I was wondering where is a good place in Disneyland to just sit down secluded from the noise of the crowds so that you can read a nice book or relax. It's nice having an annual pass so that you don't need to rush every time you visit, so I'm curious to know these quiet places in the park.

The back car of the train (the caboose) is a nice place to sit quietly.. we usually ask if it's open and most of the time if it's not the cast member will unlock it for you.. or if you're really lucky and the Lilly Belle is open and there's a castmember there to escort and chaperone, we ask at the main station on Mainstreet annd they usually make you wait to the side before the train pulls in ;-)

There's also the fireplace inside the lobby of the grand Californian, it's nice to relax infront of the fireplace (hubby likes to sit right by the fire or in one of the comfy chairs lol), you dont have to be staying at the grand Californian to sit in the lobby and it's often pretty quiet. and if you go out and around the other side of the fireplace there's an outdoor back to the fireplace and a nice little area you can sit in on a warm day.

We love to read too and have found nice places to chill and drink ice tea and read: Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA-- outside, in sun or shade, lots of birds to feed, very rarely busy... also during non-parade times sometimes its nice to sit outside of the Burrrrrbank Ice Cream store. In Disneyland we often go to the French Market Restaurant during non-meal times, again sun or shade with birds to feed. We spent five days there a few weeks ago and I read 3 books during our trip! Hope this helps!

I agree with Boolani, Grand Californian lobby or near the conference center is a wonderful place to relax. I think in Disneyland, Critter Country and the Hungry Bear Restaurant in the back tables on the side of the Rivers of America are nice and shady. Also, by the side of the Harbor Galley where the Columbia is usually parked there is a seating area.

We come from the Pacific Northwest and stay several days (usually 5) and we have discovered during the past 25+ trips that if we work the fast passes, logically plan out our days, are there when the park opens, etc. we have time for some "down time" to read. We have high stress jobs too and usually when we can manage to get away we're totally exhausted and we have to try to come home a bit refreshed (ok so it works like that sometimes).

I can't imagine going to Disney to read a book  But to each its own. :)

It's A Small World. Nothing says quiet like that song playing over and over and over and over again

It's much easier finding quiet places in DCA..as for Disneyland.....hhmmm.......the walkway between Thunder Railroad and Fantasyland (next to the pond/McDonalds?) or anywhere around the Winnie the Pooh ride. IMO those are generally the 'quietest' places you'll find....or you can probably find a private place on Tom Sawyer's Island

the grand Californian is the best most families stay at the other 2 hotels because they are cheaper. so the grand has more adults and couples

Has security ever accused you or kicked you out because of loitering?

I went there at 5 am to wait for the Holiday sale at World of Disney. Since they didn't let people into DTD until 6, we just chilled in the lobby/conference area. I was worried security or any staff would tell us to get out, but nothing happened.

Not yet, but the way that hotel is guarded I can feel it coming!

I feel like they think I'm going to break into the hotel or steal something! But whatever maybe they are just being protective! :)

The area in front of the Matterhorn where the motorboats used to be. It was a smoking area for a while but they moved that down towards Nemo a bit so that people who buy food at the new stand can sit on the benches there and relax. The area juts out over the water so there's essentially no traffic unless someone intentionally walks down there to sit.

Oh I love sitting there, especially now that that isn't a smoking area anymore!

The area under or next to the Hungry Bear restaurant in Critter Country is usually pretty quiet, and I love to just go and sit in the Animation Studio in DCA cause it's air conditioned and comfy!!

Oh yes all those places are great too! I really love standing but the area where you can see the splash mountain logs come out from the drop, very quiet (except for the screaming) and not a lot of foot traffic! :)

There are nice secluded tables around the Rivers of America in Disneyland.

How about the Court des Anges in New Orleans Square? Although I suppose there really isn't place to sit, it's so calm and relaxing, and often I'm the only person there. It's probably my favorite spot in Disneyland.

Frontierland I feel might be the quietest park of the park, there are some nice shady bench spots..

I love sitting in Critter Country by the Hungry Bear restaurant and listening to the train go by as well as the Rivers of America traffic! If its really quiet you can hear the sounds of Big Thunder from all the way on the other end! :)

I like the Hungry Bear restaurant area in Critter Country. It's nice and quiet with the ducks on River of America. Also, I love to go and sit in the Animation Studio (next to Off the Page) in DCA with the AC running on a hot day.

Another good area to relax (maybe) is the trail behind Grizzly River Run that you can access by the "San Francisco" area bathrooms.

Definitely :agree: as long as you move away from the smoking area, its nice and quiet there! Another place that is semi quiet and relaxing is under Silly Symphony Swings during the day before the World of Color crazy! :)
