I'm pretty OCD about the condition of my toys and I try to save all boxes whenever possible.
Most of the time when I buy blind boxed figures like this, I use lighter fluid, goo gone, or some other type of solvent to dissolve the glue and then flatten the box once it dries.
The boxes for these Muppets, however, have a thin coating of plastic over them, to give them that matte look and texture. I didn't initially realize this however and used some solvent and the layer bubbled up and won't really go flat again.
Does anyone else here flatten their boxes? Any tips on how to do these without completely damaging them?

id suggest just cutting it along an edge of the bottom with an exacto knife to get a clean cut. There is so much glue onit i dont see how you would get it all off.

I was really surprised to see how much glue they use. Many blind box figures only have a dot/few drops at most and a little shot of a solvent will pop the lid right open.

its how they are doing boxes from now on so they dont get people opening the bottoms all easy and stealing figures probably or stopping people from seeing whats inside.

I slit the bottom edge with a razor blade. I like doing them on the back side where the picture of all 12 are Since thats usually turned to the back facing the wall.

I've found that the plastic letter openers (ones with the little blade) work well. I also scrapbook so I sometimes use...(I'm not a pervert!)...a boner. They're those flat things you use to create clean creases and folds. I use the boner to get in between the 2 flaps they glued together and then pull it out slowly. Both methods have worked well for me.
 haha I can't even read that without laughing so I hope some of you know the gadget I'm talking about!

Your post did make me laugh!!! Dont worry I have a boner also!!! I always just called mine a bone folder. I have never heard it called a boner.

When I got my first box I was trying to open the top as carefully as possible. I'm really OCD about my boxes too. But when I opened it the top teared and came off. I couldn't move for a whole minute. it was devastating... :(
