The wall-e and eve set has gone up to nearly $300! How much higher do you think it will possibly go for in the future?

Unknown, but keep in mind only 500 exist and these are becoming more and more scarce on ebay. The scalpers who bought them all out are running out, and more and more are ending up in the hands of collectors. This isn't an item like Balloon that there are probably 20,000 or more of. There's only 500 of these, and it's a pair of well-known and popular characters.

Really, the sky is the limit for this set. I won't be surprised--at all--to see this set selling for $500+ within the year.

I agree with Maxgoof. I seen one on ebay go for a little over $400, its crazy. But I am sure that is low for what we will see in the future.

Question...how much did it retail for?

The Wall-E/EVE set retailed for $24.95.

However, it was only available at retail for literally minutes.

I could be mistaken, but I think it retailed for $24.95. Don't have a set, but admire Kayla's (^_^) from a distance. ;-)

I dont think anyone can predict that. It can stop where it is now or continue to go up.

what a horrible question to ask, why would you want to know how much higher this thing will cost? i hope it doesnt go up more at all lol

its not a horrible question! I bet all of us are thinking it!! I think the same thing with all of the vinyls that have gone up in price, like Pooh and Piglet.

I think that it will jump also! Just like maxgoof said, there are only 500 of these out there and they are becoming scarce

I was curious, I know what the 3" 9" and the 9" combos retail for but I had no clue on the wall-e set. We just started collecting these recently.

Thanks.

Not true as I bought mine the day after it was released!

Let me rephrase that: "However, it was only available at retail for literally minutes, except in a small minority of freak cases where stores had one or two sitting around that they did not put out on release day when the parks were inundated with scalpers and collectors."

Again, there's really no way to tell. You can look online and use current sale prices to gauge how much you can sell them for right now...but no one can tell you how much these things will sell for 3 months from now.

It is a horrible question because a lot of us missed out on this figure even though we waited in line for it and to hear you have 2 and are trying to see how high it will go sounds like you want to know just how much you will be able to get for it when you decide to sell it. If thats not the case then im sorry for saying that but as of right now thats just how it sounds to me.

Kind of sounded like that to me as well, and I agree if that's not your case I do apologize too. I usually don't call people out (haven't been on the boards that much to do so), but there are quite a few members who have been rubbed the wrong way by your questions and excessive trading/selling posts. So yes, knowing you have 2 while many people are trying to get one at a fair price and asking people how high they think it will go just translates to: How much profit can I make off this vinyl?

One was on ebay for 350 buy out like last week, but it had ther "Make An Offer" button, so I offered $250, the buyer sent a counteroffer of $300 didn't feel like buying it for that much and it was bought out for 350 the next morning..

Hilarious! LOVE Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!!! Kayla needs to see this post. She'll flip.

As far as this question is concerned... Ah... Does anyone else remember the days of Ty Beanie Babies?

I hope you wait to sell your Wall-E set for the highest profit margin only to find yourself giving it away on e-bay for ten bucks. I'll be there to snag it up then.

I think that the price will start to come down, or at least stay the same. It's annoying. I'm sad I missed this release :(

I feel that the price will continue to go up, and right now it is about even with the balloon chaser and will easily pass it by the end of the summer . The cheapest BIN right now is 500, and then $ 1200 . A SHAG sold at 700 as a BIN a few days ago , and the next one listed went up for double that . If a 9 inch park 1 Mansion just went for $ 360, and there are 500 of them, a SHAG selling at $1000 isnt out of the question. Cinderella tins have passed over the 100 mark, and will hit 200 by christmas . Look at the new castaway tins. Very few are available, and no one has them available with the cards . Honestly, I see park 1 leveling out ( except for the 9 inch ), park 2 will continue to go up, and all special releases and LE's will continue to rise.

Sigh, still holding out hope that I can get Wall-E/Eve at a "reasonable" price... I mean, shoot, people will still make tons of money from its original retail price, regardless!

i think this goes the same for all things, once it's released the market is saturated with them and sellers will get a high amount for them. After a little the demand will settle a little and at this point people will just hold onto them until the item becomes legendary then at that point people will spend butt loads of money on it. However, money today is worth more than money tomorrow =)

i honestly think only time will tell. As time goes on i think that the price will go up...

unless there's a re release i'd expect the price to go up slowly over the years

i must admit to finding it very interesting how it seems half of the ones listed on ebay are in the $300 range while the other half are in the $1000-$1200 dollar range, always makes me wonder if the higher ones are just that greedy? or if the lower ones are fakes? or am i just too paranoid and reading too much into things?

It's just eBay sellers hoping to snag that one poor buyer who really doesn't know the value of the set and/or doesn't see the cheaper ones listed. The lower ones aren't fakes.

I think the price will strictly depend on the overall market for VM's. I remember when beanie babies were all the range and people were investing their kids and grand kids college funds in them ( no joke ). Now they are not worth 1/10 what they were at their peak and that is if you can find anyone who wants to buy them. I also predict that they in a modified form will be re-released and the price will come down some.
