We are happy to announce another Vinylmation™ Jr collection, which will make it's appearance in the near future.

http://i47.tinypic.com/2jwgts.jpg

This bright packaging has a "color block" design and was designed by Disney Design Group Artist Thomas Scott. What's inside the box you ask? Well, we're not quite ready to reveal the designs just yet, but we can say that the collection has great personality (or is that personalities?).

Yea, otherwise it's getting too far away from the idea of VM and is more likely to cause collectors to get burned out.

I agree, the $8.95 price is a bit steep for the series one set, but if they do happen to use characters in the second series I'd gladly pay the $8.95 for one.

Well the keychain is removable on all the jrs, so maybe they are just stating that fact. I really like that it's removable too- it's so much easier to display without a the keychain attached to them ;-)

JDub11

I wish the keychain part wasn't screwed into the head.

They should take a page from Toy2r, their small figures come with a keychain that's not attached to the figure.
If you want to use it you pop the head off and there's a little washer do-hickey that the goes on the neck for the body and you pop the head back on.

It would probably be cheaper to manufacture too if they didn't need to screw in the little eye-hook like they use now.

That does sound like a nicer way to have the keychain done. Maybe they'll start doing that for future series :)

If this series includes Disney characters as keychains--and I think that it will--then I think this series will be a big hit and a MUCH bigger success than Series 1. I think starting the Juniors off with what was basically an Urban set was a really bad idea.

This is so rushed. How are they going to start selling a series in a few days and nobody has seen any of the designs or even knows what the series will be about? They just told us there would be a new jr. series a few days ago. I wonder why they would all of the sudden push these ahead of all the other series we're looking forward to.

Interesting... it does feel kind of rushed. I guess the Jrs must be really easy to produce compared to their 3" and 9" counterparts? It seems like it takes months to finalize a 3" design, but Jrs pop out like rabbits. Remember when the first series for the Jrs came out with the quest? That was the first we heard of them and then they got released just like that.

I'm excited to see if they will have Disney characters on them. Sould be really cute! But I kinda wish we got Toy Story, maybe even Urban 4, first.

What did Thomas Scott call Vinylmation, Jr. Series #2 again? Oh, that's right.

One thing I notice is there is a slight color difference between this part of the box and this one:

http://eventservices.disney.go.com/static/vinylmation/images/VMJr2_ColorBlock11.jpg

But probably just different sides of the box. Series 1 had a little glimse of 2 different figure on opposite sides of the box from each other, yet these do not. So possibly these are the top and one side of the box pictured above

Surely they will give us a little sneak peak before release day.

Hmmm... I don't think they would do that for a jr's set. But that sounds like a cute idea for a set in general. Each artist does a caricature of him/herself... Would probably only appeal to die-hard collectors though.

They posted yet another color box side today. Perhaps they are somehow related to the World of Color show thats starting out at Disney California Adventure (stupid 's-less name) The announced on sale date at DLR is a week after the first official showing of the WoC show. And they keep mentioning things like "Colors. So many colors" I'd say its either related to the WoC show, or they are doing a set of what are basically colored blank Vinylmation Jr's.

Yeah that's what I was wondering- if they were going to do colored blank jrs- but then the first clue had said that the jrs would have more "personality". I don't know, the more I'm thinking about it the more I think it's not going to be a character set, which makes me sad and relieved at the same time. Sad because I really wanted some character jrs, and relieved because now I might not have to worry about saving for this set

As for the second VInylmation series having personality, but being colorful, maybe they are blanks but they each come with a set of stickers to add your own personality?

Then, todays blog has a link.. follow that and in the story it states, "One last little known fact is that the Vinylmation, Jr. figures designed for this series were actually the inspiration for the later Vinylmation, Jr. key chain series. The first shipment of the 1.5” figures included with the “Oh Mickey!” series don’t have key chains, yet the subsequent orders will. This should make the originals truly unique just like they mouse in which inspired them."

Also the + is just part of "COLLECTIBLE FIGURE" + "KEYCHAIN"

But I still kind of like the keychain option. I think it's nice to be able to display it or carry it on your keys/purse if you want. The whole in the head doesn't bother me (tho it might bother my jrs :look: I should ask them...)

The 2nd Series has to be CHARACTERS! Or some character-related design, anyway, and hopefully not just color blocking of each characters colors. New blog is up on the Disney site, and they spell it out without directly saying what the theme is. Pic of the box label has been changed to various shades of pink, and white. Here's the hint:

Okay - so we hear that there are some questions around the theme of Vinylmation, Jr. Series #2. Let's take a look at the box top above (to which we took the liberty in changing the colors). What colors do you see? Does it remind you of anyone? It makes us smile . . . . almost like a cat.

http://eventservices.disney.go.com/static/vinylmation/blog.html

Cheshire Cat fans at the least will have something to celebrate, it sounds like! Now to figure out what the other color box labels represent. The blue, white and yellow could be Donald, but the light light blue is throwing me off. The others I need to ponder more.

As dopey as I thought the first series was at that cost, I will shell out some $ for some character versions, if they are done well.

#5 Cheshire Cat (no-brainer since we've already been told that's what it means.)

 When I read the description of the colour design on the pinkbox I immediately thought of Lotso! Then I read further on and saw Cheshire. Yes I have Toy Story on the mind!
Looks like this release will in fact be character based! Enough with the box pics, lets see some vinyls!!![COLOR="Silver"]

---------- Post added at 11:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:50 AM ----------

Oh and my guess:
1. Tigger
2. Donald
3. Seagull (mini Mine, Mine, Mine)
4. Simba
5. Lotso...but its Cheshire.

I'm excited to find out that it's going to be all characters. Hopefuly they will look as good as I expect them to be. If they look great, it's gonna be a very popular series. I know I"m buying a tray if they look great. I just hope they don't put some dinky ugly characters that arn't even popular in the disney world. Here's crossing my fingers that disney doesn't get lazy and put in some dumb characters that no one likes. I wonder what the 2 chasers are gonna be.

 but then I realized I was looking at some older pictures where is bowtie is not red or dark pinkish

I guess in my mind I was also hoping for some characers we haven't seen yet.

I think it would be cool if they did all "small in size characters" from movies since they are "Juniors"....like the cheshire cat, timon, huey, dewey, louie, flick, thumper, etc.

argh, i wish they would hurry up and just release the pictures of what they look like! There's no point holding out on us. IF marketing were smart about it, they would let us know what it looks like so everyone would get so excited and stoked that we all rush to buy it. Seriously I dunno who the knuckleheads are working in the marketing department for vinylmation but they sure are not handling this properly. We know what urban 4 looks like, we have previews of toy story, nightmare before xmas, star wars, but not even ONE jr. series 2 when it's going to be released next week? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM!?

*sigh* disney you make me so mad sometimes

I'm not sure where you saw any TS figures expect the one & only Buzz Lightyear

I agree with you to an extent. I'm not quite understanding how some series we have seen just about the complete sets of in the last few months through either the VM displays at the parks or images posted on the blog but yet out of nowhere they announce a JR series #2 only 2 months from the series 1 being released, and I don't think they are just flying off the shelves either :nono:

I mean I have to admit though it's a little fun not knowing and you know they are sitting back enjoying seeing us go crazy over this.

Think positive; at least they gave us a release date and just didn't release them and all the sudden a board member post that they saw these new JR sets when they were at D-Street ;-)

Where is today's blog post with another color combo? :tap:

I'm going with Snow White for the new box pattern.

And I also agree that #2 and not #3 is Donald, and #3 is probably Cinderella.

They still need to lower the price, though. Just in looking at the size and feel of the ones that come with Oh Mickey and Sports, they are so not worth $8.95. I'll buy a few if it's characters I love, but otherwise... not so much.

Totally agree with that. Yes the stickers are a cute and neat idea, but what are we, 10? I get it, but honestly bring back the cards. The stickers are flimsy and they are easily lost.

They aren't tradable in the parks themselves, yet, but you can definitely trade among collectors and members on the boards. You could also trade them at the trading nights at WDW and DLR.

If money is an issue, just get Series 2 or the ones you like from either Series. I guess if you're a completest, you might want them all, but there comes a point when you realize "I just can't do this" and you only buy what you really love. For all we know, Series 2 might come out awful looking and most of us might not want it anyway.

These do sound quite cool, though. If there's a Donald one, I'll get that right away, and Figment if he looks neat. The rest I'm interested in will have to get to the back of the vinyl purchase line, haha.

the new vinylmation jr's are famous characters from disney movies and cartoons as jr's without faces. mickey, minnie, donald, chip/dale, peter pan, tinker bell, pluto, goofy and a bunch more but can't think of them. my wife and i saw photos of them at d-street since we became friends with a few of the employees and we like them. they are supposidly coming out on the 18th of this month

Plus, I honestly think I'll be purchasing some Jr.s this time around. I really didn't care for any of the designs from this first run, but this round seems real promising.
In a previous post, someone mentioned the possibility of these not having faces. I actually wouldn't mind this, if that be the case. Minor references to symbolize the character's design is kind of neat to me. Plus on a random note, I used to do paintings of people without faces because a) I wasn't big into doing the face and b) it looked interesting and creepy without a face. Haha, yes I am weird...if you haven't managed to tell already. :D

After reading this entire thread in its entirety I had to go back and review the Jr.'s. I really loved the two I received (one with Football and one with Green Oh Mickey!) and actually like most of the first series. Making me the minority here. :)

I know there is a lot of Disney love, especially for the characters; however, if it wasn't for the Urban series and a lot of the non-character vinyls I'm guessing there would be fewer collectors. I definitely prefer the Urbans over the Parks and it was the Urbans that got me hooked. That being said, I will, however, be logging on bright and early first thing tomorrow morning to participate in the fun.

The Series 1 Vinylmation Jrs are the urban looking ones with the keychain, I think those are the ones most people here are referencing. The ones that came with the Oh Mickey and Sports aren't part of the "series" although they are Jr's.

My theory is that with such a smaller "medium" to work with, the Jrs here do a good job of "representing" the characters. If the Jrs had faces that had to be detailed, I am not sure how well they'd look so I like these. I don't see me "having" to have the complete set. And heck, if I only get one chaser, I can't tell the damn chipmunks apart so I'll just pretend I have both. LOL

I have quite a few favorites in this series, Nemo being my favorite and I don't think I could pass on Chip and Dale, too bad they're the chasers though. Oh, and Donald! I don't know how long I'll be able to go before I buy my first blind box. haha

For some reason, my computer won't let me open the pictures! I just tested the Jr 1 page to see if I have the same problem, and I do. I could see the Condiments previews without problem the other day, and still works now. Anyone have an idea what the problem on my end could be?

Glad I was prepared for the faceless aspect. Would've been a massive disappointment if I hadn't already read it in a post from another member. Some look neat (what little I can see of them...), but seriously? NO faces? Sigh. They did faces on the backs of the Oh Mickey Jr, so I find it hard to believe that they couldn't do it for these. Must've been an artistic choice. One I do not care for, either. Oh well.

Glad so many of y'all like them, though!

I love these without the faces. There are already a TON of pins and other merchandise that looks JUST like the character you love. This is a bit abstract while still giving you a feel of each character. The color schemes are fun and playful and give a feel for each character.

Same with Vinyls though for me, my favorites arent the ones that look JUST like the character, but the ones that give the feel of the character in a unique way.

Stupid is overly harsh. I mean, I get not liking them so that's fine. However I'm glad the set has a theme. Series 1 had 3 designs max that I liked. The rest were very cookie cutter. I have a half case coming to me but I don't see the Jrs ever as a set I have to complete. I'm going to give some of the "girlie" ones to my daughters. But I don't collect pins :-P I really hope that some of these characters will appear in the future on 3"s in their full form face and all! I know most of these guys will be in future releases (Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Buzz and Woody) but I'd love to have Chip and Dale with a real face on them, in vinylmation form.

Now that I can actually see the full pictures (thank you for posting them!), I think Buzz and Woody turned out the best. They're abstract enough that you aren't saying "Where are the eyes?" Nemo too probably, although I'm just on Nemo overload and automatically dislike anything dealing with him. Minnie is cute, but just looks like a shrunken Cutester.

I'm sad to say I don't even like the Donald Jr. I'll eventually get it just to have it, but not because I like it. Otherwise, I can only see myself eBaying Buzz and Woody, and maybe Pooh and Tigger. Chip and Dale are cute, but the no eyes bugs me too much. And Figment missing wings and eyes is rather tragic.

Overall: Sad for me as a collector, but good for my wallet, anyway!

I really like these, but I agree that faces would have been nice. On the other hand now we know why they came out so quickly, they just slapped blocks of colored paint onto Jr's. I hope a rushed release wasnt the reason behind not having faces though.

Sorry if I missed the release date for these but is there one?

They came out yesterday. There will be plenty at the parks.
One thing I will say is that these will sell. Jrs 1 was great for Vinylmation because non-collectors bought them. Now with Jrs 2 being (somewhat) recognizable characters people are really liking them.

Should be noted that as of ten seconds ago they are not selling them at D-Street at WDW, so they're saying.

I wasnt going to get these but once my girlfriend spotted them there was no stopping her. She wanted to blind box these instead of buying a case and in my opinion they are way better than the first series. Man this vinylmation thing is really killing my wallet lol

I wasn't going to get the Jr's Series 2 either, which a lot of other members have already mentioned. I personally don't care for the size and didn't really care for the designs for Series 1, which I do not have any of. I must admit, after seeing Series 2 at the parks today, I really wanted to get the Winnie the Pooh. I feel the Jr's are pretty expensive, even with the AP discount, especially when you factor in their size and also realize that they cost almost the same as a 3" vinyl so why not pay a dollar more for a 3". I know someone also mentioned that previously, but it's a good point! I just really wish they were a bit cheaper. At the same time, I really like the designs in the newly released series and actually wished they came in 3". Anywho, to make a long story short, even though I found the Jr's a bit expensive, I ended up getting 6 of the Jr's and can't wait to get more, haha!!! Anyone else???

I love the designs of this series so much. It's great that they're abstract and only have the idea of the characters, not such a literal interpretation of them. I kinda with they were 3 inch figures since I think it's such a great blend of the urban art and the Disney touch.

“Vinylmation Series #2 is unofficially called ‘Color Block,’” he said. “The series features designs inspired by some famous colors combinations. I think our Guests will enjoy collecting them all. And it would not be lucky for me to share any information about Series #3.”

Vinylmation, Jr. Series #2 will be released at Disneyland Resort on June 18, 2010. It will be released in Florida on Friday, June 25 at D-Street at Downtown Disney WestSide. It will also be released on the Disney Parks Online Store at a future date. Like its predecessor, Series #2 will contain 16 known figures and two different mystery chasers. Each figure will be packaged in a mystery box, which leaves me asking, “Which one did you get?”

I bought a case of the jr's and some of them are marked up with brown looking smears or little round dots of tan on them. Like the back side of Cindy's ears that are gold have brown dots or smears on them. Bambi's belly has tan smears on it, front of snow white dress has tan mark on it and couple others like this. Not sure how many in the case like this because I gave half of them away and didn't look at those close. Wish I could take a picture but have never done that and not sure how. Anyway I was wondering if any one else had any problems with their's or was I the lucky one that got the bad case???? And I know you can not return vinyl's but I wonder if anyone knows if they let you return marked up vinyl's that came out of the box that way????

I think that they rub on the stickers!! Mine always have little marks on them! I just assumed it was from the stickers, but I could be wrong!

Thanks, I never thought of that. That could be the problem. But none of my jr's 1 have marks on them. Maybe I will try the magic earser on them and see what happens.

Is it possible to remove the key chain part out of the figures without causing too much damage? My wife really likes the Jr figures but hates the key chain part.

Yes, the keychain part is actually removable. Just unscrew it from the top of its head :) I was so happy when I realized this with my first jr, as I really wanted to display them but the keychain kept making it topple over

Very small. You can't notice it while they are displayed. It's very discreet, and the keychain so easily comes on and off that you could put it back in any time you want ;-) You can even keep the metal part of the keychain that's directly attached to the vinyl on, and only remove the key ring if you want, but I prefer displaying mine with the key chain attachment is completely off :)

Hope I explained all of that clearly :look:

Perfectly clear to me. Thanks! I'll let her know. There were several designs she liked but she doesn't like the idea of the keychain parts.

Didn't read the whole thread so I hope I'm not rehashing anything. I didn't think much of these when I saw them in the parks for the first time. It wasn't until my wife pointed out a cool way to display them that got me into the idea. There was a pin trader, who was especially a VN fan, walking by. She noticed he had the VN lanyard, all lined with various VN pins. At the bottom of his lanyard, rather than displaying one of those big "medals", he looped a key chain with a bunch of Vn Jr's hooked and dangling. I really liked the idea, so I've started my own collection of VN pins, with Jr's hanging at the bottom, including my fortunate Chip chaser I scored.

sorry if this has been discussed but I didn't see it when I searched:

Is anyone else having trouble with the quality on the goofy's? I bought a bunch of these for family and friends and ended up with 3 goofy's all of them have excess brown paint splattered on the back of the figure. It was more than a little disappointing, it's not like these things are cheap

Man, that's so disappointing! I haven't gotten a goofy jr figure yet but I would be so bugged if mine came like that. >_<

Sorry to hear about your Goofy. I'd have to agree though, the quality on them is very hit or miss. Actually come to think of it the Urban 4 quality is really bad as well. I know Disney uses a few different manufacturers, so I hope they are taking note on which of these have shotty quality.

Thanks! for some reason the quality issues has only been on my goofy's. I hope they get this straightened out in the future.

Did you experience quality issues with VM jr's other than the goofy? just curious

I love this Series and just started collecting them. So far, I have purchased 4 boxes, but only opened two- Buzz and Minnie. I am so psyched with those, and hope that Goofy, Donald, Figment, Pooh, Chip or Dale will be in my future!

I have purchased 8 or 10 of these and I can also say that only my Goofy had issues - the same brown splotches as described. Very odd!

My Goofy had some brown splotches too, but they rubbed off very easily with a soft cloth and a drop of water.

I honestly thought they were gone, as I hadn't seen them for two or three months, but I was down at the parks (WDW) on Friday, and they are suddenly back! Woo!

They were quite literally almost everywhere - saw them in Epcot, D-Street, WoD, and Once Upon a Toy. In large quantities, to boot!
