I thought I had a thread for this already but I guess not.
Here is new concept art from the Disney Parks Blog for the newest destinations resort from Disney in Ko Olina, Hawaii.
Looks beautiful :)

That’s why I’m so excited to tell you that the place now has an official name: Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawai`i. The name Aulani, for you mainlanders, means “the place that speaks for the great ones” or “the place that speaks with deep messages,” and it reflects our company’s ongoing commitment to celebrating the great culture and traditions of these magnificent islands.
Our oceanfront resort, planned to feature 360 hotel rooms and 481 two-bedroom-equivalent Disney Vacation Club villas, is scheduled to open its first phase in fall 2011.

Looks so nice! Too bad I'll probably never make it to Hawaii. Guess that's why we have the Poly.

 I was thinking the same thing, Beachgurl. Poly will have to do... well when I can even afford to stay there, that is. hehe

I can't wait until this starts "selling". One of my best friends just moved to Hawaii, and this would definitely come in handy for visits!

As a DVC member, we received an email about the new property today. The price per point is inline with the other resorts, which kind of surprised me a little. I'm not sure what the maintenance fees are per point nor the number of points required per night, both are important to consider. If only we were in a position to add points.

My best friend and her husband just got stationed in Hawaii so I plan on going to visit her during the three years that she is living there!! Maybe this will be built by then.

According to abcnews.com, they will start accepting reservations as well starting on Aug. 2nd and the supposed date of opening is Aug 29, 2011, so it will be open by then for sure, fangirl :)

There's an actual event going on for this on thrown by DVC for D23 members called D23's Aloha Aulani Reception being held at Contemporary Resort on July 18th. I've already registered along w/ my wife for this event. I wish we had the money to join DVC but I guess it's not time for us to join.

Disney’s Aulani Resort Restaurants and Dining Details
Jul 11th, 2010 by AJ.

Thanks to Werner Weiss at Yesterland for the heads up on this great news. Here are all the details on Disney dining at Aulani Resort, Disney’s newest Vacation Club property at Ko Olina on Oahu, Hawai’i. Details can be found at DVCMember.com for those with log-ins and passwords.

Makahiki Buffet Restaurant
This restaurant will have an open-air dining room featuring murals created by local artists depicting the story of Makahiki, the Hawaiian harvest festival. This location will be on the Main Building’s lower level, and will offer character breakfasts and casual dinner buffets with cuisine reflecting local favorites. These will include fresh, line-caught sustainable seafood and chef-inspired dishes.

The ‘Olelo Room
This will be a fun, interactive lounge serving tropical beverages, Continental breakfast, traditional Afternoon Tea, and cocktail service. You’ll find it adjacent to the Makahiki Buffet.

‘AMA’AMA Beachside Restaurant
Ah, yes! The beautiful Aulani beachside restaurant we speculated about so many months ago! The restaurant will seating will be inside hale (beachside houses) and will serve traditional and locally-inspired meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You’ll be able to get omelets, bakery items, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, seasonal and sustainable seafood, steak, duck and vegetarian selections, and other menu selections.

Beachside Lounge/Pool Bar

Right next to the ‘AMA’AMA Beachside Restaurant, this lounge will serve favorites like the Mai Tai, Pina Colada, Blue Hawai’i and Long Island Iced Tea. Of course, you’ll be able to get anything from the full bar, such as margaritas, sangria, sparkling cocktails, wine, and local beer. Be sure to ask about the ‘Ike Mua, the discovery drink of the day! A food menu will also be available.

Quick Service Counter
Stop in here for sandwiches, wraps, desserts, and a keiki (kids) menu! Also, get your refillable mug here ;-) This will be next to the entrance of the ‘AMA’AMA Beachside Restaurant.

The Lava Shack
Hawai’i veterans, this is where you get your plate lunches!! Choose from Cold Fried Chicken, Cured Meats and Cheese, and Chilled Miso-glazed Salmon among other entree items. This will serve daily and can be found across from the Rainbow Reef snorkel lagoon. The Lava Shack will also stock grab-and-go items and will have a refillable mug station.

Authentic Hawaiian Shave Ice
Hawaiian Shave Ice Cart
It wouldn’t be Hawai’i without authentic shaved ice! Trimmed from a block of crystal-clear ice into a fine powder and topped with flavored syrup (a la kaki-gori), this treat is pure Hawai’i. The cart will be located on the pool deck.

Yogurt Bar
Located at the Aulani resort spa, the Yogurt Bar will be open daily and serve yogurt concoctions with fresh fruit and dry toppings.

Private Dining
Locally-inspired specialties will be available for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night.
Restaurants and menu items are all subject to change.

All sounds yum!!

Yeah the GF and I talked and were totally buying some DVC points at AKL this winter when we head down, and then we saw this place and decided that we need to buy points there too.

Were really excited, we've never been to Hawaii, and now we will have a Disney "home" there :D
