From my POV, not so much. Disney Shopping's website is known to have massive problems when an anticipated item is released, like certain LE pins. Beyond that, I'm all for a portion of the LE figures being online, but not all of them. Makes it that much harder to get due to the greedier resellers rapidly buying them all up. You can only run to different park stores so fast, you know? That allows time for phone orders.

I am either going to be very relieved or very miffed off today. This was my second-most wanted Vinyl out of Park 4, next to only Sci-Fi.

Oh for Heaven's sake. If this CM's info is accurate, then why the heck did they say on the blog it'd be out today on the site? Typical Disneystore.com LE nonsense. I never even went to sleep, because I saw that blog post and saw the Tiki 9" up on the site around 3am and I was afraid I'd miss it. Despite what Disney thinks, the majority of collectors, I would assume, can't just sit around hitting F5 all day.

They need to get their act together, because it seems like the right hand never knows what the left is doing.

When they move to the 1st page they will be available. I have noticed in the ds.com store... most of the time stuff appears on the last page when it is either sold out or getting ready to be in stock. And it usually takes a day to make the move, LOL... I look for the park 4 9's to show up on the front page, in stock on Friday... IMHO

The fact that Vinyl_Junkie was told on the phone the 3"ers are available says right there the website isn't accurate. Hopefully it's a matter of their stock not being updated yet and not an actual delay. Because common sense says if you're going to announce a release date as they did, it might be helpful to make sure they're actually IN STOCK before doing so.

But common sense is not so common in Disney Merchandise Land.

:agree: They do this with every release. I'm not a bit surprised that they're not available. They never are when they first get put up. It's just the way they do it.

Besides that, they know how many they will have to sell. It's an LE and only sold online. Not like they need to figure out how many the parks might be getting.

This is just irritating and a shining example of why collecting Disney collectibles so often ends up ticking me off. If you say you're going to sell something on X date, sell it. And sell it in the morning when almost everything is initially sold on the site. So frustrating to know I could wait on here for hours, finally have to leave for a few hours to do something else I have to do (which ironically is to go out and deal with another Disney odyssey-- the WDCC liquidation), and watch it be put up for sale while I'm gone and sell out before I get back. That would just figure.

I'm not terribly worried about Tiki Room selling out right away. It doesn't really make any sense for it to sell out so fast. Most of the Park 3 9"ers, including Pooh, took several weeks (to months for unpopular designs) to sell out at the parks, with the same LE size of 400 and hundreds of thousands of customers going through the park every week.

With LE sizes of 400-500, Park 4 Lion King/Animal Kingdom and Epcot are still sitting around right now at WDW and DLR after being put out a week ago.

I'm sure Tiki Room will sell out, but I don't think it is as dire as people are fearing.

If I had to make an educated guess, I would say the figure VM to sell out when posted will be Peter Pan's Flight, not Tiki Room. We know for a fact that the vast majority of Peter Pan's Flight was sent to the parks, and was a quick sell-out at DLR and one of the faster sellers at WDW. With that in mind, DisneyStore probably only has a few dozen Peter Pan's, whereas they have FOUR HUNDRED Tiki Rooms.

I'm excited! We'll see how this goes! :)

My thing is I don't trust the resellers. I'm not talking about those who are looking to flip one for a profit to help pay for their Vinyl habit. I'm talking about those in the business of buying everything they can get their hands on and then selling it for psychotic prices the average person cannot afford. All it takes is 50 or so of this type using a few different accounts, and *poof*, they're gone.

Plus any time Disney only has one outlet for selling something, that makes me increasingly wary.

Okay, here's my final informative post of this saga for now: After checking with someone (or multiple someones), the third person at the third phone number said they don't know what happened with the Tiki vinyls, but they really aren't available. Said to keep checking periodically, but no one there that she could find has any idea when they might be in.

I am both surprised and annoyed at Disneystore.com because the Disney Parks blog specifically said yesterday that the Tiki vinyls were going on sale today. I rearranged my day's schedule due to that blog post. I chose not to even get any sleep due to this, not knowing what time they might come out. My choice, yes. But if Disney is going to post a release date, they need to make sure they're actually prepared to release the figure.

The day isn't over, but it's not looking good, since almost all new items are made available for sale in the morning (usually early morning). I have got to take an hour or so break. If they come out in the next hour, hopefully some here can get a second one in case they all go. I very much want this one and am incredibly frustrated ATM.

The "Tiki Gods" must have heard my ranting and raving, because within seconds after last posting they went on sale. I was refreshing one last time before quitting. That really would have been my luck, LOL! Bad lag at first, but finally got one in my cart. Nutty day, but thankfully they did release them when they said they would. I give them credit for that.

I agree. Not the brightest eBay seller. BIN for 59.99 this early in the game just does not make any sense. Throw it up for 99.99 or start it at 99cents and let the bidders set the market value. I really think that the price point for this figure will be more than $60. But that depends on how many people want and like this design, and how fast it sells out.
Unless this seller is just trying to be nice and not looking to make much of a profit. Which is possible.

You may have to call them if you wish to add to your order, write down the order # for the Epcot vinyl and give it to them when you talk to them, just in case they confuse it with the Epcot flower and garden vinyl

Funny, I was on the phone with guest services asking about combining my orders when I pulled up the Epcot on and saw it was now available so I placed my order with the CM since I was on the phone with her. Unfortunately they were not able to combine my orders today since my first one had already gone through, the other, which I placed withing 10 minutes of the call had shown up yet so she wasn't able to do that at the time...oh well, I'm just happy to be able to get these figures. Finally I can get off their web site today :lol:

If I had to make an educated guess, I would say the figure VM to sell out when posted will be Peter Pan's Flight, not Tiki Room. We know for a fact that the vast majority of Peter Pan's Flight was sent to the parks, and was a quick sell-out at DLR and one of the faster sellers at WDW. With that in mind, DisneyStore probably only has a few dozen Peter Pan's, whereas they have FOUR HUNDRED Tiki Rooms.

Call it a hunch, but I believe Epcot will also be selling out before Tiki Room. I guess we'll see... :clap:

I am so amazed and excited that these were sold online! Thank you soooooo much Disney! I can not believe I bought Tiki for retail price and didn't have to bid or negotiate or trade. I thought for sure this online release would be a disaster - but once it was released, it went so smoothly. I was able to get my beloved Tiki figure without too much worry (although I have to admit I was a nervous wreck when 10am came and went...). It makes sense that Peter Pan and Epcot sold out as quickly as they did. Tiki is an online exclusive so all 400 were available on line. I bet that the number of Peter Pan and Epcot that was sold online was very small. They may show up online again depending on how the park sales go for those 2.

Keep an eye on it. They may be close to selling out and want to see exactly how many are left or how many orders don't get processed, then put those back up. sadness... I wish i could've taken advantage of this online exclusive, as my sister really likes tiki room but I didn't have the funds :( I even put in my cart hoping I'd get it, but the disney cart isn't a layaway :lol: Oh well, hopefully they'll come down in price and I can get one a few months from now.

Some might come back as being available if anyone that ordered them have used a credit card that gets declined. I think they usually contact the buyer to get a new form of payment but if they don't correct the information/credit card it releases back to being available. I can't remember how many days they give the buyer though. I had it happen to me once because I mistyped the expiration date and I got an email and called right away to fix it.

His order was originally over $89, he ordered the Peter Pan (I believe) but they said it was out of stock. So they sent the rest of the order without the Peter Pan. Without Peter Pan his order dropped below $89 so they charged him for the full shipping. Which I agree with him....it wasnt really fair.

Well it's seeming like everyone who ordered a tiki vinyl is getting the lion king one instead so not sure where all the tiki vinyls are.

Maybe we should figure out if time ordering plays a role into what you will get! Like if you ordered in the middle to end of the day will you get Lion King instead of Tiki, or if you ordered in the morning will you get lion king! Just a though! :shrug:

I only said that when we had seen a few people get lion king instead of the TIKI and no one had stated they got the real Tiki Room yet.

I received the Lion King yesterday instead of the Tiki yesterday. One other person got the same as well. I'm really bummed for myself and the other person but I am glad that all of you are getting the Tiki. I'm just frustrated because it's the one I wanted the most and the Disney Store's error will keep me from getting it now. :(

How will do I resolve this? I contacted Disneystore personnel and they said since it's a collectible, I can't get a refund or exchange it for anything. Idk, it looks as if some affirmative action will have to take place. If I wanted a Lion King so bad I could have went to the parks and got one since so many are still afloat!!!

Got mine yesterday, although it looks like a Lion King! I guess according to the time you ordered. I ordered mine a wee little tooooooo late. I figured if it had the add to cart feature, why not! Now I am stuck with a Lion King...

I got my Tiki today! No Lion King's here, thank goodness. I feel really bad for those who ordered and got the wrong item. Disneystore.com can be a mess like that. :(

i feel bad that there is no way to really fixing the issue and that some how you might end up never getting the Tiki and if that happens Disney will have to rethink the online only Vinyls so this doesnt happen again !

Maybe instead of releasing them all at once they will stagger the release so this wont happen again and maybe have a better inventory control! :shrug:

His order was originally over $89, he ordered the Peter Pan (I believe) but they said it was out of stock. So they sent the rest of the order without the Peter Pan. Without Peter Pan his order dropped below $89 so they charged him for the full shipping. Which I agree with him....it wasnt really fair.

I called them about it and they refunded me $5 back, but now I need to talk to them about my Tiki room that they forgot to send me, and sent me a Lion King instead :mad:

This in all likelihood will NOT happen again. Lion King and Tiki Room look similar enough that the person packing the boxes that day mixed them up. I can VERY easily picture some poor guy looking at Lion King and thinking to himself "This must be Tiki". I don't think this is any reason for them to cancel online exclusives or panic, as it's a one-time mistake that has never happened before with any 9" sold off of the site, and which has NOTHING to do with the fact that Tiki was an online exclusive.
