In celebration of the release of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Disney has released the following image of the 9” Mad Hatter. When VinylNation.net first saw the artwork, it was included in Park Series #5 (http://www.vinylnation.net/vinyls/parkseries5/park5.html) and was planned to be a 9"/3" set with the Dormouse. Back in Fall 2009, it was also listed as an Online Exclusive, but Disney has not yet made any official announcements about how or when it will be released.

I kind of like that. Pretty interesting how they put the face on the body.

Im sorry but what a let down on the design. They could of reached for the stars on this one but to me he looks like "hunchback" hatter. Quasimodo as the Mad hatter? The Johnny Depp version would of been off the charts. Kudos for the vinylmation team for releasing something for the movie.

I like the character but I'm not a huge fan of this figure because I just think its weird how the body has a tiny little face on it and the head has a huge blank hat. Luckily its a 9" figure though so I can pass on this one with little regrets.

Hmm....for me the jury is still out on this one. Can't say I am a fan of the face being in the middle of the body. Maybe in person it will look better?

i like the character, but i dont think i'm a fan of the execution. he looks kind of wierd with his arms growing out from his ears. very hunchback of notre dam-ish. scale is all wacky.
I like it, but he does look hunchbacked. This would be a great way to do a Festival of Fools Quasimodo.

I'm not too fond of the design either, not a fan of having the head in the torso. Reminds me of the Big Eyes series, which I'm probably going to pass on as well. But I guess it's hard to fit that huge hat onto a VM, so I'm still impressed by the artists effort.

Cant wait to see the final design. Only then will I pass real judgment!

I think it's AWESOME. I would have been really disappointed if his body was just where it's supposed to be and his face is where it's supposed to be and you couldn't see his hat. He's the Mad HATTER. It does make him appear somewhat deformed but your options are kind of limited with the shape you have to work with.

That's, um, well interesting. I think they could have executed that a little better. I don't like the tiny head either.

I think that they could have done a better job, although I do like it (maybe for the sake that it's the mad hatter). I feel as if they could have done a "big eyes" theme to it. Have his head a tad bit lower, show more detail of his hat, loose the hands and use 80% of the body for the hat. They could have also just made the entire hat seeing that his hat is huge.

I like the design. The focal point of the MadHatter is the Hat. ANd to have his hat be most of Mickey's head is a nice touch.

I think it's an interesting take on the character. I would like to see how they end up releasing it 9/3, 9 only, online only, etc before passing judgment.

Honestly, I really dislike this design.
I can deal with the way the head is on his torso, but the way they have the colors designed, HIS ARMS ARE COMING OUT OF HIS HEAD. I'm talking about the design arms, not the physical vinyl arms. It makes NO sense to me for it to be designed in that way...

I had to go back and look. You're right, they look like they are coming out of his ears.
Im sure once its put on the vinyl it will look way better than this :cross:

:agree: it always looks way different to me when it's a figurine. Altho, being that he's a nine inch, he probably won't make my "exclusive" collection  (i'm not prejudice, I just don't have the space, honest!)

Maybe theyll do a whole Alice series. I thought that a new "series" idea can be movies so they can draw from each movie in each set instead of doing a whole dedicated series to one movie
