So my friend spoke to steven miller at the PTN on friday, and he told me seven mentioned that they are beggining to "phase out" urban 2 to make way for the upcoming urban 4. He also said they try to produce enough of each set to last 1 year on the shelves.

Are they still selling those in the parks? I know they are not online but to be honest I'm not sad to see them go. They are by far my least favorite series.
Urban 4 looks to have some neat designs. I love tin mickey, the super mickey, and strawberry field.

Yeah, I think Urban 2 is ready to be retired too. It's my fav complete urban set, though and since it was the first one that really got me into vinylmations I still hold it dear to my heart  ;-)

Go for it! And then trade green tea for balloon in 10 years
In all seriousness, tho, that's probably a good idea! If I had the money, I'd buy an extra tray of every release, lock it in the basement, and dig them out once the vinyls are long gone. Then the newbie collectors would be at my mercy. heeheehee >=)

Confetti has always been a popular vinyl. Good luck getting your confetti, I was just able to trade for a couple extra from CMs - but I don't have cards for them.

no they haven't but when they do you will see it posted on the vinylmation.com site and on here. But the first clue that Urban 2 is starting to sell out is when you can no long buy the cases online and when VN members report on the vinylmation tracker thread saying that they are seeing less stores carrying Urban 2

I suppose anything is possible but I think the Park series is more popular
than the Urban series, IMO.

Definitely think the Park Series is more popular but these should go up in value a little, maybe not as much as the park series but probably a little! :)

I agree, Im all about the Park series, I think its because its so directly connected to the artwork of the park itself. Thing is though, I couldn't resist but collect Urban 2..lol
and Im sure i'll continue getting the other urban series!
Plus, yesterday I noticed that all the black boxes for trade with cast members all kept trading...Urban 2 and Holidays... it kinda took the fun out of trading. They must be really trying hard to phase them out!

Yeah, eventually they will just ship them to Disney Store and discount them online, then I will pounce on them like the Marathon ones!

You didn't here this from me :gossip: but I heard from a friend, from a friend, from a friend who is married to another friends friend that heard from another friend that said when Urban 2 becomes retired there are gonna be two figures from that series that will shoot up in value as much as if not more than the Balloon chaser and those figures are............................................... ......................the gear bears..............
I just noticed that Urban series 2 is on sale @ Disneystore.com along w/ Park #3 and clear (again). Both Urban #2 and Park #3 are $7.99 the clear are $5.99 (I think) the Epcot flower and garden is also on sale for $9.99,vinylmation shirts are also on sale
They really are trying hard to phase them out if they are on sale at disneystore.com. I was wondering if mass amounts of them would end up in the black trade boxes, I didn't realize thy already were! :) honestly, my bank acct is hurting so much I hope it takes a while to phase them out so that Urban 4 is released much later! Lol just wishful thinking!

The only time I ever saw them was in January 2011 at the Star Trading store in Tomorrowland at DLR. I was surprised to find them since I thought they had been all sold out already but I guess they found some trays. They had 2 of them. I just bought 4 boxes and I really regret not getting more or just buying the whole sealed tray they had.

Urban 2 definitely did not retire in 2009. They were still seen in DLR around Halloween time 2010.

They are definitely retired! I think Disneyland had them well into September 2010, maybe even November! I don't remember seeing any in Walt Disney World during Trade City (August 2010) or Christmas time (2010)! :)
