Do we know which of the upcoming sets are going to be limited in any way (guaranteeing I won't get them...)? I'm particularly interested in Star Wars & Toy Story, but can't tell if they're limited?
Thx,
Lisa

the only vinys that have a limited edition # are the 9" vinyls. There are some 3" vinyls that have been released that had a limited edition # and they were Wall-E & Eve and Cinderella. Some future vinyls like the 3" set bird and tree combo will be #to 750 and the 3" American flag #'ed to 1,500 another one will be the Mr. Toad annual passholder exclusive #'ed to 8,000 I think. all series like Toy Story, Star Wars etc do not have a edition size #. We only know that Disney makes enough of them to last on the self for a year I think but pretty much when they are gone they are gone. Hope this helps

By limited, do you mean ones that will only be available for a period of time? The only series that are "open-edition" right now and will be available indefinitely are Sports, Oh Mickey!, and Big Eyes.
There's a finite number of every blind-boxed set produced, which is the amount Disney estimates for the series to last nearly a year. So in that way, all blind-boxed sets are "limited" to an undisclosed set number produced. Star Wars and Toy Story are both expected to be part of the blind-boxed series, so they should be available for many months, if not a whole year.
Every 9" figure is extremely limited and has a set number that is much, MUCH smaller than the 3" blind-boxed figures. These range in edition size from the rarest (SHAG) at 150 to the most common (Gingerbread Mickey, Jack Skellington, Tiki Mouse) at 800 each.
There are also expected to be two 9" Star Wars designs (Rex and Wampa) and two Toy Story 9" designs (Aliens and Zurg) which will be highly limited.
Does that help? :)

Have to agree with Phos the 9" figures are all limited to some # and the stand alone special releases line the cinderella tin and walle set and those are also limited. Other then that the 3" sets of toy story and stars will not be limited, but of course someday they will run out lol. ANd the 9" figures from those series will be limited editions.

They currently have 3 designations for Vinylmation. Open Edition, Limited Release, and Limited Edition. As mentioned before, Open Edition sets are the ones where you can see the figure, ala sports and oh mickey. Basically that means that Disney can make as many of these as they want at any time that they want. If they determine that one sport is selling better than others, they could in theory make more of just that figure to keep up with demand. The Limited Release are the blind boxed series. Those Disney has stated that they will not make more at a later date of a given series. So once they completely sell out, they should be done. Not a sell out as in just came out and the stores don't have them in stock today, but sell out as in they have been out for a few months, and no one has them. Now these ones should last for at least a few months, up to about a year. Limited Editions tend to be smaller numbers, and once they are sold out, they are gone unless someone finds a box misplaced in the warehouse. Those are usually the 9" figures, combo sets, stuff like that. There are some oddities, for example the Flower and Garden vinyl. That could be open edition since you know what it is, but it is produced in limited numbers, which should be much smaller than the regular Limited Edition vinyls. Not sure how they actually classified that one as they are constantly revamping the system.
