I hear A LOT of people talking bad about Orange Gears, or GEARS period. I don't see anything wrong with them. In fact, I like them. Simple question, why don't you like it?

I don't have the Orange Gears figure (yet) but I do have the Red Gears figure. I actually like it a lot but, it's kinda annoying that the red paint on the body is a slightly different color than the red paint on its head.

Do you want MY orange gears?
Honestly, I think it's the overwhelming amount of gears made. If there were only a couple gears that complimented one another it would be perfectly fine; but once you start seeing 5 different gears it seems to be a more (dare I say) 'lazy' design. And the orange gears seems to be the most common one, so given the variety of gears and commonality of orange gears it doesn't give much value to orange gears. I only collect the ones that I 'fall in love with,' so regardless of how many gears there are or what color they are its not a design that I would want to add to my collection. IMO they need to stop making ANY gears so we can appreciate our orange gears more :)

I agree with taquazi...we got a lot of the orange gears when we were buying at WDW, they were what I used when we were trading with the cast members though!

Gonna have to go with the crows, just to many gears made, its not so much the orange gears just the gears in general that I dont like, they seem like a lazy design to me and somehow they keep making more?! lol

Even though the gears may seem like a simple design I don't believe it is and I think it's unfair to say it's lazy. They are still an artist
concept and should be appreciated as such. They have meaning to the artist even if we don't get it. I think they should still be appreciated as art just like the others. I know there are a lot of them but I think it's cool how they keep coming up with new ways to do them. I'm actually looking forward to the new Urban 4 9" pink one. I think it looks cool. I just hope it's painted well. I don't know what the meaning is behind the gears but I think it might have something to do with the Mouse Gears store. I'm an artist so that is why I'm defending the art of gears. :)

One of the requests the Staff has always had of the forum members was to remember, when speaking in terms of the designs to not be too harsh in your comments. The Artists do frequent the forums and it does hurt their feelings when a design gets bashed. Please think of it this way, take something you have either made yourself (vinyl, vase, a child, etc.), and not picture all of the forum members saying how ugly or lazy or whatever comment made is about your item. How would you feel?

I think the whole "lazy" issue came up because there were two gears designs in the urban 2 and again in the urban 3. While collecting the urban 3 series, the gears were my least favorite and it felt like I got a ton of them. I just really liked the other designs enough to not be worried about the not-so-desirable gears design. It disappointed me that the series would continue having the gears designs and there weren't enough "cool" (subjective to my tastes of course!) in the new urban 3 series to keep me buying. But that is why they have so many other different wonderful collections and I'm definitely going to be buying more! Every artist knows that you can please some of the people all the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time!

Keep in mind that Urban series was supposed to be a whole set of the gear bears at one point in time. They changed their minds to mix them up and keep a couple of them in each series, so there will be more to come till we get the full set of 12.

Sorry I didn't mean to sound harsh, and I apologize if I offended anyone..
I just don't understand the purpose of having so many gears

I just dont like them. I think they're boring. And the fact that there are so many of them is zzzzzz. Plus none of them are in colours I like so that doesnt help any.

if they were in one series, i could know which one i do not want to pick from. that said, i can see the appeal of maybe one or two in all, but i feel like there are too many. also most of the figures i gravitate towards aren't the abstract ones.
i found a good use for mine - made my first custom.

If you don't want your gears, I'll take them! I was thinking of building a giant Vinylmation out of them, lol!!

I love the gear bears. Favorite so far has been the orange gears. I had to trade a wolf boy to get it because I couldn't blind box it. The pink one looks amazing as well.

They're repetitive and, unlike the Monorail series, the buyer has no connection to them. They seem more like filler than anything.

To be honest with, I love all the gears. I could see how nobody likes them, (most collectors are avid Park collectors). I have full sets retired in the closet and I also have sets on the side that I play with. For example, the gears from th Urban series are grouped and make an interesting "Gears" series. As with some of the other Park figures. I like to group like figures and make believe they are forming a secret society somehow. Idk, I'm strange. I can't wait for Urban 4's gears!

I like the White/Green/Black/Red one (don't know it's name just the colors!) reminds me of Frankenstein! But other than that I'm not too excited about the other gears.
To me though it's more about the fact that it is the filler, because now there are just so many floating around. Same goes for the Monkey, and other fillers. I like what they have started to do with fillers since the Muppet series, that is instead of having just 1 filler, they rotate between 2 figures. In my opinion, I think the perfect system would have the filler be rotated between all 11 designs, except the chaser of course. This way it doesn't give off the appearance of having too many of one design.
I completely agree with soulchild. Also, I think if thefiller is rotated btw the 11 figures, isn't it then easier for production? Also, though it's easier to have designated fillers for the last box in the case, programing the machines that pack the cases to roatate btw the 11 figures isn't difficult. Just a few lines of code! (assuming that it is a machine, and sorry I'm am enginerd! I hated programing but really, it's not difficult to write that part of code)

:agree: I hope they keep rotating the fillers, as it keeps the mystery even if you are buying a tray :)

I think that is really cool I actually would want to collect a whole gears set. I wonder what their gear chaser was supposed to be?
