I found a few vinyls that I wasn't too thrilled with at first, but after seeing them online or getting them, they've become some of my favorites. What vinyls have you been pleasantly surprised with?

3" - Glow Mickey (Squiddy)

9" - Small World

9" - BTM

When I first saw Vinylmations, I thought the Snow White one was really lame. But after getting one, I am amazed by the details added into it. It has everything from dwarves to the "Heart Box" to the final scene of the ride.

I actually really like the Bad Apple and Teacups figures from Park Series #1.

Lame as it sounds, I've kind of become attached to my naked Vinyl. I bought him to paint but I might keep him as is and buy others to paint.

Yea, I feel the same way about mine. It just seems the naked Vinyl is like its own figure, and not just needed to create your own.

I can definitely understand that. I just got 3 - 3" blanks from my in laws who just got back from WDW. I have ideas for two of them, but not the last one. I also kind of like the way it looks blank.

I like tea cups a lot more than I thought I would also.

I really liked Snow White before getting it, but liked it even more after getting it and seeing the detail. Same thing with Lion King, Pinball and Pirates

I'm actually considering getting a blank 3" just to keep "as is". I think it would be a great addition to the collection.

You should have let me know, I could have gotten the in-laws to pick up one for you too.

I have plenty of time to get one. Plus I still need to pay you for the Park Series #2 figures.

Fireworks, I thought was very well done. I love the fact that the silhouette of Mickey's face was used as part of the pattern. Mine, Mine, Mine and E-Coupon designs on the back were quite smart IMO.

My underdog is Haunted Mansion 3". I saw the concept and then what the actual figure looked like online and thought that it was bad looking. After I got it in my first go at vinylmations, I liked it just as much as the rest.

:agree: Fireworks was the second vinyl I got. It wasn't one that I had to have, but I found it on eBay for cheap, and was definitely surprised when I got it in. The Mickey silhouettes were a great idea. E-Coupon I'm liking more and more and really wish I'd have picked one up when I got my Small World.

Those were 2 of the figures I was most anticipating in Park Series #2.

I didn't love the 3" SMRT-1 at first but now it's one of my favorites.

Mine was Toon Hole. When I saw it in the display I thought it was hideous and couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. And then I ended up pulling one out and it kinda grew on me (I liked the front way more than the back). But then I traded it away so it doesn't matter now. :)

That's funny because I was there in January with my husband, brother and sister-in-law and I passed those thing about 100 times and just kept wondering what they were and thought of how ugly they were, I never really stopped to really check them out.

After we go back my brother started telling me about these "vinylmations" and I told him I saw them in the parks while we were there, and well....I'm still paying for not point them out to him at that point. (In all fairness, how was I suppose to know he was that blind that he didn't see them in just about every shop we went into?)

Since then, we've both become addicted!

Yes...you ARE still paying for NOT pointing them out to me. It would have been SOOOOO much cheaper to buy the Park Series #1 figures while we were there INSTEAD of getting them via eBay.

Thanks a whole big bunch of a LOT!:mad::mad:

I was waiting for this post...I knew it was coming even as I was typing mine.

Trust me, I wish I would have realized how cool they were while we were there too! I could have saved a fortune if I didn't have to go throuhg eBay for series 1. You should take comfort in knowing I'm paying for it as well.

In the future, I will make sure to point out every single piece of merchandise available just in case it has the potential to become this big....even a crappy little page of stickers.

My underdog for Park 3 would have to be Artist Palette! I knew I liked this figure, but seeing it in person makes me love it! It's got a lot of detail I wasn't expecting!

I absolutely did the same thing at HT_NSU - I saw them tons last year and thought, why would anyone want those? You don't even know what you're getting!

Then when my FL friends started collecting I got addicted...

My biggest surprises were Lion King, Confetti and Cosmos! :)

Carousel is my underdog from Park 3. I didn't think I was going to like it very much, but once you get to hold it and look at it up close it's pretty detailed and I love the colors.

I think it's a pretty cool design. I like how they have the sketches on the ears. I'll definitely make my "underdog" pick once I see the Park 3s in person today.

I was not into the Chinese writing mickey at all! And when I got him, still not too into him but i kept him just because I had this weird feeling. Then I read that the Chinese writing actually says Mickey Mouse and Disneyland and now I LOVE him :)

Also I was suprised when I opened Lion King. I liked him because I love animals, but I had no idea that he the Lion King. Then one day I was looking at him and I turned him around and I saw the drawing of simba and I almost scram because Lion King was and still is my all time favorite Disney movie. So much that when I was little, I could repeat the whole movie! And now he is one of my favorites!!

So everyone, I say examine your mickeys a little closer, you will be surprised by the detail in them that you can't see in a picture!

So far of the ones I have is Melty Snowman. I like the holly on his ear, his scarf and how the water is building up at his feet.

For me it's Aquamouse... I love the simplicity and it reminds me of my betta at home!

I think people just had issues with this one because it didn't fit into the series

Aquaramouse is a great design. Like you said, what caused it to not be a fan favorite was that it fell in a Parks series, when it really should have been an Urban design. If it had been placed in the right series it probably would have done better in terms of people liking it more.

Definitely. It's a clever design (not nearly the best IMO) but it was just inserted into the wrong series.

I agree that it's underrated. Do you know what part of the park the intended it to be from? I always wondered about that.

I would say my underdog is Herbie, Chocolate Bar, and pretty much off all the Cutesters...especially the chaser! I love that the rhinestones add dimension to the vinyl.

The very loose connection they tried to make to justify including it in a park set was that it represented the Seas with Nemo and Friends.

That's what I was thinking. I'm in CA so I didn't know if there was something at the FL parks it related to. The color scheme would've looked great in Urban 3! Especially since I could do with one less Gears bear (that's you orange gears aka scary bear). Urban 2 already had 2 white Mickeys and with Glass 1/2 full, it would've looked redundant.

For me, I think it would be all the urbans. At first I thought they were just ugly but the more of them I see pics of (havent had the pleasure of seeing them in person) the more I want some of them. Great more to go back and try to purchase on ebay. Ughhh. And I keep trying to tell myself that the 9" are ugly so I wont cry over not having any of them LOL :) Maybe one day, when I win the lottery lol

One of my favorites ended up being the Green Oh! Mickey. Love the back of him even more than the front which you can't see from the packaging.

My votes will have to be for the cutesters series and then the Jr's. When I saw those I was like, "Ugh, pass." But after seeing some in person and then blind boxing a couple, now I'm just as excited about those as the others!
