Hey there guys - new to the forums still and the first few VMs I've purchased/fell in love with were the park series. I do like a lot of the urban series, but just what are they supposed to be? I mean, the common theme of them all? Is it just...things we encounter in life? Is there an actual Disney statement about what it's supposed to be or is it open to our interpretation? Thanks guys!

They are just an opportunity for the artists to do something beyond Disney and the parks. While some have had a Disney theme (Oopys, Confetti, Pirates of the Caribbean), most of the others are just what each artist came up with based on their imaginations. It is a chance for the artists to be creative and see what else they can do with the Mickey Mouse shape as a canvas. There really is no central theme behind each series. Hope this helps.

Well said Mouseman74. I am partial to the Urban Series because they are different from the normal, which is what I like. I am not a fan of the Park or most of the other series for the reason they are based on everyday Disney. I am not saying that is bad, but it is just not my thing.

Thanks for the insight guys. The more I look at the Urbans, the more I want some, haha. A great series for sure.

I think urban are not a nice compliment to the park series. I collect a little of both series and all the series in between. I'm not a completest, but both main series are equally fun to me ;-)

I collect both the Park series and the Urban series. Some of my favorites are Urban vinyls. Like the little green dragon from urban 3.

Urban series are just different you never know what new design will come out. With the park you pretty much know

I agree that the Urban series is a good way for the artists to go beyond the Disney Park medium. With designs such as Checkers from Urban #1 we can see how Vinylmation truly is an art form, reminding us of such modern geniuses as Andy Warhol and the many artists of the Pop Art movement. Wait a minute... Pop Art... Vinylmation... I just had a brilliant idea for a new series of customs. ;)

Id have to agree i like seeing what the artist can do when not tryint to neccesarily make a disney design on a vinyl. I like seeing what sorta creative things they come up with and it seems there is just a neverending stream of creative ideas. All except for the gear bears lol, I really wish they wouldnt put 2 or 3 in a series, one is enough if they wanna keep that trend going, 2 is a little mich and then to make 9"ers now? Oh man please no more gear bears. The rest of the designs are awesome though and I cant wait for urban 4!!
