad?

The Polynesian was my first Disney Resort too! But I had to vote for the Contemporary! It's so cool to stay in the main building and watch the monorail go by!

That's one of the ones I've never been to. I'd love to stay there and the Grand Floridian one day!

I vote Animal Kingdom Lodge. The themeing is great, the resteraunts are amazing, and getting to see African wildlife outside your window is so cool to me.

I haven't gone to WDW very much. In fact 2009 was my first visit ever (and my second, and later will be my 3rd...I kinda got a bit addicted :-X) so I haven't stayed at very many.

My first trip I stayed at the Yacht Club by chance, the resort I had booked originally was over booked and they bumped us up for free. Sweet deal! My second trip I stayed at Coronado Springs.

I know Yacht Club is a Deluxe, but I wasn't impressed - it's just not my style I guess. Coronado was surprisingly awesome!

But my favorite has to be Polynesian. Actually a toss up between the Poly and AK Lodge, but the edge went to Poly for Ohana and for being on the MK Monorail line. I've eaten at all the Poly's restaurants, and visit often just for the decor. It's so accessible, where as the AK Lodge you have to drive over to. That's the only downside though. I love Boma, and look forward to the trip when I book a Savannah view room for the week.

Staying at each resort is also a mini-life goal of mine :)

Animal Kingdom lodge is a very close second for me but I voted for Wilderness Lodge. I love the theme, the pool, the food, and the boat ride over to MK.

Wilderness Lodge, for me, is the epitome of the Disney experience. I adore it so much that I wish I could live there 6 months out of the year!

Love the theme, love the shop, love the antics at Whispering Canyon, love the Lake, love the Geyser, love the boat to MK, love the CMs. You get to see the Water Pageant from the beach. There's the bridge, stream, and character totem pole in the lobby. Opportunity to maybe be Flag Family. Lodge tour many days. And if you're in the South (I think it is) wing near the end, you can see a lot of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. I could go on and on.

Love, love, LOVE Wilderness Lodge.

Definitely AK Lodge, It has great restaurants and a nice atmosphere, who doesn't want to wake up to see the savanna outside your room?

I, too, had to pick the Polynesian Resort. It was the first resort I ever stayed at. The user bars in my signature show the resorts that I've been to. Wilderness Lodge was for my honeymoon, it's AWESOME and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Pop Century, GREAT, All Star Music was just OK. And I liked the Carribean Beach Resort, but it's just so freakin' big.

As for the Poly, there's just something about it. Ohana, the beach, the view of the MK just across the Seven Seas Lagoon. It's definitely my favorite resort at night. Even though Boardwalk has all of the restaurants and Jelly Rolls, I LOVE to walk the Poly at night.

Is that where we stayed at when I was a year old? I obvously don't remember, but that was my first trip there. I know that's where we stayed when we went in elementary school. Do you or Blake remember my first trip?

I really didn't like the Carribean Beach resort. I thought it looked kind of dingy and run-down and not at all "Disney." Maybe we just went at a bad time. There was a lot of construction and lanscaping going on at the time, so maybe that was it. Whatever the reason, it totally turned me off of that resort. I'm not going to say that I'll never stay there again, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

I have only stayed at The Polynesian, Contemporary and at both All Star Movies and Music. My favorite was Polynesian. I love the tropical setting.
Next trip Im hoping to check out Animal Kingdom Lodge.

But I also really love the Fort Wilderness Lodge. In reality we stay at Pop Century the most though. :)

Caribbean Beach was my second overall favorite (next to WL) until they recently renovated it and Nemo-ified it.

Yeah. A movie set in Australia TOTALLY belongs in a resort set in the Caribbean. In one fell swoop, Disney ruined my favorite Mod. :-X

I've stayed at all resorts but Ft. Wilderness and Port Orleans: Riverside. :P

I think I've stayed at every resort now, including DVC. It's hard to remember actually. lol

I'd have to say the Contemporary (only main building) especially right above the Monorail. it was very soothing. Although, I could do without those funky sinks.

Would love that to be a goal as well, Big Al! I have only stayed at all the All Stars, Coronado and Wilderness Cabins. I have been to a bunch though.

Yeah I stayed at Coronado twice (second time kinda didn't have a choice) and I wasn't impressed. Too much use of the convention center there and it seems to take away from the magic.
I have heard that Riverside is the best side to stay on there, I have always wanted to try that resort.

Coronado Springs will probably be one of the absolute last resorts I stay at. It just has no appeal to me (other than a pretty cool looking pool). It seems out of the way and extremely large. As for Port Orleans FQ & Riverside, I always stayed away from those since I'm from just outside of New Orleans. i can see the French Quarter whenever I want (like this past weekend) and I've driven past plantation homes all my life.

Yeah I can see that you would want to go something that is not as much of a familiar theme and all.
Looking at the site, I guess the Cabins at Fort Wilderness are considered Moderate now? I thought they were always priced higher. I really really loved it there. especially because we actually spent Christmas there one year. It was so nice and cozy and lots of cabins had up full decorations. So much fun!

It would be interesting to stay at a cabin...but I'm at WDW! I want to stay in something themed incredibly awesome like the Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian or Pop Century. To me, that's as important as getting out to the parks.

I actually like the Cabins, and I absolutely hate anything too camping-like...plus I found the bag of towel animals in the closet...lets just say there were a couple less at the end of the trip ;)

I'm not a fan of the Polynesian. Stayed there a few times, one time they put us on the third floor with no working elevator. I like the main building just not the actually hotel part.

My favorite is Animal Kingdom Lodge; however, I have a feeling that's going to change when I stay at Bay Lake Tower in October! BTW, if you ever get the chance to stay "club" (concierge) level at any of the deluxe resorts, absolutely do it. It's fantastic, and definitely makes your stay extra-special.

So far, I've stayed at the following:
Pop Century (pre-DVC, and still a "nostalgic" favorite)
Animal Kingdom Lodge (club-level - absolutely fabulous!)
Boardwalk (was so-so. We had a fantastic BW-view room, but the entire resort is so looooooong and parking there is awful)
Saratoga Springs (I absolutely HATE this resort, and I swore I'd never stay there again, but for my trip in Dec, it was the only resort open ).

Soon to stay at Old Key West and Bay Lake Tower in October! I'll let you know what I think of those.

What was wrong with the Saratoga Springs? I am planning my vacation next year to stay for a week. Everything looks great. For the price one is paying for a week I want more than OK or someone saying they hated it. I didn't want to stay at the Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge reminds me to much of the Grand California. I wanted something total different to accomodate 7 people, I am going for the 2 bedroom suites. If something is better for the money please give me your opinions.

There's nothing wrong with it, everyone just has different opinions. Like I personally hate staying in the Polynesian, while others love it.

For 7 people, it's definitely worth it. The rooms are large and has a full kitchen which is good if you're staying for a week.

I know when I stayed there is was quite nice, everyone had enough room (there were 5 of us) and the kitchen is a great thing because you can go off-property to a supermarket if you want to save costs on the easy things like breakfast and water.

It depends on if you're rating it on theme or accommodation wise. :D

Wow this a tough one. I've stayed at almost all of these places at one time or another. They each have their own great features. I guess my favorites are Polynesian and Grand Floridian. My husband and I spent our 30th anniversary at the Polynesian in a room right on the water. We sat on our balcony every night to watch Wishes over Cinderella's Castle. It was sooo magical! There's nothing quite as amazing as waking up looking across the lake and seeing the Castle on the horizon.

Chemnerd09 and I spent a week at the Grand Floridian on a girls only trip in May. GF is a wonderful hotel too. The room was beautiful. We even had a sitting room. We had a great time and this was the week that both of us became addicted to vinyls.

I've stayed at 11 (including my 8 night stay at AKL this coming August) and my favorite has to be Pop Century. I love the theming and its also fairly close to Studios/Epcot and its the best bang for your buck. After all, you're only in a hotel to sleep so why spend a million dollars a night at the Grand Floridian? My first thought to this poll was Old Key West but was disappointed to not see it on there

I have stayed at the Poly countless times and thought that nothing would ever top it as my favorite; until I stayed at AKL. On my last trip, I had a wonderful Savannah view room and fell in love with the resort. My family and I went over to the Poly for breakfast one morning (have to get my fix of tonga toast) and couldn't help but think how dated it felt now. I really feel, for better or worse, that some serious renovations need to be done there to bring it back up to its former glory.
